You have zero idea if he faked it or not, and based on how he has looked this season I’m going to think it was real. Kawhi isn’t as explosive as he was two seasons ago and his quad looks to be still bothering him

The Spurs medical staff diagnosed him with tendenosis, and that's what he has.  It's a chronic condition and it will never truly go away.  But it can be managed, which is what Toronto did this season.  Kawhi doc shopped to get a different diagnosis and came up with his own BS rehab plan that kept him out of most of that season.  That is what he was faking.  He wanted out and he orchestrated a conflict with the team and contrived a way to make them look like the bad guys.  But it takes about five seconds of critical thought to see he's full of crap.  The most conservative organisation in the NBA regarding injury management, the same one that wanted to rule him out for the season but he wouldn't let them, is supposed to have tried to rush him back a misdiagnosis and then shame him as a wuss for not playing?  😂

Or... he quit in them.

Who we haven't heard from is Popovich and the Spurs, because they're too classy to trash a former player for quitting in the team.

Except they trashed him last season when he was out injured. We have video of this, why even make this up?

You are talking nonsense by comparing Lavar Ball to Kawhi's Uncle. And eff out of here for calling the man who stepped in to be a father figure to someone whose dad was murdered a leech. You sound real suspect saying this nonsense.

Go on ahead and believe Uncle Dennis then.  LOL.  You would.

Why shouldn’t they when organizations do the same. Remember isiah Thomas or the clippers and Blake.

Some organizations do.  Other organizations work with their players and protect them and help them succeed.  The Spurs have always done that.

And?  He was telling the truth btw.  Popovich has gone out of his way to shield Kawhi from criticism of how he forced his way out of San Antonio.  He's a good man, I would have aired his dirty laundry the minute his uncle started trashing the team.

Because you ALWAYS side with the players against the teams, even when they're completely acting out of self interest.

Because teams never act out of self-interest. NEVER!

And the basis of your entire point is down to you being mad that Kawhi got over on Pop. That's it. You called Kawhi a fraud because you think he faked an injury, despite you also saying the Spurs asked him to shut it down last season. So he either faked the injury or the Spurs were also in on it.

Then you called his uncle, who has basically been his father the last 12 years, a sleazeball because he went against the Spurs.

All because they went against Popovich.

I believe the drama started when tony Parker came out and said he had the same injury but 100x worse and was able to play thru it. Terrible ****ing statement by your veteran. No way pop didn’t know tony was going to say those things. Danny green came to his defense. Now where is Danny green?

The drama seemed to start when no one had heard anything clear from Kawhi himself about what the issue was.  Remember that there was a team meeting reported where his teammates (plural), were loudly demanding answers.  Not coaches, not front office staff, but other players.

When his own teammates were frustrated by the radio silence his camp was putting out, it’s hard to believe this was all the fault of the Spurs brass.

Besides, the spurs were paying out millions of dollars, they have every right to demand medical updates in greater detail than “I’m still in pain”.  There’s nothing wrong with that.  If another doctor found something, Kawhi’s camp should have forwarded those specifics over to them.  Can anyone name his exact injury now?  Reading media reports it seems everyone is still guessing.

With a year to marinate on it, I think there was less ulterior motive, and more one team is pissed st a guy who's probably taking too much advice from people around him (who ultimately care more about him than a team who's biggest priority is to get him back playing no matter what).

Team gets pissed, Kawhi gets his feelings hurt, probably feels like he did a lot for the team and didnt deserve to be thrown under the bus.

Seems like ho hum stuff, where it should be really hard to feel something for one side or the other.

Enter, tabloid journalism, telling their good guy/bad guy story. With the amount if vigor that seems to stir this stuff up more and more as the years go by, you'd think we'd have caught on by now...

I think if there was anything malicious about the dude, more would've come out. Don't know anything about his uncle, but it largely seems like family protecting family.

Only thing I didn't like was tbe preferential trade request. Once you throw down that card, its really up to them where you go.

That quote from Parker got misconstrued.  He was actually offering support for Kawhi: I was able to come back from a much worse version of the injury, you will be able to come back too got turned into why aren't you back yet?

IMO the Spurs were right and this season proved it: quadriceps tendinopathy.  The Raptors treated him the way the Spurs wanted to and he was able to play huge minutes in the postseason.  Kawhi doc-shopping around to get his obscure diagnosis and rehab plan was just an attempt to obfuscate his injury and situation and give him cover for sitting out last season in an effort to force his way out of San Antonio.

Kawhi's actions only make sense when you understand that his and his uncle's ultierior motive from the beginning was to get him from San Antonio to New York or LA with his brand in tact.  His uncle has this promotion company he's trying to get off the ground and he's using Kawhi to launch it, and he wants him to be in LA or New York for it to work best.  His uncle isn't an agent, he can't make money off of Kawhi's NBA contracts.  He has to make money off the peripheral stuff.

The Spurs diagnosis is a chronic condition that can't be cured.  It will require strict load management to treat his pain and keep him on the floor like what the Raptors did this year, which will probably limit him to like 60 games a season from now on.  This diagnosis could have hurt his contract value, it's in Kawhi's interest to obfuscate his injury.  And the rehab plan that he came up with was intended to alienate him from the Spurs so that they'd trade him.

Kawhi's plan worked by the way.  He didn't get traded to LA like he wanted, but he forced his way out and got to a team that was on the same page as him.  Toronto knows he wants to go to LA this offseason, they know they have to rebuild.  This was their way of buying goodwill for that process.  They followed the load management treatment plan and rode Kawhi in the postseason to the Finals and thus both Kawhi and the Raptors will get what they want out of the trade.  It worked because Kawhi is a great player and he didn't get hurt this year, and it helped that LeBron went West.

Kawhi to Lakers to unite with LeBron would be amazing.

He's going to go to the Clippers.

Kyle Lowry would never quit on his team or force a trade.

Toronto couldn't give him away.  And for his sake, I hope is performance in the 2015 playoffs was him quitting on his team.
