NoCalMike
Lavar Arrington just dropped this bombshell in his interview on 980. He said the offense practices against the reseves on defense and that the RBs don't practice blitz pickups in practice. Also Spurrier doesn't sit in on the defense's film sessions........ AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH..........No wonder why the offense look inept against a defense IN A GAME.......
jbooma
And why are OT's and DE's look like crap. If you don't practice against each other how are you going to be good????
GB81
Pretty sure every offense in the NFL practices against reserves. The blitz pick-up thing is interesting.

Well according to Doc that wasn't the case when he played, I thought he was going to have a stroke when Lavar said that. He coud not believe it. Luca Brasi
Originally posted by GGB81 Pretty sure every offense in the NFL practices against reserves. The blitz pick-up thing is interesting. Since when? The Redskins have always practiced 1st string against 1st string. Unless that changed last year.
GB81
I guess I just assumed that was the case because it is what I saw at camp this year...
Luca Brasi
There's always talk about how Samuels benefits from going up against Bruce Smith and vice versa. Champ vs Coles, etc. Of course this was during camp and I haven't heard much since. Guys, if this is true, and it appears it is, then this coaching staff has got to go. Spurrier, Helton, Jackson= the axe. Forget the offensive schemes, forget the awe shucks attitude; this is a team that is fully aware that the coaching staff is full of sh*t. The worst part of this is that Snyder's hands are tied. If he fires Spurrier, it suddenly becomes 5 coaches in 4 years and who's going to want to come here after that. Marty came here, so a coach would come because of the $$
BD
It's typical for 1st string not to practice against FULL first string (i.e., I'm sure Bruce Smith never practices, Trotter and Smoot would probably sit out regularly with injury), but many teams practice against MOSTLY first string guys. Imagine the difference for Samuels going up against some waiver wire gentleman and going up against Upshaw.
NoCalMike
Dennis Green sounds good to me. I like what he has to say about the Skins on ESPN, as far as what he sees in the team etc......

You know, I spent a fair amount of time last night defending Spurrier and his system. I still don't think the system appears to be the problem, but maybe Spurrier really isn't cut out for NFL coaching. It's just amazing that the first teams don't practice against one another; they didn't do it, evidently, in training camp and do not in regular practice. Doc said his Redskins teams ALWAYS practiced regularly "number one against number one".
Jimbo
Just give me a guy that is willing to talk Danny into drafting guys who can get to the QB.
NoCalMike
Here is how I see it, Spurrier would make a good offensive coordinator as long as there was a head coach above his jurisdiction to keep him in check. Or to step in and make small changes when needed.
