Lavarleap56
Dan Snyder is not going to fire Spurrier this year or next year. I admit it does look pretty bad with reports begining to come out that vinny is in dans ear to kick Spurrier out the door. Put all the football aside and the reason spurrier will stay is because of money . Spurrier has been so open about the fact that he will leave after three years if the ship is not turned around ,why would dan fire him now and have to pay him the remainder of the 25 million dollar contract to let him go when he will leave on his own and dan gets some of his money back. The road Dan takes i think is to keep Spurrier on as the head coach and surround him with the best assistants he can get to come to washington. Spurrier does have to agree with this due to him haveing complete control over his staff ,however if Sonny Jurgenson was right and Spurrier was the one who asked dan to bring in the consultants then i dont think he will object to some new assistants. Snyder will appear patient and true to his word which would save some face around the league so he wouldnt be black balled by veteran NFL coaches around the leauge as well as save him some money. From the dan perspective he probably would have just implanted the next head coach of the washington redskins disquised as a assistant if Spurrier should fail, that way the next coach will be familiar with the team and the systems when and if he takes over. RAC
That may be true now, but if we were to lose another 3-4 games in a row do you think that Snyder will stick to that plan?
Lavarleap56
I think he has no choice at this point . Its a double edged sword i guess , How many times can you change coaches and still have the same results???? The only thing that has stayed the same is the core players on this team . If Dan Fires Spurrier now No one will want to come here to coach this team and i thik Dan knows that. He has to appear to be dueing everything he can to give Spurrier the tools to be a winner and if it doesnt work after the third year then Spurrier walks on his own. The negative press has turned after the game from Snyder being impulsive and blah, blah, to Spurrier not being up to par at the nfl level. Hes going to ride it out with Spurrier at this point and give him the rope to hang himself.
orlskinsfan
fire helton...that should help fix a lot of the offensive problems....i am so tired of seeing patrick getting killed....he does hold on to the ball longer than he should but these guys have to try to stick to thier blocks longer than 3 seconds.. JeffSchmeff
I think the design of the Fun N Gun is flawed. Do you notice how these teams put up fake fronts and cause Ramsey to audible, thus getting us in a bad play? Also, when you rush more players than we have to block, I guess I read Ramsey has no hot read to dump the ball to. Ever notice that when we are attacking and not reacting we're able to move the ball right down the field?
@DCGoldPants
after listening to Cerrato on DC101 this morning. I think Spurrier is safe through 2004 to be honest. I know its not from the mouth of the "Dan", but I think Snyder is convinced that he wants to keep this team, coaches and system in place for 3 to 5 years. gstahl
Agreed, puke. So I guess I will cancel my Sunday ticket for a couple of years and tune back in to see John Smith as QB (because Ramsey will be destroyed by injury). Damn, even under norv and marty it seemed like we were trying (from the coaching stand point) to win a game.

TC4
I said this in another thread and now I will say it again I can think of about 25 million reasons why Synder won't fire Spurrier. Remember what happened with Marty? He wouldn't accept the changes that Synder wanted to impose so he got the boot. But because Snyder fired Marty after just one season, but because he did that, he had to pay out the rest of the contract of 4 years, $10 millon. So he had to pay out the full $10 million for a single season. If Snyder fires Spurrier, he wil have to pay out 25 million for just 2 seasons. I say fire Vinny Cerrato and hire a REAL G--DAMN GM!!!! Awesome
Not that I like the guy, but Vinny is not the problem. The problem is that we have a college coaching staff. Give Spurrier some offensive assistants who have been in the NFL for some time, give him two years to grow accustomed to the league, and maybe this thing will get better. Another note, it's getting harder and harder to hate the Cowboys as much as I have in the past with Parcells as their coach. How could you not respect that man? Jimbo
Parcells turned down Snyder a couple years ago yet agreed to coach for Jerry Jones. THAT'S a good reason to not respect him. The fact that he coached the Giants AND Dallass is a perfect reason to HATE him.

sonsofwashington
I think a coach would want to come here for these reasons: 1. $$$$$ talks bullchit walks 2. We have good players, at this point I think they will listen to anyone who gets them a W 3. The next coach will realize that Spurrier's exit was simply lack of production. This should be the case for any coach, player, even ceerleader in the NFL.

I don't think snyder will like it, so I expect spurrier to hang around for another year.
