Kilmer17
US U23s play forst game of Olympic Qualifying tomorrow night vs Canada. 8 PM on NBC Deportes. Then Friday night against Cuba on Telemundo. And then the 6th vs Panama. No American broadcast unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing the youngsters at centerback- Matt Miazga and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Miazga is 20 and Carter-Vickers is only 17! Top 2 teams in each group advance to semi finals. Winners of semifinals go to the Olympics. Losers playoff and the winner of that game, has to then play off with Colombia who finished 2nd in the COMNEBOL youth football championship. Kilmer17
US wins 3-1. Jordan Morris scored twice. His first goal came at the 35 second mark of the match. Before Canada even touched the ball. The US dominated. Kind of a yawner actually. They play Cuba tomorrow night.
Kilmer17
US beat Cuba 6-1 on Saturday and it wasn't even that close. They have clinched a spot in the semifinals as the top seed from group A (barring a 7 goal differential tomorrow night). They will play the loser of Mexico v Honduras (or Honduras if they tie) on Saturday at 3. The Varsity squad play Mexico on Saturday at 930 on FoxSports1. The 23 man roster- GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)DEFENDERS (9): Ventura Alvarado (Club America), DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City)MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Danny Williams (Reading), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland), Graham Zusi (Sporting KC)FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy) I expect to see a veteran lineup. But I have no idea what it will look like. Other than Demspey, Bradley and Altidore.
Kilmer17
US U23 team plays Honduras on Saturday afternoon. The winner qualifies for the Olympics , and a spot in the tournament championship game against the Mex/Can winner. The loser plays the loser of the other game, and the winner of that game then plays Colombia for the Olympics. Whew. So 2 US games Saturday. MisterPinstripe
Yeah going to be a crazy day. I swear if we lose to Mexico in the Concacaf playoff... Massive choke job.
ixcuincle
The podcasts (Men in Blazers / SI Planet Futbol) say that CONCACAF playoff and confederations cup aren't that important but I don't know. Is today's game a must win? No. Will Jurgen be fired if they lose? Probably not. But they should probably win because A) It's Mexico and You need to show that you can win games that hold significance somewhat, whether the CONCACAF games are important or not, this is probably a game they should win. Dos a cero.
Kilmer17
It's important for many reasons. 1- it's Mexico 2- confederate cup is a great warm up tournament against A sides 3- eff Mexico. Dos a cero! But really, the earlier US v Honduras game for a spot in the Olynpics is probably more important in the long run
MisterPinstripe
Yeah I would look at tonight's game as very important. A Confederations cup berth is important, its a good tournament and a good measuring stick. This is a wualificatiln game for a tournament, not just to see who wins the Concacaf Cup. And it's against Mexico so, must win.

Hooper
I was supposed to go to the game today, but it didn't work out. Also, it's 1000 degrees here in Sherman Oaks -- Pasadena must be 1050.

Popeman38
I was really hoping for dos a cero again. But I'll take 2-1 or even better, 3-1.

jobaga
The US has morphed into a back 6. They have had very little possession this half. If they keep this up, they will lose

jobaga
Dempsey has been invisible tonight yet they keep trying to force it to him and Altidore and giving up possession in the process.
daveakl
This is how everyone played Mexico in the gold cup. 20 min to get a goal Subs need to come in asap
Long n Left
Kinda over Jozy ...and Dempsey, and Wondo. Need to train some young strikers. Johansson was showing well, need to bring more youngsters like him along so I can stop pulling my hair out watching Jozy give the ball away...again....and again. jobaga
They need to sit one of Dempsey and Altidore. Neither are winning any of the balls over the top and neither are threatening the Mexico defense. I wouldn't mind bringing in another midfielder to try and get some more possession...

Kilmer17
20 minutes from the worst day in US soccer history. Shame on Klinsman I've always been a supporter of JK , but I don't know what keeping him around after this stretch does to improve the team Wondo again ?
