Just flipping through channels and saw it on 212. Guess it's just a preview but basically it's there for good now. The Directv movie and sports info channel has moved to 219. First thing I saw was the Fins victory in the Super Bowl over the Skins:doh:

I doubt if it will show up on a lot of the cable systems. The NFL Network was funded by DirecTV and I am sure they are going to advertise heavily on the channel. Since cable companies can't carry Sunday Ticket, they would be inviting their customers to switch.

DirectTV has already said it will be with certain cable companies. It will take longer for them to get it though.

Why not they can charge $5 bucks a pop, the cable company would be stupid not to carry it.

DirecTV has exclusive access to Sunday Ticket until 2005. Until cable companies can carry Sunday Ticket, they won't be too interested in it. The core audience of this channel are the most likely Sunday Ticket customers and cable companies don't want to lose subscribers to DirecTV.

Yes but the NFL is not going to let direct tv advertise like crazy on this channel. This will be similiar to the NBA.com channel. This is the nfl's channel not direct tv. The difference is if you have direct tv you get it free, for cable you have to pay. In 2005 the Sunday Ticket will be everwhere. The NFL wants everyone to have it, not just Direct TV customers.

I agree that it will be like the NBA tv channel. Most cable companies that offer NBA League Pass carry NBA TV. The ones that don't, usually don't carry NBA TV. NBA TV also shows games and has 15 to 20 a year in HD. The NFL channel will only replay presseason games and show highlights. It is already week 9, if a cable company negotiates and signs up to carry the network, it would be around mid december before they could add it. You won't see it until next fall on a few cable systems and most won't have it until tehy get Sunday Ticket.

I work for Charter Communications and I haven't heard anything about us carrying the NFL Network but I'm encouraging my fellow employees and friends to send emails to the company to try and get it. We're the third largest cable company in the country and it would be ridiculous for us to not want to carry it. We offer what is called the, "Sports Tier," which has around five Fox Sports channels and I think that we'd be able to create a different tier to include those and the NFL Network for not a whole lot more money. People call in all of the time asking about Sunday Ticket and they are upset that we can't offer it. We lose a significant amount of potential customers because of this and I think that the NFL Network would help our current and future customers feel a little bit better and have more football to watch. Honestly, it's a no-brainer... the NFL Network is a must have because millions of people love football, so why not carry a channel that that many people are going to enjoy?

I hope that could cut the NFL S/T's price down a lot. I paid $180 this season and it would be around $200 next season.

I still can't resist it though. :D

Thank God, my wife doesn't mind.
