bubba9497
on 980, Spurrier said he hasn't decieded as yet, but said he needed to get more involved in the play calling, and feels foolish without nothing to do on the sidelines. Basically he is leaning towards taking the play calling back next week.
Dirk Diggler
I would have bet my left nut that at the first sign of trouble, SS would resume play calling duties. Looks like it was a safe bet.
Canadian Hog
there must be alot of other coaches feeling "stupid" then on the sidelines. Hue's gotta be given another chance. He called a great game vs. Seattle and played one of the better defenses in the league yesterday. It seemed as though the offense got it going in the 2nd half a little better. I'm all for letting Hue call the plays again on Sunday at Miami, then make a decision after that.
buckeyeG
It does'nt matter....he don't play defense and he don't block for PR.
Blondie
Digger Digger Digger. Thank you for sharing. Sometimes SS sounds like he is on top of things. Sometimes he sounds as if he hasn't a clue. I hate it when he says.....and he does this EVERY week.......looking back we should have......... Stand up and say.......Hey....screwed it up. I will do better. And taking it back from Hue......when we had it won until the last minute. Again I say......WHY????? Blondie
gridironmike
What exactly would be wrong with an offensive-minded coach calling his own plays? Do you think John Fox calls the defenses in Carolina? Marvin Lewis in Cincy? Why don't they collaborate on the play calls. Let Hue call them with Spurriers yay or nay. Two heads are better than one?? Posse81
I hope he learned something from Hue. Hue proved to be a more patient playcaller than Spurrier though I am surprised at the play selection in the first half. It seemed to me like they waited until the second half to use the playcalling formula that worked for them vs. Seattle. Mainly short throws and running Rock while taking shots downfield every now and then. It seemed to open things up later but we couldn't connect. I'm not at all comfortable with Spurrier as a playcaller, especially if that means more Trung and less Rock.
Darth Tater
In the last three games, we've scored 9 points on 4 short-field opportunities. Football games are won by taking advantage of the other guys mistakes, especially boners like that which last year cost us 3-4 games. What I want to know is if Mr. Spurrier or Mr. Jackson can figure out how to take advantage of give-me opportunities like our last three opponents seem want to do. Rock in, Rock out, Hue in, Hue out... maybe Snyder and he decided not to revolve QBs this year, so Spurrier is revolving everything else... I don't know, but it seems like the team is not being very consistent on things, instead being very reactive. On a brighter note, I hope they have learned a few things about blocking and penalties. Seemed to have improved in those regards.
rdsknbill
Blondie, do you have a pic of Rock having that attack of fumbilitis?? :nana: :jk:
codeorama
I think too much of is being made of the success vs. Seattle with Jackson calling the plays. I think Seattle's style of play on D had more to do with the win than Jackson calling plays. Ramsey and the offense have put up bigger numbers with Spurrier calling plays so I don't have a problem either way.
GSF
I don't think it matters much who calls the plays. Jackson's playcalling yesterday was very Spurrier like. Here's next weeks' plan: First down: bomb to Gardner, incomplete Second down: Trung up the gut for 1.5 yards Third down: Slant to Coles for 5 yards Fourth down: Punt Just switch in wr screen to Coles for the slant on every other third down, and you have the plan.

You forgot the last part: Spurrier snatches visor off head and runs shaking fingers through hair. Seriously, this is a mistake. Jackson should call the plays. Spurrier needs to go.

bulldog
perhaps Spurrier shouldn't feel foolish that the team has played better and competed better the past two weeks
SlobberKnockinFootball
Well, I've said this before and I'll say it again. Snyder paid Spurrier $5million a year to run his offense. That's the best quality that Spurrier brings to the table. It's his offensive mind. Granted it's been kind of suspect at times. But If Snyder is going to dish out that kind of money. I expect Spurrier to maximize what he's getting paid to do. That's run the offense. When all this talk about Hue Jackson calling games came around, I just sat there scratching my head. Why in the hell is he going to do that??? Snyder isn't paying him to be a cheerleader on the sidelines. I wish he'd just assume the responsibilities of calling the plays and move on. This teetering back and forth is quite annoying.
gridironmike
Ok, let Hue call the plays until we get to the opponents 30 yard line, then the gunslingers (Spurrier and Ramsey) can step in and finish the job.
