LittleTinyUnbornBaby
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/09/phillip-thomas-foot-sprain-part-of-tough-night-for-redskins-rookie-safeties/ So I noticed Phillip Thomas came out of the game last night and I never saw him return, also never heard an update during the game or since. PFT reports he came out with shoulder stinger and has a sprained foot, he was in a walking boot after the game but said shoulder is no cause for concern. Hope he's ok for the season, we all know how important our safety position is going to be this year Also found the post article for injuries as well: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/08/09/kimbrough-thomas-stallworth-could-miss-time-with-injuries/ *Update* Thomas out for the year with Lisfranc ligament tear. CommDownMan
I was wondering about this as well and was a bit surprised to not see much listed. Thanks for posting, hopefully PT can recover quickly.

SemperFi Skins
FWIW, Dejon Gomes played his butt off last night... So if it must be, Gomes can step in for some playing time as well. He looked like he's progressed quite bit, although it was preseason.

Neither Doughty nor Meriweather played, and they'll both play before Gomes in the regular season.
nemocystem
Gomes got duped pretty bad on overpursuit on that CJ2K 58 yard dart. Orakpo hesitated on contain, but Gomes needed to be there to at least force CJ inside. i saw him get swept up, or bite hard on misdirection a few times & i think he was a main reason why we had trouble stopping the run. he didn't get into his fits very well. also noticed that Riley didn't shuck his blocks all that well a few times. MumboSauce
I'm surprised all that Philip Thomas has is a sprained foot the way it got caught and twisted I thought it would be much worst. Good thing for youth, flexibility and a little luck I guess. Like I read Rambo needed to attack/dive and try to get a piece, but he'll learn, that's a tough play to make on a rb the likes of Chris Johnson for most safeties. Orakpo screwed that play up. 'Sprain' is the operative placeholder teams give until a more thorough diagnosis is made. We should know the real deal tomorrow as the MRI will have been performed. The way it rolled up, I would be surprised if he escapes with a sprain.
MEANDWARF
Glad to hear that Thomas is okay. As far as Rak and Rambo screwing up that play, that's why they call it pre-season.
redskins55
i keep seeing people say that Rak was the cause of that 58yd run. he wasnt!!! Football 101, Rak had outside contain. his responsibility was the QB boot or roll out. His technique is to squeeze the line and yes he was wider than he shouldve been, but thats not his play to make. the fault goes to the inside LB, DT and SS. they are reaponsible for the cut back on the stretch, and they got demolished! Yes it was bad, but that one is on Rak. actually...i wasn't speaking about the missed tackle. Rambo did all he could....i thought he tried to maintain outside contain with his tackle attempt & CJ2K just made a cut that most guys can't make & still remain in full-stride. this made it so that he could still out-run the opposite-field pursuit. Rambo forced him inside towards help, even though he missed the tackle. fundamentally sound attempt. as far as Gomes...you can see him get swept up in the misdirection (note the dreads/braids/predator helmet) & then gets caught in no-man's land by the cut-back Guard & once CJ2K broke through the gaping hole there was nobody else there for back-side pursuit. Orakpo got caught too......but there needs to be secondary help at least 4-5 yards downfield so that play doesn't wind up a game-breaker. Orakpo can't be the ONLY one responsible for keeping containment......if that's the case then i blame the coaching staff.

I'm pretty sure Gomes, wasnt in on that play, you mean Phillip Thomas most likely.. Gomes is #24 for reference The people with dreads in on the play are #41 Thomas and #30 Biggers.. To Gomes credit he always has played pretty well, his biggest downfall is his size.. Pretty small for a safety

GoSkins0721
My wife & I were in downtown Richmond last night about 6:30 and saw Philip Thomas, Jeremy Kimbrough and a couple of other players walking back to their hotel. Kimbrough had his arm in a sling. Thomas had crutches but wasn't really using them. I couldn't tell what he had on his foot, but he clearly didn't need the crutches to walk. He wasn't carrying the crutches but he also wasn't using them to support his body weight. Watching him walk I would expect to see him back at practice on Monday. Just my $0.

But from what I understand, a liz franc injury can still come back with a normal X-ray at first. So if he's not getting better they may still need an MRI . . . . I think. Conn
Not good. I read something earlier today that the things Chiefs fans do NOT want to hear being associated with Jammal Charles' name were: "Foot specialist" "North Carolina" and "Dr. Anderson". Well, Phillip Thomas is going to North Carolina to see foot specialist Dr. Anderson. Not encouraging news.
