Trade for Russell Wilson

  1. 1. Would you trade RG III + Kirk Cousins for Russell Wilson?

I say no - check that - HELL NO!!!

It has nothing to do with RW or his abilities or lack there of is some cases. I don't want guys from other teams for our key skill positions until we have a solid team around them. You put Rogers, Brady, Manning Brees etc on this team and we win what, 5 more games. That still leaves us out of the POs. Even if we make it we go nowhere once we are in. And RW is not anywhere near as good as any of those guys.

Let's build the team from within. This is clearly a make it or break it yr for Robert no matter what side of the I love/hate Robert side of things you are on. If he shows the right improvement, that would best for the team. If not, kick him to the curb along with Cousins (Unless Cousins ends up starting this season fro some reason, no way he stays after this yr. He will hit the FA market and get picked up.)

Keep McCoy or another veteran to start for another yr or two and find our QB in the next draft.

I liked this post, especially the areas highlighted in red. I'd like to see Scot build the team around him.  We used to just go out and get "players," but Scot is looking for a specific player to fit our philosophy.  We finally have a team philosophy on what type of players we want and what type of identity we want to bring.

I am typically a half glass full type guy, but I think people have our roster pegged pretty well. How many true starters do we have on our team? Maybe 6 to 10 maybe. Only 1 position on the team is really settled and that's WR. You might say RB but really we have just 1 guy with no confirmed back-up.

WE do have a lot of potential. Some guys have been starters early and then fell off and are looking for redemption - Dashon Goldston and Ricky Jean Francois come to mind that were good early and then fell off the last yr or two. Someone like Jeron Johnson and a few others are looking to break out from early disappointment.

I like how we are building, but we are still a long way off.

I wouldn't say a "long way off," but we have work to do.  I think what JMorrison is trying to say is, some fans think we are so bereft of talent that we're doomed to 2, 3 and 4 win seasons for the next 3 years.  I think with the talent on the roster and with some key coaching changes, that win total can hover from 6 to 9 in the next couple of years. There are some new players that have a lot to prove, but some that we've acquired have done it before.

We already have a guy that's abstaining from sex with his ridiculously hot girlfriend?

Who?

Mccoy is every bit as elusive, accurate. probably twice as tough. Wonder if RW would have made it to the endzone on the keeper against dallas. We know he would have thrown a pic on the next play if he didnt.

As I've said before, I can easily see Snyder gassing up the jet and bringing a Brinks truck to Russ' house in the offseason if they don't reach a deal. My only issue is that I've read he wants to be the highest paid QB in the league and he's not that good for that price

And now in a world with no money involved, SEA calls today and offers them straight up? I'm all in.

Russ actually has knees and can avoid unnecessary contact. For that reason, I'd want him

When is the last time Snyder gassed up Redskins One with a Brinks truck attached to it?  Haynesworth.Years ago. I don't doubt he'd like to, but I think at this point, Scot would get out his "switch" and spank Snyder if he even suggest that.

I'd prefer to be built on the QB. Of course you need to have Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.

Well, I'd agree, except that I think the last few SB champs (with the exception of last year's Pats) have been built on defense and the running game. (Giants, Seahawks, Ravens, etc). I think the Pats, Packers, and Saints are the exception.

Please no, no offense to the guy but its different surviving in Washington than surviving in Washington....

I don't think he'd make it here, once he started talking about what God told him.

I think the guy's over-rated, and I don't think he'd make any difference here. No thanks on the trade.

Right

But the part about Colt McCoy...you were serious or no?

Please say no

Completely serious. RW only has him on speed by a slight margin. Same w/ arm strength. Mccoy is every bit as elusive in and out of the pocket. Just as capable of high percentage of completions in a game. Will make it to the endzone on a keeper, and he would damn sure be smart enough to audible out of a pass on the goal line and let his all pro RB clean up in a SB.

Please consult a doctor immediately.

Just go lay up on their table and say "fix me, something's wrong"

I totally agree with what you are saying. My point was we are more than a QB away from being a consistent PO team. We have several other significant holes. But the cupboard is not bare either. I like a lot of our young guys and really liked the FAs we signed.

I can see us starting to gel as a team at the end of season to the point we can see exactly what our needs are.

Yeah I just think you might be underrating the importance of good QB play a bit. If Rogers was to go to the Titans or Raiders they'd become instant contenders too imo. He's just that good. As long as RG3 keeps stinking the place up we haven't a prayer of getting 6+ wins. If he improves then I definitely believe we have the pieces around him to be competitive in our division.

We have gone this far with RG III, plus the Skins picked up his 5th year option. Plus what team would trade for RG IIi in the first place?

I mean RGIII had his moment 2012, but we are still waiting for  RG III to show up and perform , Why would  Seattle make a trade, on   2 quarterbacks RGIII/Cousins that are iffy. I hope , we as Skin fans are pleasantly surprised by the QB play this season. Plus the Skins are in the Scot mantra build with the draft and build from with in the organisation.

That was really my point, that you and I value the QB differently. Please don't misunderstand me, QB is critical. However, I go back to 2012. Robert by all measures was playing extremely well. He led the league or close to the lead in many significant categories. Also, we had a great running game with AM leading the way.

Yet through 9 games we were 3-6. The Def allowed 27.6 pts/gm those 9 gms. The Off scored 25.1. During the 7 gm win streak that changed to 19.8 pts/gm or a 7.8 pts/gm diff. The Off went up to 28.7 pts/gm. or a 3.6 pts/gm increase. **NOTE: I removed the Cleveland gm since Cousins was the QB. The numbers are a little diff when you add that back but still fairly close.

Those 6 gms Robert was in, and even the one Cousins played, the Def is what was different than the first 9 gms. Def gives up 8 pts/gm less and you will win ball games!

My point is, yes Robert playting well put us in postion, but while the D stunk we still lost. When they played even just average we won. Look at the last 2 yrs - The D has given up almost 30 pts a gm!! Has the QB play been poor? At times yes. But that's not the only hole. Had the D just been average! we could been close to .500, even with the QB play.

Edit: perhaps that horseshoe fell out during the SB..if so, nah

Or during the playoffs in general.

I don't think we are close to being great but I do think a truly elite QB like Rodgers or Luck would make us a contender.

However, I don't think Russ fits that bill

Agreed 100%. I don't think we're a QB away, unless it's a top 10 QB. Wilson is not that, IMO.

I'm not sure why anyone would trade one quarterback for two quarterbacks.

Nah. Wilson is a good QB but he isn't elite and he apparently wants to be paid like he's one of the the top 2 QBs in the NFL. He has a great run game, a top notch line, and a ridiculous defense to help him win games. He isn't asked to carry his team; he is mostly asked to make the occasional good play while limiting mistakes and turnovers. I don't think he's be nearly the QB here that he is in Seattle. He basically landed in the ideal place for him with the system and supporting cast they have.
