skinsforlife101
What I took out of the Miami game is that Scot McCloughan is rebuilding this team from the inside out. If the o-line and d-line can preform at this level all season I would be happy and say things are moving in the right direction. We were inside the Miami 30 yard line multiple times and could not score that is on Jay Gruden and Sean McVay. My message to Jay and Sean would be take chances let Cousins open it up a bit get the young guys involved a bit. Like I said in multiple threads before if Cousins is "your guy" let him open it up and take chances. I, for one, think Cousins is an admirable back up QB that could win you a few games coming off the bench but will never be an elite or above average QB in this league. Realistically, I think this team is about two draft classes and a new head coach away from competing (secondary, LB, QB, and o-line depth). skinsforlife101
After watching the Falcons-Eagles game last night and comparing their performance with Skins: 1. Skins OL did a much better job of protecting Cousins than the Eagles line for Bradford. 2. Chris Chester is the starting RG for the Falcons and they are running the stretch zone blocking scheme. Their OL is light and gets blown off the ball like the Skins in years past. Skins OL is built for the NFC East again. Huge positive!!!! 3. Skins top 2 WRs aren't as good but Falcons have a bigger drop-off with Hankerson as their #3 WR (and Williams!). 4. Other QBs have interceptions too. Falcons threw two picks and Eagles one. The Falcons gave up a lot to get Julio Jones. Roddy White will always be a beast. The Falcons are built to win now. But, I do think that our wide receiving corp. is good compared to a lot of other teams. To touch on your forth point Matt Ryan is a proven NFL QB if he throws a pick so what we know that he can bounce back and throw 2 or 3 tds in one game. Same with Sam Bradford. Cousins is not a proven QB in this league, he has a history of throwing multiple ints in most of his starts. Put it this way the skins are down 6 points and are on the opponents 30 yard line who would you rather have as your qb Matt Ryan, Sam Bradford or Kirk Cousins. illone
Oline played pretty well considering the new guys up front, and I thought Jason Hatcher/Chris Culliver were dominant.
RedBeast
OL OL OL OL Wow, they were good. Just before the game I thought they were going to be the biggest issue, but they were probably one of the strongest units on the team. I thought Scherff was going to get abused, but he moved well and stood his ground like a champ. Very impressive performance for his first game as a pro. Imagine how Scherff will be in his 3rd year. Now who said we shouldn't have taken him? I guess that he will have a few down games this year, but if he can put up another solid game against the Ram's D-Line? Man! Then some of other DL's will be much easier for him. With a few hard games under his belt, and some more experience we should really start to see that investment start to shine. I can't wait until we can start plowing some of the weaker D's on the right side with "Moses and the Sheriff" mauling and Morris/Jones just eating up field. Bonez3
I left out one of the best things about this game... I'm actually very excited to see them play again this week. They really did play a pretty competent Off/Def game. I have true optimism
RandyHolt
I am encouraged that we got pressure despite blitzing the 2nd least in 4 years, league wide. Hatcher led the charge.
