redskinpigskin
The reasons all make sense as to why he pulled Colt away. But, it still makes him and the organization look stupid. Using the "no means no" line in this situation is totally inappropriate considering the whole domestic violence issue the league is facing. Why didn't he just say, we will catch you after??? Yeah man, when you are THE PR GUY, you have to ALWAYS be aware of how you're relating to the public. Right or wrong, he was an ass about it and deserves the criticism. If this were an isolated incident, then maybe a pass, but it's not.

This is the point that many seem to be missing. It doesn't matter if the reporter was out of line - you're the PR guy, don't act like a petulant child...especially in front of a national audience...when you are representing an organization that is run by a petulant child...duh! BG
Arguments are easy no matter what the hypothetical assumption may be. Bottom line is this organization is not accustomed to the spotlight let alone Colt McCoy in his first big prime time win in the NFL. Dude definitely had a dear-in-the-headlights mentality after the win. You could tell he as emotional. Hell, any of us would be freaking out. Pretty sure our PR staff was freaking too. Overprotective but also trying to accommodate and bring on any good press. It backfired. Maybe one day we'll be used to these scenarios. Oh and doesn't a dude deserve at least two, three minutes of prep time for an interview with all four of the MNF crew? Then to be fondled by Ray Lewis? Guess there wasn't enough time cuz colt was getting mugged by ESPN deportes
SiestaBob
This seems like any excuse to complain about our FO/Management. The reporter didn't schedule an interview prior to the game and just tried to latch onto Colt. Do we really want him out there accommodating any reporter that shows up with a microphone instead of heading back to the lockerroom with his team? The reporter was out of line and should be dealt with. I'm sure it was awkward for Colt but I doubt his feelings were hurt that Tony had to physically pull him away from the reporter. Colt was scheduled to be at the podium for national TV and this reporter was holding him up from the scheduled after game TV questions.

hail2skins
You can sort of understand people getting hot under the collar in the moment but there have been other occasions where Wyllie comes across as petulant and hot-headed. I loved last year when he threatened to sue WJFK over the Larry Michael parodies they were doing, until he visited the station and understood that "they were just joking around." What a tool. Bang
Am I missing something. This is news?????? Exactly. PR guy spurns media, media thrashes like butthurt little girls about it. there's a reason why PR guys don't wear jerseys with their name on the back. because no one gives a crap. Uh-oh! I hear there was a rude popcorn vendor in section 113! better get some coverage! A ticket taker said the F word! Alert the chopper! ~Burp

Dumbass media guy is literally trying to drag Colt away to interview him.I'm sure it's not the first time in the history of sports that a guy tries to toe the line, and gets cussed out or reprimanded. Unfortunately for us, we are the Redskins, and it was caught on camera. Someone call the National Guard
RhodeIsland Ave
All of you standing up for this guy are missing the point. No one is saying he that he wasn't wrong for not allowing Colt to conduct an on field interview. The issue with him is the way he handled it. As a PR guy, you are supposed to be well versed in conflict resolution practices. He failed in this. He handled it poorly. He is the reason why this is a story. Bang
if no one cares, then why are people, like yourself, posting about it. Ah, the usual internet answer that says "I ain't got nothin' " I'm posting about people like you who think it means something, which precipitates a media that will cater to ninny-girl gossip like this and turn football into another TMZ celebrity fapfest. Please note that we have a 65 post long thread about this topic, and the three that I have offered are directed toward telling people who think this ridiculous bit of fluff is news to please please PLEASE just knock it off. If we stop caring about such idiotic crap, maybe the media will stop treating us like a bunch of squealing teeny-bopper gossip girls. Why is this thread so long? Why did the media even write it like it's a story? why is it important to you? In terms of your enjoyment of the game of football, what is it about this that matters? ~Bang PS: my snarky and sneery attitude towards this is not directed to be anything personal toward anyone, so i hope that it isn't felt as such. My attitude is to the media,, we just react to it.
RhodeIsland Ave
I'm not here to engage in an internet beef, just wanted to post on subjects that are important to me. Obviously you don't see this one as being important, and that's cool; nice that we can live in a society where we can have a difference of opinion. So, I've said my take on it and will leave it at that.
hail2skins
In terms of your enjoyment of the game of football, what is it about this that matters? ~Bang Bang, agreed, it really means zilch as far as the on-the-field product is concerned. However, on this board dedicated to all-things-Skins, this thread is just a discussion about people's opinions about Wyllie. And again, a lot of the reaction is colored by some of his actions in the past. You're a dude who does parody (quite well, I might add). As I said in another post here, Wyllie threatened to sue a local radio station for its parody of Larry Michael last year, until (in Wyllie's words) he met with station personnel and realized "they were just joking around." I'm sure you may have dealt with similar people in regard to your cartoons, but don't you think of the people who might take threatening action against you as uptight jerks? NewCliche21
Can't go with you on this, Bang. He's representing the Redskins and his dumbass actions (and not the first time) are taking away from a win over Dallas. He's the PR guy; there shouldn't be ANYONE who knows better than he does as to how to act when dealing with the public, e.g. media. Just wanna enjoy the win and "nomeansno" is trending and yet another embarrassment. It's not the media who made it a big deal; it's people who were watching. The media just caught on. I'm sure you may have dealt with similar people in regard to your cartoons, but don't you think of the people who might take threatening action against you as uptight d-bags? I sure do! there was a guy for the Ravens who was definitely an uptight D-Bag back in those days. I think I've just gotten too harsh in this thread. It's not just this,, this is symptomatic.. the things we're fed as news dfigresses further and further away from any substance and into the realm of gossip faster than it ever has... the things that people think are news.. it's hard to swallow. The media gives us what we want. true. We want garbage. And so they give it to us, and as they give it to us, we become more accustomed to it. Used to be good trash was hard to find.. tabloids were laughable, and tabloid Tv was only on in a few places and largely during the day. Now it's everywhere, every time of day, things that have no substance, no meaning get blown up into things.. In terms of finding something to bash the Redskins about, there's a lot of stuff. For posters or people to express personal views on this guy and their interactions with him that's definitely a part of our overall experience,, my posts have not really called to the OP,, more to the Yahoo sports articles that have been peppered around about this "incident". On that I haven't been very clear. the fact it is even considered an "incident" worth publishing is where my head shaking becomes chronic. You're right, I do a lot of satire and parody. not so much cartoons anymore,, and lately the podcast has been on hiatus while my partner gets his life out of boxes (he and his wife recently bought a house.) and sometimes I forget that my general attitude of playful sarcasm when it comes to this stuff does NOT translate to the written word. So, i do apologize for my being caustic, especially towards RhodeIslandeAve. Hope he didn't take personal offense. and i see he did not. good ~Bang
Glenn X
DSDS (Daniel Snyder Derangement Syndrome) lives!!! This Tony Wyllie "news item" -- would that it actually were -- had already been mentioned in the Redskin/Cowboy game-day thread. But, no! That's not good enough. So we get an entire thread dedicated to this non-event, so as to serve as a Trojan Horse for certain people to voice their eternal disdain for the Redskins' front office. We get it. Some of you hate Dan Snyder and all his associates. But can you let it go for one friggin' week, and allow the rest of us to enjoy our glorious upset victory over Dallas? P.S. Last I checked, the only "injured" party in this kerfuffle is an employee of ESPN, the same company that spent all of Dallas Week relentlessly jocking the Cowboys and is one of the leaders in the establishment media's ludicrous crusade against the Redskins' nickname. So pardon my French, but **** ESPN and their precious hurt feelings.
