Source: RG3 to start in Week 9

I have seen Rodgers, Manning, Brady and Brees all miss a throw like that. Brady and Manning couldn't buy the time for someone to get open to make that throw now a days. Singling out one throw to say he is a bad QB is...well...you know what it is...

No, that's obviously not the only reason he's a bad QB & you know this.

Doesn't it seem like the O Line issues are really magnified when RG3 is on the field? He's got to get better there. The ball has to come out faster....

KC throws INTs like candy. RG3 takes sacks like crazy.

But sacks > ints so RG3 is our best option at this point. If our D was competent then we would be fine. The thing is that RG3 is eventually going to have to be great every week if we want to compete

And I'll flip the **** out if someone brings up colt

You'll flip out if someone brings up Colt? Why is that? What did RG3 accomplish today that makes you feel he's superior to even Colt McCoy? Let's be honest here.

You love gloating over a Redskins loss?  Look, RG played pretty well today.  Solid C+ work.  The defense was abysmal and I don't think any of us anticipated that.

I love that every year, this terrible franchise gets one win playing above their heads and all of a sudden people think we "should win" games.  There are no should wins for this team/franchise.  We are fortunate to win any game.  It sucks but the truth hurts.

The defense has sucked all season minus a rivalry game and a game vs. a fringe NFL team that everyone spanks.  It has sucked the last 5 years.

I am entitled to my optimism on Wednesday after a road win against a 6-1 Cowboys team.

Hard to believe a Capitals fan feels the need to pile on.  The Caps are the very definition of a terrible franchise.  Historically among the greatest underachievers and choke artists in all of professional sports.

A wizards/skins fan laying it on a Capitals fan. Say it ain't so!

The best argument for robert not starting was the end of the game, he was exhausted. You may not be able to practice on a bye weak but you can jog. He's not in game shape, which happens when you can't run because of a bad ankle.

Problem is I don't think the extra two weeks would've significantly helped that. There's a distinct difference between what you can do in practice/on your own and what it's like to actually play a game. Whether it was this week or two weeks from now, he was probably going to be a bit worn down by the end of the game.

Half our fanbase, including me, was making excuses for Cousins' bad throw to end the Eagles game. Give it a rest.

I gotta say, it's amazingly refreshing to see someone basically admitting they seemingly weren't too bothered by Cousin's end of the eagles game and are treating this the same way. I've already seen one guy who was making every excuse possible for Cousins in that game and screaming at people for saying otherwise declaring that Colt should've been our starter after that play because Griffin came up short.

While slightly a different situation (The defense, after having a bad day against the eagles [who was at least a better offense] actually had a solid stop and gave Cousins MUCH better field position to get a field goal) it was still a chance at the end of the game to go down field and make something happen and ultimately failed. That's a problem and a legitimate knock against both QB's, but I didn't let that single play color my opinion of Cousins entire day and I don't let Griffin's do that either.

The only reason I decided to say something is because you called out everyone who didn't want RGIII to start stupid.  Everyone was entitled to that opinion too.

Either way, it is just like the Redskins to lose to other terrible teams so the point is, after 21 years of being a garbage franchise, how can people seriously still be this gullible.  Even ignoring history, that big win got us to what, 3-5 and we barely beat the Titans.  This game was in no way a "should win", it was a "could win".  And that's how it is every week when your franchise is this bad.

I'm sticking to my guns in saying that Colt should have started. Not that we would have won (we wouldn't have, not with the defense playing that poorly), but because a couple of weeks without the media bull**** and second-guessing would have been nice.

Now the ever-sensitive RG3 gets to stew on that last drive and indulge in negative social media comments (come on, we all know he does it) with no chance for redemption for two weeks.

He isn't healthy, took a lot of hits in this game.  I know our offensive line is putrid, but I will say RG3 takes more hits than the other two QB's that started for us behind center.  I don't know if that is game planning or it's on RG3, but the line looks better when he isn't in there.

Second half he held the ball too long - holding the ball behind our line is going to get you hit. Dont know if he had receivers open but if there is one thing Gruden needs to fix with RGIII its getting the ball out on time and in rhythm more consistently.

Overall I thought RGIII played well first half apart from that really bad throw for the pick at the end. That just came out of his hand wrong - threw a duck and threw it inside on an out breaking route - cant have that. Second half he was more inconsistent, held the ball at times and just seemed out of synch. He still made some really nice throws and we scored more points in the second half but I thought he played worse.

He has to make that last throw to Garcon as well, just has to.

There were things he did yesterday which support a case for and against him. Rest of this season is about finding out how he develops, developing other young players and evaluating who should be here next season.

Although I think he should have started the Tampa game, it was good to see Griffin out there. There were a lot of positives as he really helps Morris in the running game. He did make several nice passes and Garcon let him down on the long one. But he's still so up and down as a passer. Whenever he gets people in his face, he tries to put the cape on and run around. Can he read a blitz? Read it, adjust your protection and know that ball has to come out quickly. Set your feet too. He just isn't natural doing this. Overall, this is who I suspect we're going to get as a QB. He's never going to be a smooth polished pocket guy, but will make things happen out there. Then there's the concern for injury as it seems it's just a matter of time with him.

Alexa, him reading the blitz and the line actually "blocking" the blitz, is two totally different stories. Ask Tony Romo! The Vikings did to us what we did to Dallas. Did you see Roy Helu and Chris Chester completely whiff on blocking Greenway? He got a free run at the QB and was there in like 3 sec! Did you see how many times Chris Chester was bull rushed up the middle? I suspect soon he will be benched too. (Chris Chester) that is.

Your right the inside of our line is not good - we have to replace both guards for next season. But given that the QB just cant hold the ball, especially in pistol on a one step drop. Ball has to come out on time.

You're right MartinC. I agree, he has to let it go.

Griffin beat Trent for sack like Trent was stuck in quicksand.

Never seen Trent get beat like that

He's looking a bit heavy on his feet, no bounce.  If that makes sense.  I'm hoping he's carrying an injury that's making him put his heels down rather than being up on his toes.

well uh yeh he dislocated his knee cap a couple of weeks ago...Just because he said it was nothing doesn't mean it was.

Dude is a warrior. Plays injured and never says anything about it. He was mostly good. Just used to him being fort knox over there.

Somebody must know something I don't about Laovao, because he was RG before and I assumed he'd be RG here.  Why he's LG, I'm not really sure.

My suspicion is that he's our best guard, while Chester (sad as it is) is our 2nd best, and until we have someone who can replace Chester, we can't slide Laovao over.

But srsly, the fact that we haven't given Chester a pink slip yet is truly baffling.

At this point you just have to try someone else. It wont get worse than it already is. TyPo was the #1 RT, until he wasn't.
