TooDeep
By Len Pasquarelli espn.com As noted early this week, the jettisoning of George isn't likely to solve all the problems Schottenheimer has with his underachieving team. There continues to be, especially from some of the Redskins' most-tenured veterans, a disdain for the head coach that translates into playing with a distinct lack of emotion. In fact, the dispassion with which the Skins performed in the Monday night debacle at Green Bay was palpable. Not to mention embarrassing. The loss of respect began on the first day of camp when Schottenheimer, allegedly a good coach for a veteran team, began the workouts with a dreaded "Oklahoma" drill. At that moment, players like defensive end Bruce Smith, who might still request a trade before the Oct. 16 deadline (although the salary cap ramifications to Washington make a swap nearly impossible), shut it down on Schottenheimer. The players didn't react very well, either, on Monday, when they had a 7:30 a.m. wakeup call for a game that didn't kick off until 8 p.m., Green Bay time. The early wake-up call and a mandatory team breakfast had players grumbling most of the day, as they trudged through a series of team meetings. Schottenheimer doesn't allow players to have single rooms on the road, even if they pay the difference between a single and double room. So Smith had to sleep in the lobby of the team hotel last Sunday night because the snoring of roommate Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson kept him awake. A few of the veterans told ESPN.com they will recommend to all their friends that no one sign with the Redskins as a free agent next spring. "I know money is always the biggest factor in free agency, but all Dan Snyder's dollars aren't worth the (stuff) you have to put up with here," said one player. "If I'm talking to any player who is in free agency, my advice is going to be: 'Stay away, man.' Even going to Cincinnati can't be as bad as this." ***********************************************************
2cents
Actually, my comment would be that our team is filled with lazy, good for nothing slugs who don't understand the process of team building because it means work. Army Basic Training does the same thing, throw all the guys together and force then to come together. You were in, I'm in now, we both know it works, but the guys on this team have no concept on how to work hard or work as a team.
Terry
I can't believe what a bunch of girls we have on our team. And this sentence: "A few of the veterans told ESPN.com....", is amazing to me. If they'd spend less time whining to the press and more time getting their sh!t together then maybe we wouldn't be 0-2! markrc99
i agree as well.. if having to get up at 7:30am means you're not interested in competing for a championship, then YOU'RE not championship material, and are not of a professional mindset! i haven't heard of anything that would prevent a pancaking fool from wanting to throw his body around in a NFL gm come sunday..obviously, there's alot of p*ssies on this team!..HEY MARTY,TURN 'EM HARDER!!! OMG,bruce might request to be moved?..please..we couldn't get a 6pack for this bum!..he be gettin' ho pumped by TES,WRS & even a undersized QB..you must be kidding!.. tell you what 2deep,if we can rework his "con"tract, you guys can have him...make it corona lights and he's all yours! 2cents
If I can get up at five in the morning to defend the country, they can get up at 7:30 to defend the goal line.

Art
In Too Deep, Once again, you are a day late and a dollar short, as we've already posted this on this board. Try to keep up with the information we allow you to see so you don't post redundancy. ------------------ Doom is in the box.
indyskinsfan
My interpretation of the comment made by the "player" is likely Mr. Sellers when he rapped the team, Snyder and yes Schottenheimer. Careful analysis shows that Cincinnati right NOW, aint bad, so the the statement had to have been made in preseason, NOT the regular season. SAVED AMMO perhaps? Whatever. The sh** hits the fan tommorow. The sad irony is, Marty is actually on point for disciplining a team full of slackers, but then again it was so many, he actually got rid of or let some go by way of FA (exceptions, Jenkins and Thrash). TooDeep
Art, Fastball, mid-thigh on the inside of the plate. You swung, but the glove had already popped and the catcher was starting his throw to third when you struck out. Nice try. I said this over a week ago. You claimed it wasn't true. Or am I speaking too fast here.
Art
In Too Deep, it's not possible you pasted Lenny's article a week ago when it wasn't written until yesterday. So, yes, I'm saying it's not true. The sentiment contained within has been written about on this board since early August. So, either you are a day behind or six weeks. Either way, you're singing a tune we've already had and have openly discussed for weeks. And, for the record, I was the first person to mention the grumbling being a potential problem should the team start off slowly. So, I don't think you are speaking from any position of reality here. Perhaps you had a non-dry dream that included me and you've gotten confused? ------------------ Doom is in the box. Runs with Scissors
This kind of stuff goes on with every team, with every coach. Its just that when you're 0-2 people go looking for this stuff. If the skins were 2-0 you think people would still be complaining about the drills they did in training camp? NavyDave
Until they deploy on a nuclear cruiser or desroyer getting paid more or less minimum wage then they have nothing to snivel about. Comraderie is what we need and Marty will push to see this even if that means jettisoning the remaining supposed "Name" players. The youth movement should be nearly finished after the 2k2 draft so the snivleing should be nearly gone as well since champ,Davis and Jansen may be the players with the most seniority remaining ------------------ Take a sip of the Marty KoolAid and Believe
Terry
'scissors' is right, an 0-2/67-3 record is like chum in the water - attracts every bottom feeder for miles around.
Mickalino
Maybe the problem isnt that Schotty is too harsh. It's that they can't handle the sudden 180 degree turn from Norv's lazy ways. They're all still spoiled from the country club days. Now, if we had an AVERAGE coach last year, as opposed to a Norv, perhaps the shock of going through Schottenmeimer drills wouldnt be so harsh
TennesseeCarl
The majority of the players on the team now were with us last year. They wouldn't play impassioned football for Norv...they wouldn't play impassioned football for Robiskie either. So they don't like Marty, hmmm... Jeez, my heart's bleedin' all over the place. I'm at my office by 6:50 a.m. and I usually leave around 6:10 p.m. (often later). There are days when I don't like it a freakin' bit, but then I think, "Oh yeah...I gotta pay the mortgage and the light bill." I'll trade with any one of those guys for the vet minimum. But I won't bunk with Big Daddy.
