Skinsinparadise
Still think it makes more sense to let him start after the bye so he gets extended practice time. I mean this is a short work week after all... The season IMO now is mostly about helping RG3 find his groove, I'd give him as many games as he can play. I have faith that he will shine, heck even if it takes him a couple of games or so to get into a good rhythm but ends strong, or we going to care at the end of the season if he was a little rusty in the first couple of games he came back? Russell Wilson had some horrific games at the start of his 2nd season but came on strong as the season went on. RG3 is a young QB who needs reps to continue to develop
Voice_of_Reason
Looks like most sources are simply quoting NBCDiana. She better be right will look pretty bad if not Nothing from Schefter and others And this is the change from the norm exactly how? Only baseball players fail as much as she does without it affecting perception or employment.

dballer
Colt has been a 3rd string and a backup for a reason. He wasn't spectacular on Monday Night. He made some good throws but DJax bailed him out of a lot of under thrown balls.I'd honestly take it one further. I felt like he was average. I know, I know, the numbers! But take away the two passes to DJax he averaged 6 yards per attempt. Those 2 to DJax were both under thrown, luckily that dude is an alien and comes down with everything. His receivers bailed him out on bad throws over and over. If he had put a ball or two where it was supposed to be it wouldn't have been as close. Even the Reed throw where he directed him wasn't a great throw, just an unbelievable catch. Also, that Dallas D was supposed to be all time bad. In my opinion it still is, just hasn't gotten exposed enough due to the run game. Still bottom 10 on all categories. I don't want to diminish what Colt did because it was one of the gutsiest performances I have seen by a Redskin in a long time, but he isn't an NfL starter. respectgibbs
Due to a lack of other reports, Ima label this as BS Dianna throws out there until otherwise. No, this has nothing to do with health. Only excuses, how could we be so blind Go play in traffic son It's not. He's 100% healthy. The ONLY reason he wouldn't play is to CYA on Gruden's part, because god forbid the china doll gets hurt again or doesn't play well, people will crucify Gruden for saying he put in him too early. I swear, it's like some of these donks think RG3 shouldn't play until week 17. The same people who think he wasn't 100% healthy in week 1 last year. Sorry folks, but every time RG3 struggles doesn't mean he was hurt or "not ready". The only fan base that doesn't want their starting QB back. UNREAL!!!!! It's to protect Gruden. If RG3 comes out and struggles or gets hurt, media and (dumb) fans will crucify him.
wrecker
It’s quite simple, as an old fan this is an old story played out through the years as far back as 1972 (that’s as far back as I remember). The only difference is the names have changed. Redskins fans have always liked the backup QB: Sonny-Billy Joey T.- Jay Schroeder Jay Schroeder-Doug Williams Doug Williams-Mark Rypien Rypien- Humphries Rypien- Gannon Schuler-Frerott-Green Brad Johnson- Jeff George Matthews- Ramsey- Wuerfifel (My Favorite) Brunell- Campbell Grossman-Beck Forgive me if I forgot a few. The only difference is the names have changed. Redskins fans have always liked the backup QB We could have Brady or Manning and we be saying it’s time to bring (Insert Name Here) to get experience because they are getting old. The scary part of this list is whether you want to admit or not Robert has more talent than all them. He needs to play[/quote The babe?

redskins55
Did it ever occur to anyone that our TEAM has been playing good for several weeks now. The reason we lost close games is because Cousins was a turnover machine. So Colt came in against Tennessee and threw a quick screen to Garçon and our defense did the rest. Then McCoy came in vs Dallas and had a horrible first half , then ran a QB draw for a TD in the second half and our defense did the rest again! McCoy isn't the reason we won the last two games , our team is. Griffin is healthy . You have to insert him in the lineup now while the team is performing at a high level. It's a no brainier! ComManDersFan57
If he's 100% start him. He's the starter and the best option we have at QB by far. Who are we to say that it's too soon? How would we know? I certainly haven't examined his ankle or watched practice. He's got to come in some time and if the doctors, other players and coach say he's ready, then he's ready. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the field again. What better time than against an opponent that should help him gain some confidence.
Aireskoi
I think this is the "safest" game to bring him back in and I like the decision. ..... Hope everyone doesn't go crazy if he doesn't complete 85% of his passes and throw for 300 yards... This Vikings D is light years ahead of that cowboys D... And by that I mean they are a decent defense. I think many fans and media will underestimate the Vikings 4th ranked pass defense (that's still learning and growing) and expect RG3 to look like Colt did against the Cowgirls 15th ranked pass defense. The defense will be disrupting routes and timing. They may be in his face quite a bit and no one will be open initially at times. It could look bad, but I think Gruden will have the answers. it's going to take solid QB play for sure. I do think the offense is playing better, so he has that going for him. How much will patience will Gruden (and fans) have with Griffin if he starts making mental errors that hurt the team? The Vikings will test him. DarkLink
I'm glad RG3 is back. If he is healthy, you gotta put him on the field. I'm tired of evaluating back ups. I'm ready to evaluate Griffin. I really do think he is the future, but he has to protect himself better. I want to keep McCoy as backup next season tho, but I know he wants to start somewhere else. Cousins is done. We might need to find a solid back up QB next year.
ThomasRoane
Why do People think Colt should go if RG III is healthy? People are wild on here. It's like the Cousins people fled that ship and boarded a different one I don't like the idea because Zimmerman knows Jay's system well from going against him (checks, signals, tendencies) and the rest of the team is going to be on a short week with little to no full speed action in practice. Robert needs to practice game speed. Our O-line isn't great on a regular week. On a short week? Disaster! Look at the gnats game. Yeah, Kirk was horrible but he was also getting knocked around a lot too. I'd rather see Robert come back at home with a good two weeks of full speed practice and game planning. #BgMase76#
It's a no brainer. If RGIII if healthy he's the starter. Minnesota is a game we should win. No AP and a rookie QB. Get him in there. Shake that rust off and give him a launching point to improve from coming up on a bye week. Taking into consideration what the team spent to get the kid. Gotta exhaust every avenue to make sure if he isn't the one.

Please don't try to deflect credit away from him to try and defend decision to start RG3. When needed, he made plays. 25-30, 299 yds is pretty damn good, beat a 6-1 team in THEIR HOME. We all want RG3 back 100% and ready to play. RG3 needs to start, he needs time to develop. I am glad we have QBs (not just starter) who can play. That 15th ranking is one of those generous stats lie type of rankings. The Dallas pass D will not end up top 20 at the end of the year. I expect a little better performance than the Houston game. Like you said, the offense is playing better, but the Vikings are a legit defense. Fortunately they are not as legit on offense, so our defense should be able to help Griffin. Griffin can make every throw McCoy makes if his arm was broken. And as decision making goes...let's not forget McCoys career is like 1 td to 1 int ratio. So while Robert might not have a great game, I expect it to be better than what McCoy would do. Why I like then bringing him back this week, if he plays poorly you can say he was knocking the dust off, you have the bye to work on whatever he had trouble with, and get to bounce back with another winnable game. Rather than having the knock the dust off game against TB then come back against San Fran. Game reps are what he needs, not practice reps.

Yes, receivers helped him, but that is what they are paid to do. Why do fans feel the need to tear down one to build up the other? Colt played great on Monday and got the Redskins a very badly needed win. Can we leave it at that?
DogofWar1
If he's medically cleared, he's medically cleared. He's not going to get any cleareder than cleared. If you hold him once he's healthy, that says you don't trust him, and when that happens everything breaks down. Holding him back until after the bye week won't make him any healthier than 100%. Play him, let him shake off the rust, and then spend the bye week fixing any issues that were noticed in Minny.
