My husband was like, "That's really allowed?" and "Every defense should leave someone in the end zone for FGs, then..."

The Redskins should try it. (Or anything. ;))

It would be meaningless to put someone in the endzone on shorter FGs, as they aren't likely to come up short. The only time teams put someone back there is on really long attempts.

To go into OT on the road is just as dangerous. When was the last time any of us saw a field goal returned for a touchdown at any point in the game?

I'm not criticizing Saban. I said I understood why he did what he did. I'm just saying I probably wouldn't have attempted a 57 yarder. Not because I would be worried about them retuning it for a score, but because on long FG attempts you have to kick the ball low, which raises the chances greatly that the kick will be blocked (and returned for a score).

And if Duke wins the ACC Championship? That would knock FSU out of #1, right?

As much as I would like to see it happen, there's zero chance it actually happens.
