His motives can be ascertained in the future. But his targets as he leaves we probably already know: Snyder, the easy-but-always-deserving target, and Robert Griffin III, the quarterback to whom the franchise future is tied. Last season, Shanahan left RGIII in far too long against Seattle and contributed to a knee injury that may limit the ceiling on his whole career. What psychological scars and damage to reputation will he leave now as he departs?" Crazy if Mike's camp was the source of the drama, but it makes sense. StephenDavis
Maybe Shanahan did leave RGIII in the game against Seattle on purpose for further injury. The bottom line is we have to fire him tomorrow

grego
Maybe Shanahan did leave RGIII in the game against Seattle on purpose for further injury.   wtf?? why would he do that?  anyway, with all the 'stories' and drama in terms of leaks that have come out over the last couple of years, this is not a surprise.  this team is terrible, and shanahan built it.
DM72
Maybe Shanahan did leave RGIII in the game against Seattle on purpose for further injury. The bottom line is we have to fire him tomorrow  I didn't want to go this route, but I believe that to be true. Everyone saw that he wasn't hurt, he was injured. But for some strange reason Shanahan kept the future of the franchise in on THAT field?
Gibbs Hog Heaven
..... this team is terrible, and shanahan built it. But he only built it that way because of the cap penalty! Yay. Shanahan is all but gone and I rediscover my inner homer. Good Sunday. Hail.

s0crates
Wow. Just wow. Boswell nailed it. Where have you gone Joe Gibbs? Win or lose, at least we had some class when he was here.

Hence the leaks deflecting blame from Shanny and onto the players. Dude knows he failed miserably and now he's protecting his "legacy" by railroading others. BG
Wow. I didn't think this organization could fall again this fast. In hindsight, it's been held together at its high points by only a select few since Gibbs' first departure.
s0crates
Yay. Shanahan is all but gone and I rediscover my inner homer. Good Sunday. Hail. This mess is a lot of things, but good isn't one of them. Shanny leaving is no cure-all. I cannot see a scenario where this team is good next season. darrelgreenie
Kudos to Bos. First media guy to point out the emperor's new clothes. For too long the local media has been too afraid or reverential towards Shanahan to question his motives or decisions. Which is odd because he treated them like sheit and would never scoop them anything prefering to use outsiders like Shefty and Jenkins.  Well done, sir. Well done

tds
Doesn't matter who the coach is... We will always suck as long as Snyder is buddy buddy with the best players on our team and creates an environment where there are no consequences to publicly undermining the coach. If cousins is better than rg3 we'll never know it. Not with Snyder and RG3 giving each other hand jobs. We won't find out until cousins signs with another team and takes them to the playoffs. Same old skins. Same old owner. Nothing's changed.

Right, right I forgot gems like Baylor didn't have a route tree and that Baylor didn't show Griffin's negative plays and Griffin requested the same in Washington

Boss_Hogg
RGIII was the sole reason the Redskins won the division last year. RGIII got all the praise and adoration from the media, team, and fans. It makes you wonder if Shanny's ego was bruised after a 22 year old rookie got all the glory and he got none. Seams childish but so does cleaning out your office before a playoff game because the Griffin family got along better with the Snyder family.
