Tom [Giants fan]
Well, the way it looked after the Redskins first five games, it appeared that the division would be between the Eagles and Giants. Luckily, the Giants stayed in that race today and showed me something I didn't think they could do. Coming from behind is not their strong suit but something woke them up in the second half. The Redskins have woken up themselves. Very impressive offensive performance. I guess it just took some time for the players to get used to and accept the system. Should be interesting the rest of the year. The Redskin/Eagle games should be quite interesting and I will be at the bar watching them. By the way, the Redskins are 3-0 since I wished them luck. Me and my big mouth!!!
redman
Good (and very necessary) win for your guys today over our common enemy. Had the G'ints lost today, their 3-5 and our 3-5 would have felt very different. I think they saved their season with that win, especially since this was a divisional game for them. What's fascinating about the Redskins chances is that we play Philly twice, and we're 1.5 games behind them. Those games are always close, so this will be fun. Again I pose the question: Has there ever been a division winner that began the season 0-5? ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. Larry
Did you see the sign in the stadium: "11-5"? Way too optimistic, to me. (Although optimism beats the heck out of wondering if Marty will still be here at the end of the season). But 8-8, or even 9-7, look do-able. And might be good enough to win the division. (I don't see us winning in the playoffs, this year. But just making it would be good).
Zen-like Todd
I'm guessing that 9-7 gets us in if we don't drop any more division games. And those are.... Cards * 2 Eagles * 2 Cowboys
Brave
I am just happy that the team is showing life. There was more spark on that field today than I can remember in a long time. I still expect Washington to play some bad games. Everything isn't perfect here ... it just feels like it after the first month of the season. Still, it's hard not tolook at that schedule and think ...
Mickalino
I have gone from cautious optimism, to mild optimism. Mainly because of this : For the last 5 weeks, ever since the KC game, the Skins have shown methodical and clear improvement each game, and in each area. What more can you ask for ? Art
Tom, I'm very pleased you guys won today, but, you have to let me in on the secret because I don't get it. What do Fassel and Payton see that makes them think you guys are a dynamic passing offense? I HATE seeing the Giants running that type of offense. It seems so unnatural. Stick the ball on the ground and tighten up that coverage in the secondary because not every team will have the Cowboys QBs and their DB friendly passes. I refuse to say a 3-5 football team is "in the race" but, before I go to sleep for the next couple of weeks, I will be calculating just that possibility . ------------------ Doom is in the box. Guest fuji869
Redman to answer your question, I do not think there has been a divison winner after an 0-5 start. The 1992 San Diego Chargers started 0-4 and won the AFC West.
Zen-like Todd
I'm with Art. If I'm Sean Payton, my offense begins and ends with Tiki and a much slimmer Dayne. Although I still intensely dislike the Giants , I really admire what Tiki is able to do, especially given his size.
NavyDave
Remember that last year the giants said they would implement part of an offense that had consistently whip their a$$es and that was the offense of Norv. The problem with his use is that just like Norv they forget that running the ball is essential to making the offense click
tonybanksfan
Well you all know who is going to win the division dont ya the one the only the Washington Redskins
@DCGoldPants
That is a good point ND. However, the way the giants have been playing lately....they aren't winning ANYTHING. Its us or Philly. ------------------ <IMG SRC="http://www.extremeskins.com/ubb/ranks/flamer.gif" border=0> "We'll win the Superbowl cause the Media told me so!" Redskinstailgate
It is a two horse race and the Giants have no part in it. After watching them yesterday, again I was completly unimpressed with that overrated team. The only thing that surprised me was they won, then again it was the Cowgirls. Hoyaparanoia
It's amazing that after 0-5 that Skins and division title can be put in the same sentance. Wat to go guys.
Ford
That damn Stephen Davis fumble could come back to haunt us. Thing is .. at the time .. were any of you over concerned with it? Everyone was saying the season was 'lost' and it didn't look like it would end up mattering at all that we lost to the cowboys. we need to tear em up when they come to fedex. ------------------ The Redskins HQ Forum RedskinsHQ.com
Art
I look at that Dallas game as a win we should have had, but like some others, I reconcile it with the Carolina game which is a game we shouldn't have had. If I couldn't do that I would go insane about the Cowboys game . ------------------ Doom is in the box.
bulldog
If I still had to bet on it, I would say the Eagles will probably get on a roll and win the East in the end, but starting from an 0-5 hole the thought of the playoffs is still surreal to me at this point. The good thing for the Redskins is the future is shaping up to be much brighter than it appeared several weeks ago. Players are stepping up and answering questions about themselves. On defense, Arrington has arrived. Smoot has proven to be one of the better value picks in the draft and late bloomer Kenard Lang gives us some youth and energy up front and a guy that can perhaps step in and replace Bruce Smith at the end of the year at end. Together with Champ Bailey that gives the team 4 anchors on defense to build around. In preseason, only Bailey was a given. Other youngsters such as Pierce and Ohalete may be major contributors down the line.
Tom [Giants fan]
You guys have to remember that you are talking about the Giants and them passing when they were way behind the Redskins and Cowboys. When you are way behind, you pass a lot. If the Giants were ahead by a lot on either one, I'm sure you would have seen a lot of running.

Pete
The way I see it, if the Skins can overcome a five game dive, the Giants can get back on track just as fast. Although I didn't expect them to pull it out, I'm glad they did. Honorable weed-hopper find inner peace in home when wife’s team also is victorious . I don't see the Skins in the race just yet. To be honest, they still scare the snot out of me right now.The improvement they’ve made has been outstanding, but I don’t know how long our guys that are dinged can go on before they start to drop. I'm a bit uptight about LaVar and Smoot. I would prefer Bruce not missing anymore time, if he keeps up the play we saw yesterday. Not sure what to think about Alexander. I’m just waiting for Davis to have his usual sprain/pull, but for the first time in three seasons I’m not real uptight, with Carter and Bennett in the wings. Also with the way we have been mixing it up, Davis may stay healthy the entire season. That being said, if he goes down it’s still a big loss to the team. He's our work horse. If all were healthy, I'd wish we didn't have the buy this week. The head of steam we have now would be nice to go into Denver with. Will the team be able to keep the fire burning for the extra week? I see this week off as an important test of just how focused this team is. Although Denver is gettin spanked as I type, I think most consider them a top shelf team. The Eagles give us fits for the most part, but the big one for me is Dallas. If this team comes out fired up for Dallas, and stomps the snot out of them, after winning at least one of the other games, the race is on. ------------------ Steal your face right off your head
