Springfield
Yep, our secondary is going to be picked on all season long. It sea like we are going to get smoked regularly with these guys. It's going to take some time. One of the next couple of drafts, we will need to pick a real cover corner with a first round pick. We need to draft a guy and then NOT trade him to Denver for a dime-a-dozen player that could have been had in the first 4 rounds of any other draft. Anyhow, our secondary will probably lose us 6 games or so by themselves this season.
TSO
That's not enough. You will need this: This is a really good tip. Most people do not realize that Irish whiskey is frequently tripled distilled (Jameson is 3x distilled) and the bad stuff that causes hangovers is almost completely filtered out. Follow it with a shot of pickle juice for hydration and you're good to go after the game. Really, guys? Two Rule 11s in a row?
Checmate101
I don't see a concern as of right now..first preaseason game, jitters and all...like most said secondary is mostly good depending on the front seven...and I think we have enough good players up front to do that...Most of the stuff Joe Barry was talking about in the offseason how the defense will be, we did none of that, saw mostly the dlineman just standing straight up after the snap, not firing off the ball...also think it was very vanilla To be honest, I like the secondary...Hall did look like a guy coming off of injury though, playing not to get hurt, and I'm alright with that in a preseason game..Cully is mostly a bump and run guy, but he played mostly off the receiver the other night. After the we play Baltimore in the 3rd game, and we still look like that, the ask me the question again...but without our best defender in Kerrigan and the goodness of Junior Galette..I'm not worried..I trust Joe Barry
London Kev
The secondary is a concern and has been for years, obviously the injuries don't help. We even had Dunbar (sp?) playing back there in the 4th quarter, and he's a WR. I didn't notice how he played, but he did deflect a pass.

DC9
The one thing that I am starting to lean towards is that D. Hall needs to go. He was beat at least twice. I know it's preseason, and yes... I know he got two separate surgeries. I just don't think he has the recovery speed to be playing the off coverage he likes to. And as a man on the wrong side of 30 myself, I know it's harder to come back from stuff like that and perform at a high level. I think he would be gone had it not been for all of the injuries we've suffered back there.
ZRagone
My only thought watching D-Hall the other night is that he looked to be playing at 70% speed and intensity. The question comes down to is that due to injury or due to cheating a bit during preseason. Given Halls history, the latter wouldn't surprise me
Warhead36
D Hall continues to whiff open field tackles, going the full steam SC highlight hit instead of fundamental tackling. I like Culliver's physicality and aggressiveness but he's going to get his fair share of penalties. Unfair to judge him on one game, over the course of a season the good will outweigh the bad. Our Safeties still suck.
BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93
That's the thing with Hall. He already is hit or miss in terms of mechanics and adding two of the most debilitating injuries an athlete can get... Mannnn I'm nervous Hell I expected him to be in a battle for a spot before camp and now it looks like that he's already be guaranteed the job
Conn
Any specific observations about Goldson from the game from anyone? I'm one of those uncultured football observer swine who can't help but follow the ball on any given play. That's the thing with Hall. Mannnn I'm nervous Hell I expected him to be in a battle for a spot before camp and now it looks like that he's already be guaranteed the job I'll admit that I was shocked Breeland didn't get the starting nod. Let him move inside when necessary, but he's one of our top -2 cover corners and that seems obvious to me.

The question comes down to is that due to injury or due to cheating a bit during preseason. Given Halls history, the latter wouldn't surprise me Two achilles injuries from a guy who knows just how particularly cheap talk is. I think he's done. I think we'd get more out of starting one of the younger bucks back there if one of them could just stay healthy or on the straight and narrow. That's the thing with Hall. He already is hit or miss in terms of mechanics and adding two of the most debilitating injuries an athlete can get... Mannnn I'm nervous Hell I expected him to be in a battle for a spot before camp and now it looks like that he's already be guaranteed the job Precisely this. And to compound the pissed-off-ness, one of our draft picks was claimed when we were trying to get him to IR. That was bush league... Wouldn't mind seeing Cromartie-Smith or whatever get a shot, but he completely blew an assignment in the 3rd quarter on Thursday that was mind boggling and Jarrett ended up having to cover for him over the top. Thinking back to how poorly Sherman and Brouwner played at times during their first season up there, maybe we have a guy or two who can send out there to work the kinks out and get quality reps. At least that's my hope. I can root for improvement, but I can't root for watching Hall go out there to get cooked like he has, knowing the injuries he's coming back from. CBass1724
We are talking about practice games. DHall will be no better or worse than he has been his whole career here. He is what he is. Plus I think our front 7 will finally hide some secondary deficiencies this season. Besides, it's all about getting off the field on 3rd down. So, 3rd down defense would be my biggest concern. Koolblue13
I have no worries about Hall. I'm not surprised it'll take him some time to get back to game speed. CC and Bash will be fine. I'm hoping Amerson can turn it around.
The Sean and Laron show
D Hall gonna D Hall... Soft coverage mixed with too much yapping and sprinkles of jumping on the pile late. Hopefully this is his last year of being counted on to be a major contributer. I like the toughness Culliver displayed, he and Breeland should make a nice physical duo. Not sure about the safeties but with the DC teaching our secondary to follow the QB's eyes i forsee a lot of double moves and pump fakes getting them out of position. Like others have mentioned this secondary will only go as far as our pash rush lets them.
Bang
if breeland gets healthy soon i will feel better about Hall. frankly, i was a little annoyed when it was apparently Hall's job to lose,, the guy has miles, and a double achilles is no small injury. A corner NEEDS his ankles... and given how well Breeland stepped up last year, i figured Hall would have to prove he could still hold it down. Culliver made a nice couple of tackles, and i especially liked him laying a hammer on the RBs thigh and dropping him in his tracks when he was the last man on the edge. bt his PI penalty was a bad one... a stupid one.., and he needs to play smarter. I don't know his proclivity to commit penalties in SF.. so I hope that was an unusual occurrence. ~Bang

SkinsTillIDie
Just think of the fact we had Biggers, Merriweather and Clark starting last year and you should feel a bit better. Next year, we'll be saying the same thing about Hall, Goldson, and Ihenacho / Johnson Also, two huge members of the secondary coverage were out last night... Ryan Kerrigan and Junior Gallete. Sounds just like the notion that Albert Haynesworth was going to make the whole defense better because he commands double or triple teams every snap. I have no worries about Hall. I'm not surprised it'll take him some time to get back to game speed. CC and Bash will be fine. I'm hoping Amerson can turn it around. Have we forgotten that Hall's been a widely inconsistent and generally sub-par starting corner for us for the duration of his tenure? Before a double Achilles tear? We need the absolutely best versions of Culliver/Hall/Goldson/Ihenacho/Breeland/Amerson each game just to be middle of the pack. Our secondary will cost us games this year
DC9
Sounds just like the notion that Albert Haynesworth was going to make the whole defense better because he commands double or triple teams every snap. Well actually, when he played he did. But if you are just going to try and drop a smart ass one line and act like either pass rush has nothing to do with the success of a secondary OR Murphy and Smith are better than Kerrigan and Junior than do me a favor and don't quote me. I've got no time for that kind of logic.
Morrison J
Next year, we'll be saying the same thing about Hall, Goldson, and Ihenacho / Johnson Have you come to this conclusion after watching one preseason game? Only a Skins fan would write off three of our most important starters after literally no more than 15 reps.

RandyHolt
It sounds like a bend dont break is possible. I heard the theme is to let no one get behind the DBs. With a realy strong front 7, the back 4 just need to hold down the fort. I have more concerns with our coaches on D more than personnel. A D lacking on talent can be coached up to compete. Our questionable DBs have better resumes than our DC does.
