OURYEAR#56
I like the guy. He's big (6'2, 225), and he can go the distance. I watched the game against Pittburg, and he can grind out the tough 3 and 1. ANd get this he can catch and block. I think he would be a good addition to our team. Dr. D
yea until he puts on a redskins uniform and signs a lucrative contract...... such is the way of things
CBMGreatOne
No, I actually think this makes sense, there were talks about the 49ers trading Barlow earlier this year, to Dallas, so he must be on the block to some extent. If we could get Barlow and a first rounder for Bailey next year, I'd say do it.
Cskin
He's not on the block. The 49ers aren't going to trade their young impressive RB and hold onto aging Garrison Hearst. Hearst is released at the end of the year, for no other reason than his age and salary cap figure. STOP THE INSANITY!!!!
panel
How many mediocer RBs do we really need? Barlow would be our best probibly, but not so much better so that he would get CLOSE 80% of the carries. SS would cycle him. I know a great power RB who, oh wait, I forgot the guy I'm thinking of "isn't a good fit" for our offense.
RabidFan
The boys tried for barlow this season in a trade but balked at the price...but if he is a free agent after this season , look for dallas to make a play
OURYEAR#56
I think he's perfect for our offense, whether Spurrier is there or not. Barlow is the kind of back that doesn't need a lot of carries to be effective. I also like the way he catches the ball out of teh back field. I think trading Champ for him and a first rounder would put our team at the top of the NFC EAST. He is more than a mediocre back. He's a game breaker. Down with Trung up with Kevin. SlinginSammy HOF '63
I'd take Timmy Smith at this point.
skinsfan913
The grass always seems greener on the other side. I would really like to give Betts a chance to see what he's capable of. Kevin can stay where he is. Oh and to the person suggesting Kevin Barlow and a 1st rounder for Champ you need to JUST SAY NO!
redman
Considering that for 2 years running that Barlow has been unable to beat out a Garrison Hearst that is a shell of his former self solely because he can't block or pick up a blitz to save his life, I don't think that that's our answer. We already have a couple of those guys.
xanathos19
Barlow would be decent, but I can think of a number of guys who would be better than him, that may be available. You know someone is going to be available in Cincy...Rudi or Dillon. There's been some sh!t about Fred Taylor (probably not too realistic), and maybe Mo Willy from Minnesota (could be available in a trade). LADELL BETTS, though, should be the man...give him a chance when he's healthy. Anyone is better than Trung. Was Rock inactive yesterday?
Symbol
How about this, we keep Canidate, Betts, Sultan, Mortan, and Rock. During the offseason, Spurrier finally makes a good decision and calls one of them our full time back, and runs him on a weekly basis like Canidate was ran last night, as our primary back, and to stop the running back by committe B.S.
