Gruden Is Killing The Post Game Interview

Two words for you my friend: Swinging Gate

My God, how the heck did I end up as the guy arguing for Zorn, lol? Leave it to ES to find one little thing in a post making a much more legitimate, over-arching point and beat that part to death! :P

I really, really don't care for the guy much. Never said he'd be a good or great coach. Just that he'd do a lot better with a competent GM. Can we move on now or are we going to just keep quoting posts of mine so we can bash Zorn as if some point is being refuted, lol?

Let's say I'm wrong though and he would've been awful no matter how good the personnel was. Definitely feasible. Who brought him in? Who made him Head Coach? The point still friggin remains... we'll continue to be a losing franchise until our Front Office is one of the best in the league and is structured as the best in the league are structured. Yeesh.

Yeah, and if we had gone into the half leading 10-7 we would have ended the game with more points than the Vikes. Sure, the D should have stopped them then, but it was all unnecessary. I hated all the first downs our D was giving the Vikes on 3rd and long in the second half, but in the end it wouldn't have mattered had we just ran out the clock before the half.

Blame the D all you want. I just wanted to win the game... and THIS would have won the game.

As I said .. the refs blew that one. It was not an interception. The guy was CLEARLY out of bounds. And yet, later in the second half Amerson managed to intercept a ball in which he was even MORE clearly IN bounds and they called it incomplete.  And yet .. the offense scored 26 points which IF the defense had done their damn jobs would have been enough to win.

I will play the devils advocate here: Allen tells Gruden I got you covered on the D coach. Gruden just bites his tongue. Thinks: I just got a head coaching job and I will play with their rules for now....Tells himself in the end you will see how has been Hazbeen really is.

It really doesn't matter how the masterplan of keeping Haslett went. Everybody knows Haslett has almost 20 years worth of crap defenses and 4 of those are with this team. Allen wanted him, and maybe Gruden did too. Either way somebody, or multiple somebodies, running everything important for the Redskins proudly showed us their "Moron" badge.

I feel bad for Griffin. He's not going to succeed here. He's under a microscope with every move he makes and every word he says. In myopinion? Being black is a big reason why.

Oh please, being black has nothing to do with it. Redskin fans are starved for a winner. It's all about the W's and L's. He'd be the toast of the town if we were winning.

Gruden was awesome in that presser. Was clearly pissed, clearly hates losing

The problem is that our owner hates this type of attitude in a coach.

Any coach that tries to see how long the leash is will eventually see the ax fall. Stray from the Snyder script and you are ****ed.

I liked seeing Gruden upset.  I think he feels the heat more than the players do.

He needs to bring in more players next season who are hungry to win and will follow him.

Some of these players are too comfortable.  He also has to fix a ton of problems.  Glad

he got a five year contract.  I bet he wishes he had Chucky's job right now.

Gruden's job is safe. No way would Snyder fire him after just one season. Imagine the firestorm that would cause in the media with them talking about Snyder's meddling and impatience.

Grunden isn't going anywhere after this season, IMHO, unless he wants to leave. Which he won't.

Not to be a jerk, but who cares if he's mad? Every coach that continually gets embarrassed gets mad.

What's he going to do about it? Keep grinding out hard fought L's more than likely.

What can he do about it this season? This is only his 1st season and he has already brought in some very good players who are making an impact. Remember he inherited a 3-13 team, lost his starting QB the beginning of the 2nd game but still found ways to beat a hot Cowboys team in Texas. I can't wait to see this team 2 years from now after he has the time to straiten this team out and get rid of the dead weight here. I believe we are going to have a pretty darn good team again in Washington.

I'm still upset we gave up 3 70+ yard drives where we should have won by at least 20. What was the difference in a week with the defense? RG3 had a good game coming back off a 7 week layoff. Alf had two scores, and Jackson had another 100 yard game. He should fire him today, as this is inexcusable play call on the defense. Offense did it's job yesterday. 26 points is enough to win on the road.

I think Haslett is gone after this season

He needs to go, and let Raheem finish up the season, until Phillips or ANY competent DC is available.

HELL NO!!! Our DB's are now and have been the most underperforming unit in our defense for years. The guy who deserves a shot is Olivadotti.  The LB's have been solid all along and many people think he's the most creative and most likely to be a solid DC.  Football is in his blood with his Dad, Tom Olivadotti, being a respected DC for many years.

Not all sacks are on the O-line.  RG III seems to take a lot more of those than the other 2 QB's did with pretty much the same line (except Compton at RT for Polumbus).  Gruden called him out on that.  Watch the NFL 22 and you'll see that Robert does miss open players and usually it's when they're over the middle.  He needs to learn how to slide to a passing lane a'la Drew Brees.

I like Gruden. He's been far from perfect this season, same as the rest of the team, but I like his fire. He doesn't sugar coat anything or play favorites. If you mess up he will call you out. And he does the same to himself. Just gotta build a solid team around the pieces we have now and I think he'll be fine here

I agree. I think Haz is gone and Gruden really starts to put his thumbprint on this team in the off season. He knows he is the man and it is ultimately up to him to get it done. He assumes the responsibility as a HC and that is what this team needs. Discipline and direction (as well as a better OL and DC). We need some more pieces to compete. You can't win football games when the march down the field as many times as they did yesterday. Defense wins football games and that is why we lost yesterday.

EDIT: AND OL! G** D**N OL yesterday made me puke. Sack city. Weak.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in here, but several local reporters, including for the Post, came and defended us on the BSPN piece concerning Griffin. Not sure if this changes our overall relationship, but they totally could have pilled on and co-signed, but they didn't and stood up for us instead.

Oh, I do think he will get a couple more seasons but I worry that the minute Gruden's footprint on this team gets too big that Snyder will meddle.   I really hope that Gruden is allowed to do his thing...hopefully Danny has learned but I still worry.

I grew up loving the guy, but now I can't stand him.  I, too, believe this team to be dysfunctional, but Wilboner's criticisms aren't coming from a place of constructiveness.  He just flat out hates us.  Of course, he would never dare criticize the Bears in the same manner.

Diana Russini was busting Mike Freeman's balls on Twitter after the game. Freeman is a hack from Bleacher Report.

Also strange that you don't see anything from Fox Sports, SI, CBS Sports, etc. Just the report from ESPN. I mean come on, if Jason Reid is defending the team, you know something is up.

Any coach with any kind of passion would have been pissed off after yesterday's game. Gruden seems to be a straight shooter which is refreshing. I hope he gets Haslett ran out of the building today. 5 years of piss poor defense! I would not have a job if i performed badly at my job for 1 month straight.

I realize Gruden is not the GM, but will the real GM please stand up and get this **** straightened out????
