So how quickly does Nikki Haley turn on Trump when he doesn't announce her as VP for 2020 campaign?

It won't matter.   The Dems will definitely win in 2024 if Trump wins reelection. After 8 years of him, the country won't be wanting 4 more GOP years.

Let all the GOP politicos live in their fantasy, that they will be the 2024 nominee.  If Don wins reelection; Donald will dictate his GOP successor and odds are strong it's Don Jr or Ivanka.

Whats your opinion on your party's policy to roll back environmental regulations for the benefit of industry?

https://economics21.org/regulations-tax-the-poor

.........Specifically, Mr. Reich cites the administration’s push to neuter tough environmental laws, which are supposedly the “last bulwarks against climate change.” On the surface, lowering Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards may appear to increase emissions. As it happens, the exact opposite is true. CAFE standards raise the price of vehicles by several thousands of dollars, effectively pricing the poor out of the market for new vehicles, and ensuring that low-income households will hold onto older, less efficient, vehicles for a longer amount of time. As economists Arthur van Benthem and Mark Jacobsen explain in the American Economic Review, higher CAFE standards may result in “a growing volume of greenhouse gas emissions from the fleet of used vehicles, many of which have been on the road for 10 years or more.”......

.......Four years after the Energy Policy Act of 2005 kick-started the American biofuel frenzy, the Federal Reserve found that “the increase in U.S. biofuels production (ethanol and biodiesel) pushed up corn prices by more than 22 percentage points and soybean prices (soybeans and soybean oil) by more than 15 percentage points.” Meanwhile, studies taking into account the land clearing required for growing biofuels find that removing tree and related plant life can actually increase greenhouse gas emissions net of any environmental benefits. Setting aside crops and acreage for fuel means less resources for food production, resulting in rising food prices, and had a negligible impact on the environment.Of course, this doesn’t mean that all environmental rules are counterproductive. But while regulators should celebrate these successes, they must also remain vigilant in identifying regulations whose costs are simply too high. Even Mr. Reich understands this problem, noting that “Some regulations should be eliminated because they're just too costly relative to the protections they provide.”......

She doesn't want to get tied that closely with Trump. She is playing a balancing game - needs to convince the Trumpsters she had his back but has to keep enough distance as not to be dragged down by the undertow.

The only thing stopping our country from having a full on authoritarian government is the ability to get away with it at this point. Trump is paying everyone off.

When CAFE was instituted in 1975, the US avg mpg was 13mpg.  As of 2018, it was 24.7 mpg.

^^ This. Regulations are a key driver of technology growth and improving living standards. The idea that they are a tax on the poor is ludicrous when regulations have been a key driver for everything from workplace safety, housing standards to clean environments.

There needs to be a mandatory Peace Corps program for every libertarian to go live in a country like Somalia to see what happens when governments are weak and regulations are non-existent. They should also be made to read Wealth of Nations, since apparently capitalism is great but its greatest philosopher would be labeled a commie by their standards.

...and the provisions set up to curtail the ability to get away with it are eroding at breakneck speed thanks to our republican Senate.

By then, the GOP senate will pass a "lifetime presidency" law or at the very least, Trump will get us into a hot war with Easter Island or find some other loophole extending his term limits. Joking/not joking.

Can't get it to open at work. I'm sure it is something that wasn't smart to roll back or you wouldn't have posted it.  My point is not all, heck not even most, of the regulatory rollbacks are bad and I'm sure not all of them are good.  A problem the previous administration caused was a  massive expansion of regulations (often self defeating) to the detriment of the country. Not everything the Trump administration has done has been bad and that is hard to swallow for many.
