April 29, 2001 15:59:49 ET The Times-Picayune's Jeff DeShazier reports WR Albert Connell's addition to the New Orleans Saints offense has the team excited about making their offense more potent than it was a year ago. Connell averaged 19.9 yards per catch last season and 18.3 the year before. Head coach Jim Haslett stated he feels Connell has all of the skills necessary to be an "All-Pro wideout."

He's made a few big plays, but has shown a tendency for dropping the ball in practice. Just as he was starting to turn things around, he suffered a hamstring injury during the final mini-camp.

"The heat got to me a little bit today," Connell said. "It's hot (90 degrees), but I'll get used to it. I'm a little bit out of shape because of my hamstring (injury)." Connell is happy with the quick tempo of practice and he is looking forward to the season and the winning attitude the team portrays.

Connell has a strained hamstring and coach Jim Haslett points to the torn hamstring that will keep Seattle CB Shawn Springs out for two months as his main reason for being cautious. "I want to make sure that he is healthy," Haslett said.

How much are they paying for a #3? WOW.

September 4, 2001 5:37:18 PT The Times Picayune reports New Orleans Saints coach Jim Haslett said Monday the team is expected to be at full strength for Sunday's opening game. WRs Joe Horn and Albert Connell, DT Norman Hand, DE Darren Howard, CBs Kevin Mathis and Steve Israel and G Wally Williams all practiced during the Saints two-hour workout Monday in the Superdome. All worked with the starting units except Israel and Connell. Israel is not quite 100 percent yet and Connell is currently behind WR Willie Jackson on the depth chart.

That was good reading..smile.gif The early accounts sounded a lot like Philadelphia talking about Thrash. Though I hold Thrash in a much higher regard than Albert, Seems that Albert however is showing his true colors. Funny how teams see the greatness in players that other teams discard. (Not saying that we got rid of Thrash, would still like to have kept him.)
