Est.1974
Gruden is putting himself forward very well this season. I'd say he's entered this season entrusting powers with a number of people to lesson the burden on himself, but as time goes by he's going to put the trash out pretty quick and build his rep as a HC. Mr_ Skinshead
I think the notable part is the standing up and fighting back against this media horse **** that mysteriously pops up on gameday, constantly. The fact that the media in this town might as well be just another opponent on the Redskins schedule. Is the media in our division?
ToHailWithIt
Please update and/or summarize what was said! I totally missed it. As far as the game went he was of course asked about how rob did and he told the truth i.e. he had some good plays and bad ones (specifically a few bad throws and read option decisions). He was visibly disgusted with the defensive performance. I think he said "disgusting" or "disgusted" a half a dozen times. When asked about the RGIII report he went off. He called the claims of the report totally false. He called the reporter "amateur" and acknowledged that the media "loves to tear down Robert and loves to tear down this team"...It felt cathartic to be honest... TSO
The decision to keep Haslett on this offseason still boggles the mind. We won't be able to win consistently with our Oline and our Defense. It's really that simple. I really like Gruden, though. Might be one of the only things we have going for us right now. If we get better talent evaluators in and/or a GM whose strength is personnel (or the ones we have just simply do better)... I think Gruden is someone who can win in this league consistently. MumboSauce
I loved how he went after that report too! Took them to task on that one. Loved it! Will love it more when it translates into actual game wins though. I hope he continues to grow and learn as a head coach...want to see him succeed! s0crates
We still suck, but the fact is the team is getting better under his leadership. Still need work. I wasn't sold on Gruden, but I'm beginning to like the guy. Did anybody notice how he said his neck was hurting from the bus crash? It must have been pretty bad, I'm sure a bunch of guys felt stiff from it. They certainly looked stiff. We have the worst luck.

TD Riggo
That would be interesting. Name your "source" or GTFO. Man, would there be any reporters left to cover that team if that became the policy? Could we handle the fines? I don't flippin' care if there are NO media to cover the team. 99.9999% of what you hear/see/read is horse****. It's not worth listening to, and I don't. As to fines? I would hope that Snyder would gladly pay them to send a message to the media.
martytheman
One thing to be mad another, to fire Haslett and fix the problem Well at least the bye is here. zoony
Honestly who gives a ****? Coaching has never been the problem here on Washington ****ty talent on both sides of the ball with an ignorance of how to build a pro football team. SweetAlfred
Woman Reporter: "Do you think they were fatigued?" Coach Jay: "I don't know man.." All Gruden says in the conference is "gotta watch the tape" nothing mind blowin'

Fan since a Fetus
I really think we kept Haslett because #1 he was under contract. #2 - He has been a head coach in this league before and #3 - He was someone comfortable for Gruden to work with initially being on he is a new head coach. I really think the right decision will be made in the off season.
BleedBNG
Defense lost this game today. To some point... yes... but IMO, the one who REALLY lost this game for us is... Jay Gruden. Why? Seriously, with about a minute and 10 seconds to go in the half... what made him think we were going to move the ball in the air, down the field for a FG? Oh yeah, we were moving the ball with NO problems thru the first half. Note to Gruden: RUN THE BALL and use up the time to end the first half... 27 - 21 Skins. What are we... the Cowboys? Springfield
Honestly who gives a ****? Coaching has never been the problem here on Washington ****ty talent on both sides of the ball with an ignorance of how to build a pro football team. How does the coach getting mad change any of this? I'll bite. Leadership starts at the top. Let's assume for a second that the team is in a vacuum, Allen and Snyder have no impact on the team. Even so, we don't really know what impact they do actually have. What we do know is that Gruden is with these guys every day. So when the media attacks them, it eats at the players. When they lose close games because of costly mistakes of few then it eats at them. If the head coach is outwardly critical of all of the negatives, while coming off as thoughtful and in control then it's a positive. Then, these prima donna, slackers will start to buy in to the culture that Gruden is trying to establish. It doesn't happen overnight but if the coach exhibits responsibility and accountability then the player-leaders will. Then the less experienced players will. The talent might not be there but a team with the right morals and work ethic might surprise you. Now, back to a team that isn't in a vacuum that exists with Allen and Snyder at the helm. Gruden's outward criticism of the defense may also mean the beginning of the end for Haslett. It might mean that Gruden will get his say next time. If he takes charge then those around him will listen.

End2round2sanders
Gruden was awesome in that presser. Was clearly pissed, clearly hates losing and really not happy with Britt McHenry today (which is too bad for Brit having to be the front person on that report, she is a cool chick) Having worked in sports radio in San Diego at the same time as McHenry when she was with the Padres, from a professional standpoint I'm pretty sure Gruden wasn't directing it towards her, but at the same time I learned quickly she's not one of those cute female reporters you root for.. I'll leave it at that..

Offense did enough to put the Vikes away today and Hazmat (as we have seen him do every week for five years) just let the opposing offense march right back down the field, time after time. You can second-guess the offensive playcalling all you want, but they put points on the board. So did our defense. Except they put points on the board for the Vikes. DEFENSE lost this game today! TD Riggo
.. and WHY THE HELL wasn't Hatcher in the game, late?! If anything today would get Haz' fired, THAT should be enough.
