The Seasons over??????

Last time I checked teams played 16 games in the NFL not 10

No one knows what is going to happen the next six games, so giving up and quitting on the Skins at this point is rather silly, besides we all knew coming into the season the playoffs were a slim chance this year. But even if we don't make the playoffs there is still plenty to care about the last six games to make it interesting. Revenge games against the Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles... and possibly spoiling the Eagles or Cowboys playoff hopes. Watching the teams progress over the last six.

Besides come Febuary we all will be in withdrawl, and counting the hours until next seasons kickoff.

Enjoy it while you can, it is a LONG offseason.

I won't be able to watch if all the Dallas games means to us is to be playing spolier. That's sickening. To think that they would have passed us so quickly that we are already relegated to trying to "spoil" their season and not enhance ours is unthinkable. Makes me ill. That's why I want to win a few before we play them-- at least let us pretend that game means something.

If we're 5-8 or worse entering that game, I'm honestly not sure I'd be able to watch.

What I am going to do is watch these next 6 games and look for improvement from the younger players :)

I am not going to get caught up in the numbers game because right now the Redskins will need close to a miracle to get into the playoffs and unlike the Bucs in 2002 that were 4-4 and made the Super bowl, don't have a veteran core to propel them.

I am also going to continue to follow and note the guys that need to go :)

This club needs better production out of the FB, TE, OG, C, DT, DE and CB positions.

what we also need to do is find ways to bring in and replace higher priced talent with lower priced talent that can play at a similar level.

we are paying a fine piece of change for merely solid players such as Renaldo Wynn, Jeremiah Trotter and Jon Jansen.

These players are not poor performers, but they are being paid at a level where you would expect to see DIFFERENCE MAKERS.

Are they difference makers?

And if they are, is it the schemes that are making them less than they are capable of being?

Interesting questions for the next 6 weeks.

with a spot of luck and better play from #11, the Redskins could conceivably win 4 of the last 6 games.

that is in my mind the best case scenario.

the worst case scenario to me is perhaps beating the Bears and Giants and ending up 6-10.

it could happen.

you are right about it being a LONG offseason either way.

the problem is, from past offseasons, I am sure there will be a flurry of activity, I am just not at all sure when all the moves are made that the team will actually be ready to start contending finally once we get to the next opening day.

Thats what im saying, all these people writing their threads about how bad the skins are and why we are bad and why we will continue to be bad, thats bull****.

Ive got news for you people, we arent bad. We just beat Carolina, not technically, but we did beat them, right after beating Seattle. Those were two teams with 2 losses, we beat the Pats as well. We did go into a bit of a slump against the Eagles/Bills/Boys, but it appears we've pretty much fixed our problems. The only reason we havent won some of these games is the inexperience at QB, which just takes time for Ramsey to develope. When you have a young QB your offense is going to be inconsistant, which is what ours is. But for the most part, i like what im seeing out there.

Our defense forced 4 turnovers, thats the second time this year they have forced that many turnovers in a game. That is pretty good.

Yesterday, for the most part we picked up the blitz, we blocked pretty well considering their front 4, we only had 1 penalty. The D stopped the run. We got a little bit of pressure.

We're not that bad people, we're actually pretty good.

I'm liking what im seeing from Spurrier too, though he may not be calling all the plays, he makes them, and he had guys wide open, deep down the field, many times in that game.

I'm with Bulldog, at this point its all about the team improving, young guys developing and seeing what we have for next season. In the process, if we win almost all of those games, then that's an added bonus. Let's see how well we play, take one game at a time, and who knows, by the time everything is said and done, we might find a way to be contending for a spot at season's end. Stranger things have happened. All I'm saying is that I don't wanna put myself in a position where I will be crushed, lifeless, and demoralized, if at seasons end we aren't in the playoffs. By having such high expectations sometimes, even if they are not realistic, we as fans set ourselves up for plenty of pain and hurt. I know that's always the case with me.

Best case scenario is that the 'Skins go 5-1 down the stretch to end up 9-7, where they may sneak in. The only games they really got BEAT were the Tampa Bay and Buffalo games. Every other game was within 7 points. Giants in OT, Eagles on an overthrow for a 2 pointer to tie it, Dallas when we came back late and time ran out, Carolina yesterday...they could, in all actuality, be 7-3 or 8-2. That's the way it goes (as many wise Skins fans have said) with a young QB, and all the penalties/lack of protection the first half of the season. They have been right there in almost all of the games. A little bit of luck (Terrell's should-have-been INT on the final drive yesterday), and some choice calls from the officiating crew (Davis' TD yesterday, that B-S tapping-the-shoulder, I mean, roughing the passer call LaVar got on McNabb in Philly that gave them a TD, etc) and we would be right there. The way the rest of the NFC is playing (minus the Eagles and Panthers), we can still make a run and maybe sneak in. Stranger things have happened. Miami hasn't exactly been lighting it up...if we can somehow steal one this weekend, it's still wide-open.

All too true, in the new NFL of free agency and salary caps, the NFL with all of this parity, the teams that win the close ones end up having only a couple of losses, and the teams that lose the close ones can end up with losing records. That's just the way it goes. Heck you can even be shut out twice and still only have 3 losses... crazy... (heh heh).
