*To be read in conjunction with the above OP. Placed here so the OP can strictly be for the purposes of participants and draft order.*

So guys and gals, it's finally that time of year again when the hardy among our number, or 'just plain crazy nerds with WAY too much time on their hands who need to get out more!' as a female acquaintance told me in NO uncertain terms when I jibbed her off one too many times in my draft prep last year; turn our attention to what has become a labour of love for all those involved these past two years. The now annual ES GM Mock Draft.

Sadly, due to that pesky thing called life getting in the way, our beloved Commissioner Epochalypse is unable to run the draft this year so has kindly (or very sneakily knowing him and the work involved!) asked me if I'll step in and cover this years official organising/ running. Which I have accepted. ('OH FFS NOOOOOOOO! go my fellow GM's. 'We're all Royally F-ED now!!!!! Meh, I'd only be worried if you're French and clueless in Jacksonville. The rest of you should be free from 'problems' so long as my palm gets crossed with the relevant amount of silver. .). Joking aside, just doing the initial OP brings home the commitment involved so I'm sure you'd all stand with me in applauding the work Epoch has diligently put in the two years we've been doing this. He still can't draft for **** like. :P, But he sure has run a fine, hugely enjoyable draft and it's been greatly appreciated by all of us. As is the commitment and dedication every last one of you guys put into these things. You're all stars in your own right and I've personally been blown away by the level of knowledge and attention taken. Not just in terms of prospects. But fits for their respective teams. We really do have a super smart  football community here.

Right, now the pleasantry's are out of the way, onto this years edition for you glorious gang of misfits and reprobates I'm proud to be a part of .....

Pretty much the same SP as our initial two years. No need to drastically change what's worked so well. Just a few minor additions I hope everyone doesn't have a problem with. Here's last years edition for anyone new unsure of the premiss of how we work this show: 2016 ES GMs mock draft - and we're spent. - The Stadium - Extremeskins

Roster Lockdown/ Draft Start Dates.

The proposed start date this year is Thursday, March 30. 12 PM EST. That will give us exactly 1 month before the 'real' draft commences on Th, April 27.

By way of comparison, in 2015, we started March 28 and finished April 20, The actual draft that year started April 30. So we raced through with 10 days to spare. In 2016, we started March 25 and finished April 24. 2 days prior to the actual 2016 NFL draft. A month fits well into our tried and tested timeframe.

We shall be 'locking down' all rosters by 12 AM EST that morning. March 30. Which basically means that any trading of players/ picks between teams in the 'actual World prior to midnight on March 29 will be what you carry over and work off in the reality of our draft. Any moves made after 'our' roster lockdown in the 'real NFL World' are immaterial to ourselves and don't count for this exercise.

Compensatory picks should be out the next few weeks (March 11 was when the league announced them last year), so by that point we'll have a clearer picture on everyones respective pick allocation for this draft.

So, y'all have over a month to formulate your boards and strategy. Get researching!

Time Duration.

This has always been one of most hotly disputed issues and one of the trickiest to placate everyone with our GM's being in wholly different time zones the World over.

Our general rule of thumb has been for each GM to have a 12 hour time slot once he's on the clock. And if he fails to get his pick in within that allowed time, he skips his pick and we move down the draft order with him being able to jump back in at any time he returns. With the added penalty of two skips cutting his future time allowance in half.

So, with that in mind,  there's a few amendments to that this year:

For Round 1, the 12 hour rule stays in place.

For Round 2, this decreases by 2 hours to 10 hours.

Rounds 3 though 7 will decrease by a further two hours to give you 8 hours on the clock.

This hopefully will keep things moving along faster, along with adding a small sense of comparability to the real draft where time slots alter in the above rounds.

The two skip/ time halved rule will still apply. BUT, if you don't show and end up missing an entire round, you run the likely risk of having your team taken away from you as it's unfair and not much fun on everyone else to be kept waiting. To participate, you need to be FULLY committed and there's a lot of personnel sacrifice involved.

General Rules.

- As every year, this is a completely independent drat so they'll be no carry over of any future picks that happened in the 2016 version.

- Once we commence, the draft order at that moment in actual time will be the draft order we work with.  And as previously mentioned, the roster we work with will be from when the roster lockdown occurs.  To avoid a real life future player/ pick transaction from confusing an already exhausting process.

- You can freely trade picks, including future picks, so long as you find a willing trade partner. With the added bonus this year for the first time ever compensatory picks are now in play to be traded! But any ridiculously lopsided trade suggestion are subject to the Commissioner/ community vetoing. (Mercifully this has yet to be needed.).

If you happen to end up running two teams (hopefully this won't be the case), in the obvious interest of collusion, AKA 'Being like that POS jack wagon Mara!', they'll naturally be NO trading with yourself!

- Strictly NO trading of players for picks. We tested this in our initial mock and all out 2 day carnage ensued before we scrapped that mad idea and had a do-over.

- Transaction discussions can be made through PM's at your own discretion to simulate back door handshakes or in thread. Just be sure that once such deals are made I am made aware. (Lot of responsibility with this Commissioner lark.). These can in effect commence when you confirm your team. But obviously can't be official announced until your pick is up.

- When you decide and post your picks, you are free to elaborate as much or as little about your decisions as you would like. People will lambast you as they see fit regardless. Or just be absolutely awed by that funny talking Scouse dude who's soul aim is to investigate and educate the rest of you fools. :P.

- If, for whatever reason, you feel you'll have a long delay when it's your pick because you won't be around, but you know you're within a couple of picks of being on the clock, then please, if you have a shortlist in preferential order of players you want, feel free to send it via PM to myself or someone you trust to make the pick in your absence if I aren't around. All helps in keeping things moving. All of have to at least sleep from time to time!

- I shall PM you to let when you're 'On the Clock.' If I aren't around, it would be appreciated as always for who every happens to be around/ just picked to notify the next GM up. If your time is running down and you've not responded for whatever reason, I shall notify you as it goes.

- Strictly NO talking of players in this thread once the draft commences that have yet to be picked. Repeated offences on this once warned could well result in sanctions.

Strictly NO OTT badgering of GM's currently on the clock to make their pick. They have a time limit for a reason. As frustrated in waiting as you may be, repeated violations of this will result in sanctions against your own time duration. NO exceptions. This has been a repeated issue that has bothered a few participants in recent years and will no longer be tolerated. We're here to have fun guys. Respect the rules and each other from when you commit and we'll achieve that aim once more.

All that said, feel free as always to rib each other to the fullest and mock or applaud draft picks when made at your leisure. Just remember to keep within the rules of the board and be reasonably respectful to one another. Or else I'll be sending @zoony and his kin round to have a word. And the very LAST visitors you want are those boys high on the shine Mamma z brews up  deep within them there dark Tennessee Smokeys!

Trade Value Chart.

In the interests of unilateral fairness, the de facto draft pick trade value chart we will be using is the following, standard Jimmy Johnson devised one:

2017 NFL Draft Trade Value Chart (You can even enter your team and highlight your draft picks. I'm too good to you guys. :superman:.).

NO EXCEPTIONS!

In your private trade discussions, ALL GM's should reference this. If any GM is trying to force another, less common trade value chart on you and won't concede then please feel free to bring it to the Commissioners attention to sort out the dispute.

Right, that just about covers everything and hopefully will be to everyone's satisfaction.

If you've played before, please, either respond to the PM's soon to be sent as to your participation/ requested team this year. Or just add yourself below. The same for any new participants who will be added to a 'reserve list' in the order they offer to join to cover any empty slots we may end up with. SamMills51 you're already inked in topping that buddy. :).

Have a blast as always guys. And remember, don't so much laugh at Epochs picks as laugh with him when he realises what a cluster **** he's made of his draft again .....

Hail.

I know I shouldn't.... Not sure I'll have enough time but I'm in once again! So those Jaguars really looks like dysfunctional again :P

And I owe myself to my fellow skins fan to make sure GHH isn't cheating in any way. If he does, I'll remind him what the frenchies do with supposedly Kings:

guillotine.jpg

Now this being said, I'd like to add that if you're too lazy and happens to pick a guy that have been already picked up, you can still change your picks. But as you made your pick, wrongly, the following team can get to the podium and pick before you change.

As always, there's nothing to gain here, not even a selfie with one of our beloved cheerleaders, maybe one with Vinny, talks are still ongoing. At best you'll have 31 other GMs having fun of you and your stupid pick. Maybe we should grab one of those twitter guys to publish those picks on Twitter to all those draft gurus :P

So mark it down: Jacksonville Jaguars, Me, Myself and I!

4 teams reclaimed.

Unfortunately our good friend SkinsFanMania, my telepathic compadre from previous drafts ;), is just too busy sadly this time out to be able to fully commit. Bt I'm sure he'll pop in when he can to share his vast draft knowledge and opinion.

So we'll have a new Ravens owner for this year.

I had the Vikings last year but would like to change - will be trying to change every year to get to know the rest of the league better.

So I would like to volunteer for the Ravens. Let me know if that works.

Thanks for being the commish (King)! Remember, with great power, comes great responsibility!  :chair:  LOL

Just a few tips for those newcomers that may get interested in participating.

- It is really time consuming, as long as you intend to do this seriously. GHH haven't marked it again, but you shouldn't take a team you hate and have them go P, K and LS in the first three rounds. It's pointless and it ruins everyone's fun. So make you sure take this seriously and draft accordingly to your team and your own beliefs.

- EMPTY YOUR ES MAIL! That sounds stupid but you don't want to get bypassed because nobody was able to warn you because your mail is full and you can't receive anymore PM from this. (Such as letting know that you are on deck).

- Make sure you receive notifications from this site as well, so you have an alert if you are on the clock, or on deck.

- Check often, and don't hesitate to post a time window when you'll be able to pick. So people can come back and pick right before you

- Try to do trades before being on the clock. As a rule try to not let that 12 hours span to generate an impossible trade. That's the best way to alienate others and preventing any trades further down.

- Usually, first round starts fast. And things go quick until round 4 where we used to have some drop. Which I believe led to GHH shortening the time to pick after round 4. That makes it harder for those with some time difference, but we'll sort this out ourselves.

- Feel free to use any draft site you wish as your draft board.

- Don't hesitate to say why you choose a player with your pick, because he's handsome, runs fast, or his name is cool, whatever.

- Also, if you do so, try to make your player, pick, position and College in Bold or something so that is easier for the commissioner to notice it, without reading the whole post.

- Feel free to have fun on anyone's draft. Particularly, Epoch, GHH, and obviously me, because I don't know crap :P

EDIT:

- If someone passes you his wish list, don't use it to cheat. Especially if you pick right after him and your choice is first on his wish list.

Welcome back Sir. Still not forgiven your team for the SB implosion but I'll get over it.
