If cost is your concern then you should be against the death penalty. It's cheaper to go for life imprisonment than capital punishment.

I get the numbers, but they use non death penalty cases until incarceration is over. That could be 5 years, not 50. The average is going to skew low. 

 

Also, obviously, the biggest problem is protracted court battling for years in death penalty cases, costing courts, and the need for PD’s tons of money. The judicial system is a morass.

 

Now, I’m all for people getting their due in a court of law, and am well aware of improper imprisoning of death penalty innocents, but in cases like this, where there is no question, and witnesses galore...

Putting the cost aside (and as stated, you don't save any money by executing someone), (1) I still think life in prison is far worse than a quick death when you go in in your 20s (2) you should make an example out of this guy, but don't make him a martyr, and (3) maybe he's not beyond rehabilitation and some good can come of this.
