I can't stand Tom Jackson

During the highlights, Tom Jackson says "as you can see, the ball CLEARLY crossed the plane".

No debate by Berman. They only show it once.

I am so sick and tired of the Redskins being screwed over by the officials. Why are us fans the only ones who notice how the zebras bend over backwards to find a way to help our opponents win every week???

There was no way that idiotic official was going to deprive Davis of his "sweet revenge" over a team that "did him wrong".

Did anybody else notice how Baldinger said Spurrier sat him down in favor of the younger backs last year? He failed to mention that Davis was hurt; that was why those backs were playing! Another case of the media sticking it to Spurrier and the Skins.

It pisses me off that we have the technology to make the correct call on that last play and they still can't do it!!

Fumble, Redskins win. Period.

Don't care what happened leading up to the play. They were down there with a good chance to win it, and the defense made the play. Only to be screwed by some blind idiot.

There is a major difference between 5-5 and 4-6.

THis team was on the verge of a turnaround. THanks you friggin idiots

I only read one article or heard any report that even mentioned Davis openly complaining creating a wedge between him and Spurrier.

Believe belief what they want to belief, and many sports umm journalist spin the truth to give the impression they want. Spurrier is evil Stephen davis was the abused step child thrown to the wolces. whatever. he is on a 8-2 team, and got a call on a game brteaking play. Yet everyone wants to feel sorry for him.... why?

It is not just the Skins, but we get the excess of untrue criticism.

This is what I don't get about ESPN NFL Primetime. On the Redskins/Panthers highlights, they buzz by them at rapid speed, even though it was a hard fought game and the Davis TD was disputed for over 10 minutes during the game. During the game people seemed split at first, but after viewing the replay carolina fans went silent(according to live reports from the game) and the announcers were kind of, "ummm..." not sure what to make of it, except that it was so close they might not be able to overturn it. Yet then on NFL Primetime, Tom Jackson just ho hums the TD like it was yesterdays news, and COMPLETELY IGNORES that at NO TIME was it ever an "OBVIOUS" call and then they show the ONLY angle that is favorable to Davis which is the angle behind Davis looking into the endzone. And to top it all off, on the next game's highlight, they break down a drive that was in the middle of a game, pretty much snap by snap. Simply ludicrous. It seems clear that when a sportscaster has an opinion, they are only going to supply info(replays) that helps their own argument instead of giving an unbiased opinion based on gamefilm.

This call kept me up all night. What the f*ck. Why doesn't the NFL employ the referees so they can make the right call. What an absolute rediculous blown call. Why is the league acting this way towards my team? The ref's seem like their just waiting to pull out one of theose "barking the cadance" calls on us every weeek.

I agree. I am not apart of the "media conspiracy against the skins" group. I was more speaking on the way Tom Jackson handled the highlights and the demeanor behind them. All I wanted was a balanced look at the play which was not "obvious" no matter what the final call would have been.

I speak out more for officials inconsistency around the league rather then just on the Skins behalf.

Kilmer, the thing you have to consider is when these "screwjobs" are in a team's favor, they are glossed over a lot more quickly. When the Skins get a call or a good-fortune play, we accept it (and believe we earned it) and move on to the next play as fans. When a play like that goes against you it is much more memorable.

I can't sit here and tell you a call over the last year or two that won us a game. But can you pick out another one in that time-span that lost us one?

Had we won yesterday, the Panther fans would be ****ing about the phantom pass interference call. They would have a legitimate gripe but we would probably take the stance of "oh well, sucks for them..we got the call."

Eh, we got one in the Panthers game itself. We had a pass interference call on a ball that looked pretty well overthrown.

Granted, we also did not get a pass interference call when we were on defense when Muhammed clearly pushed off Smoot (btw, Smoot, awesome CB that he is, didn't even complain, but Bowen complained on his behalf... that Smoot looks better and better each game!)

I can name several.

The Eagles game this year. Arrington is called for a roughing call on McNabb erasing a 3rd down incompletion. They went on to score a FG. LAter, Whitting hits Ramsey in the head, he lofts the ball up and Kalu grabs it for 6. No call on the PF.

The Giants game this year. Trotter gets called for unsportsmanlike while Mitchell gets no call. The Giants get a td. McCants gets a taunting call taking us out of FG range, yet Jim Finn gets no call when he spins the ball in OT.

The Patriots game. Didnt hurt us, but it almost did. The insane Coles incompletion call.

Dallas game. We get called for making noise on defense. Giving them a 1st and goal.

NYG game last year. Tiki fumbles, we recover with less than 4 minutes left in the game. They rule him down and upon review decide that he wasnt down, but that some other rule superceded it so we couldnt recover.

SF game last year. SF muffs a punt, we recover but the Zebras rule Smoot pushed a player into the PR. Even though the replay showed no contact.

NYG game 3 years ago. Jeff George is leading the team to a game winning TD or at least a tying FG. He completes a pass to the Giants 10. Run up and spike it. AFTER THE SPIKE, the officials decide to go back and review the play PRIOR to that. Even though the rules dont allow it, and even though he caught the ball. It's ruled an incompletion. Eddie Murray misses a FG and we lose.

Do you need more?

What is this week's angle? Spurrier goes back to Florida to the home city of...Jimmy Johnson. Snyder has lunch with Johnson and causes an uproar. Meanwhile, the media begins pulling for Ricky Williams (who the Redskins could have drafted, remember?)and the Dolphins to turn their season around.

Here's the question: Which media member will break a story about how Ricky Williams is out to show the Redskins why they should have drafted him? I bet its Pricksco.

Hmm it seems I misread your post, I was doing it the other way around, listing when we were beneficiaries of poor refereeing (I kind of assumed that you were asking for examples of the one that would be harder for us, as fans, to see)

Did Muhammed push off? ALL FUC#ING DAY!

Yeah, my personal opinion is we got a call on that pass interference play. And yes, that Muhammed was pushing off a lot too, no doubt. I'm not saying I thought the refs did a great job, but for the first time in a very, very long time, I thought we got the benefit of the doubt (and in this case, I thought there was a lot of doubt on the catchability of that ball, but that's just my opinion) on one call, which was nice to see. Granted, there were plenty of other calls that seemed foolish, but oh well- we could have easily won this game regardless.

As many others have posted, in this era of the NFL with all of the parity, officiating and little plays become the difference between a 4-6 team and an 8-2 team. The Panthers have come out on top in many close games, why do you think that is? Some of it has to be luck; if a call doesn't go there way at one point or another, they could easily lose one of those games, that's all there is to it. Those are the breaks.
