2 acres and a McMansion in McLean ....or 500 acres and a Castle in France.....

(but if you buy the french shack... you get to keep 4.5 million euro pocket money)

Question:   pick one.

FORTRESS FOR SALE IN FRANCE    Price: 21,200,000 €   Exceptional renovated medieval fortress
- exterior classed as, interior listed as «historic monument» -,
surrounded by moat, 3000 m² (32k square feet) habitable surface area with 40 rooms.
The castle enjoys all comforts: lift, Jacuzzi, computer infrastructure etc.
500 acres of land with woods, pasture and lake.

The castle was built along the lines of the great feudal castles that dotted the border between Aquitaine and the Kingdom of France: an impregnable medieval fortress, which has remained intact across the centuries. It is a prototype of military architecture from the 10th to the 14th & 15th centuries and appears in reference books on architecture of the period.

c2.png In the middle of its 500 acres of woods and pastureland, this majestic monument has survived the many conflicts that took place in the much fought-over region. It even witnessed the death of one of history’s greatest figures, Richard the Lionheart!

For 28 million I would buy as much land as possible and build a 3000 square foot home right in the center of it.

Though this thread is ironic because mcsluggo argued with me once about living in major metro areas and real estate

Easy answer...Castle in France and pocket the 4.5 million Euro's.  Wait for the dollar to tank and convert the Euro's back to Dollar's and move back to the US.  Rent my Castle out or make it a tourist attraction.

Castle. Easier to fortify in case of zombie apocalypse... (or freeloading relatives. Same thing, honestly)

It does have a moat.  ;)
