redman
That's funny. It's also sad in that it points out the painful failure of a QB who has every physical tool necessary to become the best QB who ever played, but a mind and heart that allow him to do no better than be a journeyman. Look how much more Doug Flutie has accomplished in just the last three years, with so much less physically, than Jeff George has accomplished in the last eleven. George is Ryan Leaf with a louder crash and a bigger explosion. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. You're just too damn tight!" - John Riggins to Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor ---------------------- "I fear we've awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve." - Japanese Imperial Admiral Yamamoto, after hearing that the Japanese declaration of war failed to reach the U.S. government before the attack upon Pearl Harbor

bulldog
Jeff George coasted on his ability from Day 1. Name one thing he did to improve himself. You can't. He has horrible mechanics, doesn't set when he throws, uses poor judgment in checking down his reads and fails to demonstrate any emotion on the field except disdain for whatever team he happens to be playing for. He shows no mental toughness or ability to handle even the slightest adversity. He seemingly can't be productive unless he has Cris Carter and Randy Moss to throw the ball to. Well, 4 other qb's made feast on that banquet in Minnesota so that proves nothing. George is described as a family man and quiet loner who does not associate with teammates to any degree. That is the ideal profile for a punter or kicker but the quarterback as the leader of the team has to be more clued into what is happening in the locker room than that. Beaudry
George actually had some success with Atlanta and Oakland, too. In Oakland he was replaced by Gannon because they were switching to a WCO. I'm not saying George was great, but he did have his moments where he was successful. You don't last 10 years in this league without ever being any good. ------------------ ShonyX
