@DCGoldPants
Has anybody been watching this show? HBO 9pm, about this Carnivàle in the 1930's with the underlying story of Good vs. Evil. I just think its such a mind **** and soooo kickass. Anybody?
Tarhog
A friend at work was raving about it. I tried to check it out but I had a hard time following the plot...couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be horror, a drama, black comedy, or what? Maybe I'll give it another shot if you say its worth it?

@DCGoldPants
yeah, you need to start from the....well....start. Its got this Twin Peaks thing where you need to know what happened because they aren't going to rehash it all the time. just realize this....Ben...can heal and bring things back to life....but it means that something else needs to die. Brother Justin can kill people and control people with his thoughts. Their dreams overlap............eventually they'll have to meet. Then there are a bunch of other storylines that really headline each episode with the Ben/Justin thing always there.
gbear
I'm liking this show. It kind of reminds me of a Stephen King novel. I don't mean one of the pure horror, but somehting more along the lines of the Green Mile. I'm also really liking HBO on demand so I can catch a few weeks of the show at a time. So far, I've seen all but this weeks. I probably won't gt to see it till this weekend, but I am definitely looking forward to it.
phishhead
Anyone know what the deal with management is?
@DCGoldPants
Management to my best guess is along the lines of "God" He told Samson to give Ben a job with them.....knowing his powers and knowing he needs guidance....thereby sending Lodz to help him through it. OrangeSkin
I've been watching Skin. It's bloody awesome. Haven't seen Carnivale, but it kind of freaks me out.
skinsfanjoe
I don't think management is along the lines of God. I think it's more along the lines of the devil. I can't quite figure our Brother Justin, is he good, evil, schizo? They leave you hanging every week, just like those soaps that women enjoy so much. NavyDave
normally I watch it on sunday but after the game I just didnt have any interest in tv.
@DCGoldPants
The Devil? I don't know. Mgmt made that Trailer appear for Ben to find the picture of his mother and Scudder. He is the one who gave the job which Lodz used to have, to Samson. I think there will be a showdown between Justin and Ben. Good v Evil.....and right now Justin is far more prepared. Meanwhile, Mgmt is telling Lodz to guide Ben....by the way, I think Lodz will turn out evil.....and is the father of Justin and Irene.
Dexter's Better
What was up with the story of the Russian orphans? That was WIERD. I see the underlying themes of Good vs. Evil and the Religious overtones - but whats with the Palm Reader Mom? There is so much symbolism its almost to much to take in... Here is a quick list of the "okay.. this is weird".. Babylon City. Apolloniena & Sofia (Daughter) Lodz who likes the bearded lady. "Management" - is definately suppose to be God. I think -- due to Clayton doubting managments existence. -- The important of "Gabriel's" wing (arm) getting broken and healed by Ben. (Gabriel being the name of an Arch Angel)

@DCGoldPants
ok, let me try to tackle this. The Orphans are Justin and his Sister when they are younger. They are hiding from their Russian father who is very Evil. I'm thinking that Lodz is the father. He gave up eyesight for a piece of the Power that Ben has....deal with the Devil type of thing. That's why Justin is evil and has power also. Not sure why his Sister doesn't. Now on to Sofie's Mom. I think she and Ben have the same Father........ Scudder. I think Scudder has/had mad amounts of power and when he knocked up Apollonia, he body couldn't take the power that was growing inside of her.....thus knocking her into her current waking coma state. Mgmt has to be some God-like being....even if its a Ying-Yang type where he's trying to balance everything out.
skinsfanjoe
I thought Ben's dad was the guy that killed all the miners in babylon? I'm confused.
@DCGoldPants
I'm not sure. Here is what I know about Scudder.....if he's really Ben's Dad. He was a healer also, he healed Ruthie from a snake bite.....then Ben saw him in the mine and that dead body down there. We didn't see him kill the guy, did we?
