I Had A Great Stay In Washington This Weekend.

Other than the Lions/Skins game, it couldn't have gone any better. I admit, it was A LOT of walking, but I saw all the monuments and places of interest that I wanted to see. The subway system was VERY easy and clean. From the people in the Reagan Radisson Hotel to people I meant on the streets, everyone was VERY nice. The National Zoo was a treasure. It was huge with a lot of walking and they could use a bear exhibit, but it is a well done zoo. Just wish the subway stop was a little closer as you have to walk up a hill to get there.

I hear a lot of people complain about FedEx Field over the years. I thought it was a marvelous stadium. I admit, I had an obstructed view seat, but the stadium is a charm. I recently went to Metlife Stadium in NYC/NJ, FedEx is better. Again, I wish the subway was a little closer. Speaking of which, the Redskins or whover operates it, should be ashamed of themselves for charging $35.00 for a shuttle ride from the subway to the stadium. That was a long walk. I told everyone around here seeing the concession area in FedEx just proves how outdated Ralph Wilson Stadium(Bills)is.

I will definitely be making this an every year trip from now on.

Sorry but compared to the Phone Booth and Nats Park, FedEx is a local embarrassment. I still refuse to go.Agree on the rest (though it's kinda funny seeing DC Zoo get praise). I've lived all over this country. Nothing tops DC for me. I might be a bit biased though :)

Mainly because for the first time in my life, I saw a giant panda, which is rare at zoos.

Next time your on metro going to the zoo, you really don't have to walk up hill.  It's been awhile since I was there but if I recall, you can just go to the next stop ( Cleveland Park?)  and walk downhill to the zoo.   And when you leave walk downhill to Woodley Park.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

Glad you had a good time.  I plan on getting back up there sometime soon.

I was at the Detroit game, too. What a beautiful day, weather-wise. Too bad about the final score though.

I had tickets to the Saturday night Nats game but it was rained out. I really wanted to see Nats park.

Went down to the mall and the lincoln, WW2, and vietnam memorials as well as the monument - which looks really cool with the cage. Must have walked 10 miles myself. Hadnt been inside the Lincoln Memorial since the 70's - that is something else.

DC is a great town - I moved away 20 years ago now, after living there for 20 years - I miss it all the time but dont think I could afford to live there. Everything is so damned expensive.
