inmate running the asylum
This is the guy we wanted to trade for earlier this year. The guy had a falling out with the coach but was having a good year with 4 sacks so far. I think this season is shot now, but I think we should sign him if we can, looking more towards next season. We might have two pretty good DT's in 2004 then, if we sign him and resign Darrell Russell. Of course, we don't have a lot of cap space at the moment, and some team like the Raiders or Vikings may go after him. Saints waive DT Grady Jackson November 3, 2003 - METAIRIE, Louisiana (Ticker) Less than a week after suspending Grady Jackson, the New Orleans Saints on Monday waived the veteran defensive tackle. The Saints suspended Jackson last Tuesday for conduct detrimental to the team. The club did not disclose the incident that led to Jackson's suspension. One of the Saints' best run-stoppers, the 6-2, 330-pound Jackson has collected 20 tackles and was second on the team with four sacks in seven games this season. Jackson, 30, spent his first five years with the Oakland Raiders before signing with the Saints as a free agent in 2002. Without Jackson, the Saints (4-5) posted a 17-14 victory at Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay on Sunday.
NoCalMike
Sign him for the vet minimum. hey it can't hurt. Russell has barely been with the team a week and he was already the best D-lineman we had.
Eagles_Legendz
Eagles are thin as can be at DT after Hollis Thomas tearing his biceps. I'd love for them to go after him. We definetly have the cap space. However, if he is signed, we may lose the heralded "Cap Bowl", where we are currently fighting against Arizona to remain the team furthest under the cap this season. At least we've won some type of "bowl" before!
Hitman56
Conduct detrimental to the team? Another head case is the last thin we need on our D-line. Upshaw and Smith (selfish 1 and 2) and Daryl the time-bomb Russell are just about enough for me.
inmate running the asylum
Conduct detrimental to the team, can be something as little as being late 15 minutes to a team meeting several times. Its hard to say what it was, but he was guilty of that in the past. He also did not participate in offseason workouts I know, when he got overweight and the Saints HC was pissed about that earlier in the year. But the guy can obviously play even when he is overweight.
bubba9497
He and Haslett clashed all season. Haslett has run off a ton of good player because of personality conflicts.

inmate running the asylum
I would sign Grady Jackson and cut Bernard Holsey. Holsey is a journeyman at best and both times teams have rushed for 200+ yards against us -- Holsey was starting. Chase and Dalton and Russell haven't played enough to judge yet, so hang onto them. Haley is o.k. as a backup, especially when he is healthy.
GSF
Holy cow is this for real? Sign him NOW! Jackson's been playing very well this year.
Skins26
I'd like for us to sign him if the price was right. We didnt really stop the run last week.
SouthLink02
If your looking for a total cancer, sign him. He is good but his attitude is incredibly poor and he loves to take breaks or leave meetings without telling anyone.
TLusby
Cut some other guys and get him Danny boy!
inmate running the asylum
Grady Jackson may be undisciplined, but he can definitely play. Maybe what we need on this team -- especially the defense -- is some more nasties, and less choir boys. Hey, even Bulldog agrees with me on this.
Storm
we re like the Raiders of the east. we pick up all the head cases othere teams discard. But this team isnt doing well with normal players, why not a couple of head cases...cant hurt.
Prosperity
nope it certainly cant. worked for the raiders it can work for us too.
Da_Truth
Forget that. What we need to sign is a coaching staff!!

Put Hosley on IR since he has a broken hand anyway.
sjinhan
maybe our FO will cut Dalton then try to sign Jackson... then lose out on Jackson to some other team... then only to agree to pay Dalton double his orginal salery to have him come back to us

NoCalMike
Sign him just for the rest of the year at least. I mean come on, there is ALREADY no discipline on this team, so how is it going to hurt anymore?
wildbill
What good does signing him at this point do? It doesn't matter if we can't move the ball.
inmate running the asylum
Signing him means we have less rebuilding to do in 2004.
wildbill
That's my point. Do you honestly think we'll be able to move the ball in 2004.
