Burgold
Gruden was the biggest negative of this game. Draw play on 3rd and 13 deep in Miami's zone early in the game then 3rd and 3 run to Thompson deep in Miami's territory were crucial to the game. The 3rd and three was much worse than the 3 and 13. If ya didn't fool 'em the first time you aren't going to fool them the second time and Cousins was making the five yard throws.
Phat Hog
Morris with the rock in his hands OL did a better than expect job on run blocking and pass pro JReed - please stay healthy! Preston Smith - Trent Murphy, that's a train at the end of the tunnel! Defense in first half was stout...no adjustments at half time became apparent
pjfootballer
Yeah I'm a bit puzzled by the love for this guy. No love. I thought he was OK. I guess everyone expects him to take every punt to the house. He showed a couple of good moves on the punt returns. The safety just made an unbelievable tackle on the end around. Again, no glaring mistakes so he was OK.
RonArtest15
PJ - on the 2nd INT, the DB had possession (with one arm) when his bottom hit the turf. Clean pick. As far as the good... -Alfred Morris...running out there w/ a purpose. -Pierre Garcon/Jordan Reed...making plays. -Williams/Moses/Scherff -Entire starting defense (I say starting, because Amerson was FOOD when he subbed in)

Should have at least challenged, although it may not have been overturned. I think it deserved a look.
Renegade7
Trent Robinson killed it in post-game interview. A lot more character on this team, need to calm down when on the field.

Aireskoi
Yeah I'm a bit puzzled by the love for this guy. Maybe it's the desire to have Roberts replaced, I wasn't impressed with either today. Ross should be active next week unless a WR is brought in somehow. I get the sick feeling we won't see #11 for a while with the hammy, hope I'm wrong but he has a history with them and it looked bad. He's going for an MRI, so we'll see. mike42
Maybe our defense has improved dramatically? When was the last time our defense only gave up 10 points against good offense? Hopefully todays game isn't a fluke or Miami's offensive isn't terrible. Gruden seemed too conservative on key situations. He didn't seem confident with his players in certain situations. But in all fairness, some of his better play calls went unnoticed as the plays were not executed. Credit goes to Miami on some of those.
Duckus
We looked competent NFL for a majority of the game. That was nice.

SkinsHokieFan
I have no problem with Gruden going "conservative" To be honest on the TD drive, that was vintage Redskins football. I loved it. Power running, get down to the end zone and bully our way to a score More of that please
Larry
Joining the chorus of people applauding the run game. (And commitment thereto.) Going into this game, I didn't think there was a way in the world that we'd be able to run between the tackles, against this DL. And we just shoved it down their throats, over and over again. And props to Sherff, too. Only time I saw Suh, all game, was when the TV was showing him getting away with playing dirty. Really can't ask for more from a rookie in his first NFL start. Note to our new OL: The Redskins have a tradition. Whenever a RB has a 100 yard game, he owes the OL a dinner. Tell AlMo to pay up. Our first half D was phenomenal. Second half, not as much, but I credit that to Miami making adjustments. I was also proposing, in the game chat, that if we pulled out the W, I thought we needed to give a game ball to Hatcher. I think he had two sacks, two blocked passes, and something else, a fumble recovery? And I think Captain Kirk looked like a pretty good, starting NFL QB. I have no problem with Gruden going "conservative" To be honest on the TD drive, that was vintage Redskins football. I loved it. Power running, get down to the end zone and bully our way to a score More of that please I think at one point in that drive, the announcers pointed out that the Redskins had run 10 offensive plays, and eight of them were runs. clskinsfan
Defense was solid. Especially Hatcher. He had a monster game. Crowder is going to bust a couple of returns this season. Major upgrade there. OL was outstanding against a very good front 7. Almo is still a beast. These are my high points. I will take the bad stuff to the other thread. Wildbunny
Good point? No penalties on Scherff. And the Rook took care of Suh nicely. Love it. I liked Morris, as usual, Jones wasn't that great today. Our D was good, but Amerson was a nightmare tonight when Hall was out. He made a nice play, only to **** it up on the TD the next same play. Clearly, Miami played on him and won that drive. Pretty pleased with Cousins, as PJ. 2nd int wasn't an int to me. I've even noticed Kai kick off into the endzone! Woot! Definately a game we should have won if we didn't mentally self destructed at the end of the third and went penalties heavy. We've got some work to do on that part of the game as we never gathered up. But a good game to watch, we looked like a young football team. Ghost of
I will say that I was fairly confident it would be a repeat of that Miami-Washington game from years ago (16-13, I think.) Lots of positives from individuals and some units (like offensive line.) I liked that pressure was at least a part of the game at certain points, including the big sack, mad scramble and fumble recovery. I drafted Morris 2nd or 3rd round a week ago, and that's paying off. He's still a good player, wish people appreciated him more (including other NFL fans.)

Burgold
Actually, with all the grief we give him... Lavaou deserves some props too. It wasn't only Scherff and Moses holding up their end. The middle held most of the game for the first time in forever.
Wildbunny
If this keeps up, I will owe Joe Barry an apology. Seeing our D holds on after the first INT was a thing of beauty we haven't been witnessing for so long! Dammit, we lost a game we clearly should have won, but I'm still happy for us fielding a football team WOOT!
TD_washingtonredskins
I can't say how happy I am with this. If Moses/Scherff keep this up, we are looking at quickly having an elite level o-line next year by simply plugging in an average LG next to Trent. Preston Smith was terrific. Might be the best pure pass rusher on the roster right now If Scherff and Smith are adequate-or-better starters already (and it's early, so we don't know) then I would say that's a great sign for those of us who have a "McCloughan is here so let's enjoy watching this team evolve into a contender over the next couple seasons" outlook. skins island connection
One thing I took from this game was, IT WAS A GAME! FAINALLY! It wasn't a blow-out, we weren't embarrassed at home. We lost, but we lost to a team with a good defense, underrated in many's eyes. Our own defense was a welcomed sight, even if it was from radio. Yes there were some breakdowns, but overall much much improved from 'that other guy's' defensive Chinese fire drill nightmare. They did a good job, and true they weren't up against a high powered offense, they played more than well enough to win. Cousins played pretty good; again, against a good defense, his 1st game as 'the man', the loss of DJax, he did a good job. Morris and the running game in general needs no introduction. A-Train, B-Train, C-Train, the whole damned Union Pacific line ran very well, with the help of a much improved o-line. What disappointed me was the mental breakdown costing us penalties. That is a discipline issue and should be the #1 priority of Gruden, but I think they will gel as the season goes.
88Comrade2000
Alfred Morris was his usual great self. II hope his final year with the Redskins sees him go out,the way he started. Getting at least 1613 yards. See him up there among Top Skins backs; would be a great way for him to finish his run here. Then I wish him well, when he goes elsewhere. I hope he ends up in the HOF. autoidiodyssey
The young guys on the right side played great. Suh had 2 tackles and was a non factor the whole game. The one sack looked like a blown protection call, hard to know whose fault that was. Putting up 161 yds rushing and only 1 sack against that D line is significant. Kirk had the bad pick but responded well after that and went 5-6 with a TD. He orchestrated the O all day changing plays at the line and looked generally composed. There was a good flow at times.
