Brave
Owens would be an asset to any team. He is one of the top 3 WRs in the game today. But, at the money he would demand ...

No.
NavyDave
I prefer to give our 2k2 verson of Thrash a shot instead of these self absorbed types
Zen-like Todd
Yes, yes I would like to trade for a malcontent. A first and a third for that guy? In a heartbeat.

Go d-line in the 2nd round and free agency, give Fiedler a call, tell him he can be the man in D.C. if he exercises his option, or just go grab Trent Dilfer, and there you go. Art
That is interesting. I thought Mooch was the one in danger out there, not Owens. Without any question at all I would be willing to trade a first and third for Owens. I think that most of us would. However, let's look at an alternative and see where we like things better.

If we could pick between Owens or Glenn/Crowell and keeping our No. 1 and No. 3, what would you do? I think you'd go with the lesser receiver and solidify other spots in the draft. Glenn is a problem child, like Owens, and Crowell, like our buddy Westbrook, has battled injuries, but I think in either case we'd be better off than trading the picks for Owens.

At the very least we have to make a run at a couple of free agents and fail in that area before considering this. But, it is something well worth considering.
Gamebreaker
I agree with ChosenOne, I'd trade for Owens in a heartbeat. Does the guy have an attitude problem? Yes. But can he also completely dominate a game? Yes again.

He's easily one the best 3 recievers playing right now, and unlike Moss, he will bring his A game every sunday.

Besides, he hates the Cowboys. That should be reason enough.
Stricknine
Gamebreaker said exactly what I was going to say. Exactly. This guy has a big mouth, but he backs it up every game. His main complaint with Mooch was his lack of killer instinct. I don't think that will be a problem with our new coach.

[ January 22, 2002: Message edited by: Randy Redskin ]
Guest fuji869
He would be a good fit in the Fun-n-Gun. Only thing he does not wear # 81 here.
Larry
I wonder if you folks have considered the cap implications of that move. If CC takes him in the X-draft, then trades him here, then he's still under his existing contract. (We don't have to negotiate his pay, just pay whatever's on the paper). (Unless he wants to try to holdout against a contract he already agreed to).

And, in that scenario, his dead money stays in Houston. We get him for just his salary, not the bonus.

Does that alter your calculations?

(I really like watching CC work: Has any other expansion team tried shopping x-draft players for draft picks?) Art
All we would be responsible for is $3.6 million for Owens this year and we can hit that number. He would be our big fish though in the offseason unless we negoiated him down some and gave him more of a bonus.

I think we would be more wise to put our money into a QB of some sort, but, Owens would be a very intriguing prospect to consider and he could be had without a crushing hit. Die Hard
First it was Mariucci. Now it's Owens. I don't put much stock into these kinds of reports. We'll know soon enough what direction the 49ers will go. I'm not gonna ponder the possibilities until a player/coach is actually 'available'

And with Snyder/Rodgers acting as the defacto GM, I don't think the Skins are on Casserly's speed dial
pga
OH HELL YEAH!

No doubt. I was worried about cap but that was explained above so this is a no brainer. The guy is a stud receiver which is what we have been talking about besides quarterback and DC.

Somebody get me a towel, I'm drooling all over my keyboard!

Alas, to good to be true though.
ADF
It is a shame that he and Mariucci can't get along. I bet Garcia would hate to see him traded. He threw for 32 TD passes but 16 of those went to Owens. I wonder how they would replace that production.
Die Hard
ADF -

Stokes has been steadily improving though no one will mistake him for Terrell Owens. And it looks as if the 49ers are integrating Tai Street into the offense.

There's no doubt the 49ers will be hardpressed to replace ALL of Owens' production... but the cap space relief may help the team 'overall'. If not for the pure benefit of a content lockerroom.

redman
The funnest part of this Owens-trade scenario is the fact that the Cowboys would have to face him twice per year. However, I just don't see this happening. The problems between Owens and Marriuci have existed for two seasons, and it hasn't stopped their team from being successful. Braves On Warpath
The SF GM says this is silly, Owens is NOT on the list.

http://www.sf49ers.com/newsroom/DisplayNews.asp?newsid=
bigchuck
I spoke with Danny and he's getting on his plane to talk to T.O about him coming to D.C. If he isnt he should be. That would be sweet.
