Big Easy
After watching the Michael Irvin interview of Warren Sapp on ESPN yesterday, I realized the big fella has a point. For him it's the slavemaster preventing him from taking his helmet off to promote himself. For me, it's The Man making me wear pants to work. What is my boss threatened by? Does he not have "the goods"? Would he not "measure up"? Is someone a couple of wadded-up socks short of a "full package"? This "pants rule" is exactly like my forbears getting slaughtered by Henry V on the fields of Agincourt in 1415. It ain't right. And might I add, Michael Irvin as an interviewer is literally without compare. Barbara Walters better be looking over her shoulder.
GB81
I whole-heartedly agree. does my company think that just because they pay me every two weeks, I shouldn't be able to say horrible things about them to every news outlet that will listen? I'm sure if I bad mouthed my company repeatedly on ESPN, they wouldn't mind at all. Warren Sapp is my least favorite person in professional sports. KirkNC
Big Easy you really got a point about that whole pants thing. I know my forefathers stood up so that one day I would not be repressed but enjoy the liberties we all are entiled to.
Jimmythehair
The helmets do block the view of the face. If it had not been for that interview I would have never known what Warrem Sapp looked like. If he cares so much about having his face seen and not protected(the reason for the helmets and face masks) he sould go back to the 1 bar face mask. I always knew what Sonny Jurgenson looked like.
codeorama
If someone would pay me Sapp's salary, I'd say "yessa massa" to them without hesitation. Sapp is an ignorant baffoon that doesn't even understand what the hell he's talking about. Good thread.

SS-Skin
Feeling repressed? Don't worry -- it's all part of the violence inherent in the system. Regarding Sapp: He is typical of the "victim mentality", which turns people into big cry babies. I guess even the reality of a multi-million dollar pay check can't displace the brainwashing which forms this kind of warped thinking. And for Deion: Being such a great interviewer comes from skipping all those classes during his FSU days and hanging with his homeboys. Word.
