jameyny692
I live in upstate NY and I am surrounded by Giants fans. Last week one of my Co-workers whom I had considered to be a pretty good friend came into the office and was talking about how the Giants were going to destroy the panthers because they were going to be playing for Coughlins brother just like when they played for Wellington Mara and destroyed the Redskins. He came into the office and someone asked him how the Giants did and he said they lost badly. I said that it was ok because they played for Coughlins Brother. By the look on his face you would have thought I was talking about his brother. How dare I say something like that and at least he wasnt a fan of a racist team was his reply. My question is was this joke in poor taste or was he just being a baby about things?

Xameil
First off...where in Upstate NY? 2nd off...if someone is going to claim they are playing for someone, they better damn well at least put up a fight...so no...any comment is more a shot to the players who just HAD to say something and didn't back it up then disrespect to the coach. The only ones who disrespected the coach were his players.
HOF44
Ah maybe a little bad taste being it was Coughlin's brother. But any relation to Mara would be fair game. He deserves any and all bad karma that comes his way. Dirty lyin cheatin scoundrel!!!!!

Bang
He's being a baby. People get ridiculous about their 'sensitivity' towards dead people they never met. Especially when it helps him deflect from his team's pathetic showing yesterday. You should push his buttons. go ask him if he felt that being shutout was a proper tribute. Ask him if the guy's dying wish was to have Cam Newton destroy the Giants. Ask him if given what he knows now, he'd rather it was Tom Coughlin that had died instead of his brother, because then the giants may have had a chance. Tell him not to worry, and that the guy is better off dying than living through the weekend and having to see that game. Ask him how much of a salary cap hit are the Redskins going to have to eat for Coughlin's brother dying. Get a tear in your eye.. a hitch in your voice, and say that when you go.. you hope.. your brother .. loves you so much as to send his team out there and embarrass themselves in front of 80,000 people like that.. moving... Console him and say it's OK, death is a part of life, and he was old and it was his time. Now what's the giants excuse? we could do this all day ~Bang

Hazel-Ra
Unless the dude actually knows the Coughlins or if the brother died young of non natural causes, it's not a big deal. Everyone jokes about someone else pegging out at some point in their life... it's a natural way of dealing with death.

kleese
I had some people call me after the Bills loss in 2007 and say, "They really came trough for Sean, didn't they?" Etc etc.... So, just can't turn around and get sensitive if someone teased Redskins fans that day.

I can see your point. But I also think there is a big difference to a football team to losing a active player than the head coach's brother. Big key on to the football team. I thought it was funny because the Giant fan played the card first.
