pez
Official Extremeskins Tailgate - 10/20/13 VS All Hands on Deck With a disappointing loss to our bitter rivals, we need the team to step up and beat the Chicago football team (I am not saying their team name, because it is insensitive to the species). It is not just on the players, it is on the fans as well, everyone needs to rally and make noise to help the team get some momentum and wins. Lets do our part! The Extremeskins Tailgate has become an institution at Fedex Field, and it is because of all the members involved. The dedication, hard work and investments by folks year in and year out is second to none. This tailgate is getting bigger every year and is well respected because of our passion, our friendly welcoming environment and the charity we do. The Redskins organization has recognized our contributions and how we present ourselves and because of that, has recognized our tailgate as official Redskins Fan Captains. Lets continue to do our best as the best tailgate at Fedex Field! Once again, the Extremeskins Tailgate will have containers available for the Extremeskins Charity Funds. There will be two containers. One container will be for pop tabs (the little tabs on the top of aluminum beer and soda cans)... this is to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. If you drink a beer or coke, don't forget to take off the tab and put it in the container before throwing away!!! The other container will be for monetary donations, and will be for the the charity selected selected this year: <TBD> Please check the charity threads! Please donate what you can, there are needy folks out there that can use our help! I am sure most of you are familiar with our tailgate threads, but I like to emphasize that we try to be as organized as we possibly can. At the bottom of this post you will see 4 sections (Food, Drinks, Supplies and Needed Items). We ask that if you plan on attending, and if you can donate items to the tailgate, that you check what we have and what we need and post what you can bring. I will keep the lists updated as frequently as I can. We understand that in some situations, that folks cannot bring something, but we do ask that people who regularly attend the tailgate try to chip in something. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Remember:Food/Drinks/Supplies are appreciated over monetary donations What Is It? We are a gathering of die hard Washington Redskins fans who love to come together and have a good time out in the lots before and after the game. Our tailgate has become a very popular point at Fedex Field, and we have been featured in numerous media broadcasts. If you like to eat great food and enjoy tasty beverages while playing games, listening to tunes and chatting about the brugundy and gold with fellow die hard fans, then this is the place for you! When Is It? October 20th. 9:00 am - 12:40 pm. Post game tailgate times vary (but yes there is a post game tailgate!). The tailgate always starts the moment the parking lot opens (4 hours before game time) and we start packing up around 30 minutes before game time. Many of us arrive even earlier to do a bit of pre-tailgating on Redskins Road before the lot is opened... you can usually find a bunch of us at the very front of the line. Where Is It? We have found a nice spot (featuring concrete & grass areas) in the Fedex Field parking lot that offers us a ton of room and protection from cars running all over the place as well as other amenities. Section E-43 in the Green Lot (see map below). From 495- Take exit 17B to merge onto MD-202 W/Landover Rd toward Bladensburg - At the first light, turn left onto Brightseat Rd - At the first light, keep straight onto Redskins Rd (stadium should be straight ahead of you) and start getting into the lanes on the left. - When you get into the parking area surrounding the stadium, make the first available left - Keep towards the back of the lot (tree line) - Follow till you see the signs on the poles for E-42 & E-43 (we are smack in between) - We are against the treeline. You should see a flagpole with a black ExtremeSkins flag and yellow Redskins Fan Captain flag. >>> Click Maps for larger view (make sure your pop-up blocker is off)<<< Who Can Come? Absolutely everyone... the more the merrier! This tailgate originated as a tailgate for the ExtremeSkins board, but it has expanded to so much more and has brought in not only folks from other fan sites, but it has become a haven for all Redskins fans, their friends and their families. We accept fans of all sorts, even of other teams. We ask if you come to the tailgate, that you remember one thing... treat others as you would want to be treated! We appreciate the razzing of opponents fans, but keep it civil (treat those as you would be treated)! We do not tolerate any physical violence, threats, property damage, etc... Fans of all ages are welcome (We have non-alcoholic items as well). We have lots of kids at our tailgate When it comes down to it, we are all fans of a game and all want to have a good time. As the Hogettes always say: Hate the team (especially Dallas), not the fan! What Can I Do? We are a potluck style tailgate, so we prefer that folks bring food/drinks/supplies rather than money. While we do not solicit any contributions to the tailgate, they are welcome. Many of us who help run the tailgate spend alot of money on the supplies that we provide at every tailgate. Anything you can do to help is highly desired and appreciated, such as bringing food, drinks, supplies or even donating monetarily (which is distributed among the core members of the group). During the course of this tailgate's history, every year, we have had people step up and become core members that help with the organization, setup and supply of the tailgate, which has resulted in its success. If you would like to help out in this capacity, please let us know, we desperately could use the help! If you are bringing a food, drink or supply item to the tailgate, please post a response in this thread with what you plan to bring !! Who Do I Contact? You can get almost every question answered by posting in this thread, but if you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact Huly or myself via PM or by emailing: pez@gwu.edu or skinshuly@gmail.com We will try to get back to you in a timely manner. Again... please try to post your question in this thread. pez
Pez, I was serous about what I said. I have been told wings have been bad luck lately, plus after doing wings for close to a decade, I am ready for something new... And hopefully these (homemade) carnitas should be quite tasty! Going to be using 3-4 pork shoulders with corn tortillas maybe some sort of cilantro/lime slaw and was thinking about a tomatillo/avocado salsa
my_friend_goo
I'm crossing the pond for this game. When I decided to save up last year for this trip, things were somewhat more positive and I figured I'd be coming to watch a victory surge rather than a misfiring team. Still, gotta keep the faith and no matter what, I'm still going to be there rooting enthusiastically. Anyway, there's two of us coming and, as tourists, we will be reliant on the metro. I figure our best option for a contribution will be something for the bar, probably spirits. We're staying in Rosslyn, Arlington and there is a Safeway in walking distance so should be able to make good on that. Any recommendations or requests would be helpful, or if there's something more useful we can practically bring, let me know. I look forward to meeting you all. MarkB452
I'll be there with my 2 brothers and nephew (edit). 2 liter bottle of coke 1 bottle margarita mix 1 roll paper towels 1 bag of Knife/Fork/Spoon combo set. 4 chairs 1 cooler of Beer with Ice + some sodas 10 Brats (6 regular, 4 spicy << the spicy ones are from the Springfield Butcher) 2 Packs of hot dog buns 1 portable propane grill 1 serving pan 1 Gadget charger (battery pack with 12 V, USB, and regular electrical outlets) 2 Dozen Krispy Kreme donuts To our friends from over the pond, don't expect to find hard liquor/spirits at Safeway. In VA, you will need to go to an ABC store. Rum and Tequilla are always welcome, but see if Tastes Like Chicken (AKA TLC) has any requests for the bar. Mean Old Bear
Hi guys would it be ok if we came to your tailgate, we are Bears fans from England. This will be our third game in America but we have never been to a tailgate party before. Our first game was in Chicago and it was to cold to go to tailgate, last year we got to game late in San Fransisco. What would be good to bring with us ?. We could bring some spirits as we will be a able to get some duty free. cheers Dave & Liane
MarkB452
Everybody is welcome to attend. You can even wear Bears clothing/gear. I had some Packers friends come to ES a few years ago and they had a great time. They got booed a little walking through the parking lot to the stadium, but it was all in good fun. Anything you can get through customs (there are limits, right?) would be appreciated, especially if you have something unique from your home country. There is a store a couple of stops away on the Metro, but I think Mean Old Bear has the right idea - I'll see what we can pick up at the airport. Please check the first post and see if you can bring anything on that list... As was mentioned, we love when the international community brings something from their country. BTW... Any of you guys friends with Adam Goldstein AKA:Tailgate Knight He is a huge bears fan from England and has written a great book about his experiences tailgating various football (american) games. He is also a fellow member of PFUFA which is basically the Fan Hall of Fame. Pez

my_friend_goo
Bought a bottle of Sipsmith gin at the duty free. Now, I'm no gin drinker myself, but they're definitely an English brand (small, London company) and I've heard it's a very good gin. Suffolk Skins- not quite sure what our plans are yet, but if you're at the tailgate, I'm sure we'll meet. Dad's fairly distinctive with his turban. mitchellvii
As long as the offensive playcalling remains completely inconsistent (e.g., beginning the game in no huddle and moving the ball effectively then inexplicable abandoning it, going full huddle late in the 4th down by multiple scores with no apparent urgency at all, horrific clock management in general, sending receivers on 20 yard patterns on 3rd and 3 when the defense is showing blitz then sending receivers on 5 yard patterns on 3rd and 10, the list goes on...). As long as our defense rushes 5 or blitzes on almost every down and refuses to employ things called "arms" when tackling. As long as none of that changes we really have no chance this season. As they say the fish stinks from the head down and the brains running this show appear to have no idea what they are doing.

It was a pleasure to meet you and put some faces to the board names. Here's to the next time! Great meeting you too and glad you got to see a win.....what was the deal with altercation behind you at the game in 401? I saw the police escort several folks out. I will try some of the gin at the next game. HTTR!!
my_friend_goo
Surprisingly, we weren't aware of any behaviour warranting ejections despite seeing security going up multiple times. However, I heard a fight had broken out. Not the same as last time I was over, where two groups were heckling at each other and the tipping point was an argument over the intentional grounding rule... hope the gin goes down well.
