Fan since a Fetus
Yeah sorry. I meant my guy Spanos. Multitasking at work & autocorrect don't always work the way they should. Now that is a great suggestion, way better than that Spags nonsense The issues with the D are mental. So you are saying we should send our D coaches to an insane asylum? If so, I agree. TD Riggo
why do people blame Haslett? The team traded 3 #1s, a 2 and waisted a 4 on Cousins. Of course the defense is not going to be good. When you bet the farm on one player, the player has to be an absolute superstar for you to win. Otherwise, the trade makes you bad for many years to come. Here we go .. again. That ONE player pretty much, single-handedly (or single-leggedly) got us into the playoffs 2 years ago. So I think he's already proven his worth. If Haslett's defense can just keep the other team from scoring 21+ in every game, that would be a big help!
campbellcooleyconnection
This team can never ever turn the corner! After a 1-5 start a golden chance to get to 4-5... Of course not!!Starti g to really like Jay Gruden but his buddy needs to be drop kicked out of Redskins Park!

TD Riggo
The issues with the D are mental. Not knowing coverages, leaving assignments, etc. We have physically gifted players on D (except Clark. He is washed). They are just all dumb as a ****ing rock and their coaches (Morris' corny ass too) are just as stupid Good coaches correct that dumb ****. Exactly. After seeing Breeland step up, and Amerson showing promise as well, it is obvious that this D has enough talent. If only our coaches would put them in the proper place more than just one or two games per season ..!
skins island connection
Its currently 5:12 p.m. c.s.t., why haven't I seen news on Haslett being fired yet? what exactly are they waiting for? I heard Gruden in the presser saying he has to go and look at the game film to find what the problems are, when all he has to do is look to his right, at Haslett. It bears mentioning that years ago Haslett said he was really wanting a HC job in the NFL, and I bet when the Shannys were let go he had a chub, thinking he had a chance. Funny, right now Cleveland is 5-3 with Kyle, no name QB or players, yet is getting results; its not Kyle so much that I'm getting to, its how a coach/oc/dc can go to a team and turn things around; Haslett has only turned a once decent-to-good 4-3 defense and made it a laughing stock. NIKKI8
Just my opinion but I think everybody that is hoping for Rex Ryan to take over the defense next year are going to be disappointed. Ryan isn't going back to being a DC. When the Jets fire him there will be teams looking to hire him as head coach even if he has to do TV next year and wait for the following year. I think it will kind of be like when Andy Reid got fired. Owners/GM's of other teams will blame the Jets front office and like Reid maybe they will think the players got tired of hearing the same thing from Ryan and he would be great with a fresh start. I just don't think with his personality that he will go back to being a defensive coordinator. I would be great if it would happen but I doubt it very much. MustangSteve
The 4+-year experiment with the current defensive coordinator needs to end immediately. It has been an utter and complete failure and needs to end right now. Can those who attend the games at FedEx bring "Fire Haslett" signs? Can we flood Redskins Park with letters to Bruce Allen or Dan Snyder demanding his removal? Can we call into local sports shows and repeatedly express our anger at Jim Haslett's inability to pressure a rookie quarterback with no real offensive weapons? I worry that Haslett will be given yet another free pass at the end of the season to continue his single-handed destruction of this team. Admittedly, we don't make the decisions, but if we express in various outlets that we will not continue to support the team without a change at the defensive coordinator position, perhaps Mr. Snyder will get the point. Ideas anyone? I am all for this!!! The idiot must be thrown out of DC immediately, he has failed miserably and no need at all to keep him around. Its currently 5:12 p.m. c.s.t., why haven't I seen news on Haslett being fired yet? what exactly are they waiting for? I heard Gruden in the presser saying he has to go and look at the game film to find what the problems are, when all he has to do is look to his right, at Haslett. That is the fact! The same man responsible for last years debacle and the 3 years in a row before that. Get him out now!
War Paint
I agree. The Redskins were just outsmarted, outcoached, and outplayed by a pathetic team with a rookie QB. No pressure. No blitzes. Just as I expected from Jim Haslett after the Dallas game. Horrible defensive game called. Yep. I was telling a friend of mine, also a Skins fan, that today was the test. Our D usually does well against Dallas. I wanted to see if Haslett could shut down a rookie QB who can be rattled by pressure. Of course, Haslett fails. It's not surprising. It's been the same thing since he's been here.

Gibbs828791
We can assist by doing what we are supposed to do and cheer for the team. Let people who actually know about football make the decisions about this team. Yeaaa.....we tried that and 4 years later we have Azzhat still coaching....by the way when he gets fired here he is out of the NFL....kinda like when we hired him. When you bet the farm on one player, the player has to be an absolute superstar for you to win. Otherwise, the trade makes you bad for many years to come. Look at the D roster in Dallas. They were predicted to be the worst defense in NFL history. Their roster is horrible on paper. They're coached up and are playing much better than expected. Are they flawed? Yes. Does their running game help their D? Yes. But I've watched them and while they are flawed, they are very active and are usually in good spots to make plays. It shows that good coaching can get the best out of players. Haslett can't do that. Let's just say Haslett doesn't suck. Even if that's the case, it's been quite clear that our D needs a new voice to lead them.

WFC
Yeah sorry. I meant my guy Spanos. Multitasking at work & autocorrect don't always work the way they should. Forgive my ignorance on him but are you saying Spanos because of the job he did here or because of the job he's doing in Tennessee? Don't know much about him as far as being a coordinator, so could you help me understand why he is your first choice. I don't know what the best answer is as far as a coordinator, just for the record, so if someone's name comes up I always try to understand why. Voice_of_Reason
Does Wade Phillips call bingo games? No, but he attends almost all of the Redskins games because his son is the TE coach. Question that has to be running through his mind is, "Could I do better?" I'm sure his answer is yes. The next question is, "Would I really want to?" To that, it's unclear what the answer would be. For my money, I'd take Jim, or I'd take Rex Ryan when he's fired from the Jets. Dude can coach defense, even if this year the Jet's aren't doing well on D. He managed to get Sanchez to the AFC championship game twice with defense. He'd be an improvement over Haslett

50yrSKINSfan
Hi. In my opinion I think a experienced head coach, if he came here last year would know what assistants he would want before he came here. He would pick all his assistants soon as he was hired, as most of them would come with him from his old job. Gruden being a young 1st year coach was prob told to keep certain people as they may be in the last year of their contract as I assume the Shannahans would have been in also, and firing them would cost a lot of wasted money. I think Gruden figured he would use the year to access the remaining staff and players and it would also give him time to line up new assistants if he wanted to make changes. It is also a built in excuse. "Hey I did the best I could with your existing staff this 1st year". It is not easy to fire the whole defense staff today as there are many people involved in todays NFL coaching staffs plus your team is supposed to be picked to play the scheme the DC wanted. So you fire the DC and now you also have to get some new players. You may fire some great assistant without seeing 1st hand what he can do. I think Gruden will make changes after this year is up and Haslett will go.
redskins55
Gruden absolutely wont hire Rex Ryan!! Rex is to boisterous and is like his father. Once he's been a head coach there is no way he can go back to being just a coordinator. It will cause division just like Buddy did in Houston and Chicago!
