Still better than Frozen 2. That had to be worst movie of the year (given the expectations).

They actually have a bit in common. Both are poorly written with confusing, overstuffed stories and an over-reliance on fan service moments and pretty visuals to spackle over the enormous holes in the script. Olaf being the equivalent to a cute new droid, of course.

There are rumors at over at the Force.Net that JJ's original script for ROS was heavily tampered with by Disney Execs because the original script wasn't

"fan friendly" enough and they were afraid of "having another TLJ on their hands."

What a mess.

Further evidence of Kathleen Kennedy being useless...

Ya know, all this Star Wars talk aside, I’m really upset that Frozen 2 wasn’t written for 30-50 year old men. What were they thinking?!?!?! Someone needs to be fired.

It was to educate them. Both are metoo byproducts. Olaf is a gender fluid asexual like c3po. In episode X Chewie will self identify as a female Ewok.

it was the right decision to stop them from making the main villain in the rival movie a rando that nobody had heard of unless you watched 7 years of cartoons.

The rest of that article, if it’s even true, just reads like a crybaby circle jerk wishlist of what they want to be the case to justify their hate. It’s not like JJ has a great track record. I’d have much rather watched a Rian Johnson episode 9.

this fan base is just toxic and a lot of the comments in this and your linked thread show that. It’s probably good the movies have ended

1.  Disney isn't going to stop making Star Wars movies.

2.  You are right, but it also well shows that the idea that the hardcore fans like this movie is flawed.  Disney has managed to make a movie that the harder core fans don't like and the critics don't like.  If Disney thought this movie was going to make their harder core fans happy, then they miscalculated badly.

Just back from Star Wars.  And y'all are ****ed.

This was one of the best of the series.  Better than any of the prequels or the sequels.  Haven't decided if it outranks any of the OT.

Reason one:  The music.  John Williams did really operatic scoring for the OT.  Create a theme for each major character, and play it whenever that character is on the screen.   But since then?  Has there been one theme that you really liked, as music?  Duel of the Fates ranks up there, but that was it.  But this movie?  Back to the original themes.

Y'all may say "they stroked the fans".  I say "about time they got back to good music."

The Star Wars Saga To Be Release On 4K

Posted by  Dustin on December 20, 2019 at  10:00 AM CST

Digital Bits is reporting that Disney will release Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga as a 9-film, 27-disc 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray box set on 3/31/2020.

"All right, we’ll have more to report tomorrow on The Bits, but I wanted to jump in here quickly this evening with word from retail sources that Disney will release Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga as a 9-film, 27-disc 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray box set on 3/31/2020.

Here’s the thing: We know for sure that Best Buy will have an exclusive SKU. What we don’t know yet is if the entire box set is Best Buy exclusive, or if Best Buy will just have exclusive packaging.

But that obviously means Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will street on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 3/31/2020 as well.

This set does not appear to include Solo: A Star Wars Story (which is already available on 4K), nor will it include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so Rogue One will likely be available on 4K separately that same day."

I meant the mainline Skywalker continuation of the OT trilogy story. Supposedly anyway that’s what episode 9 was meant to be.

FWIW, the trivia on IMDB says that the original story for this movie was supposed to feature Leah. (First movie Han. Second Luke. Third Leah.). But then she died, so they had to trim her role way back.

Disney already has 3 Star Wars movies schedule for Dec. 22, Dec. 24 and Dec. 26.  Is it a new trilogy?  Expect an announcement in the New Year.

9 films, 27 discs?  Obviously they think they've got a **** ton of "bonus features".

One UHD one regular bluray and one bonus disc per movie.

Should have been 36. They have 3D transfers for all the movies. An extra 3D Blu-ray would have been nice for people with home projectors.

Hopefully they have the non special edition versions of the original trilogy. That’s never been released other than vhs and laserdisc.

They need to make movies based off The Old Republic universe and lore

That’s what the game of thrones dudes were working on before they left. Hopefully Lucasfilms doesn’t abandon it. Those are also by far the best stories in the legends EU and video games.

Obi-wan on tatooine and the backstory of Han and Lando are useless in my opinion. Depending on far back they go they can have a Yoda cameo but that’s it. Keep it fresh.

Thank God that D&D isn't running things in the future. Anyone who saw GoT play out knows they ran that **** into the ground because they can't write at all. The last thing Star Wars needs is its own X-Men Origins.

That said, I'm down for some Old Republic films and, of course, a Shadows of the Empire adaptation.

Do you re-cast for Shadows of the Empire, do you Tarkin them, or do you go fully animated?

Thank you Larry.  The franchise deserved a finale that tied up loose ends, gave the main characters proud deaths, and left the new class (with the exception of Jeb Porkins' grand-nephew, who got stabbed in the lung) with hope for the future.
