wantarace17
Looks like we have our first storm of the season, Andrea. Two days ago it looked like it was going to be a blob on moisture and now she is trying her hardest to become a 70 mph storm. Lots of rain for the east coast. No Excuses
Had plants to be in Florida for the weekend with my girlfriend but cancelled because of it. Ended up getting a better deal for July. Hopefully it's not Tropical Storm or Hurricane time again.
Koolblue13
The thunder and lightning storm the other night was off the hook. Just incredible. Kind of scary though.

Larry
Pretty much stopped raining, here, about 3PM. Not complaining that the rivers aren't flooding. But I wouldn't have minded the 3-4 inches they forecast.
Koolblue13
I'd rather not see any more hurricanes coming across Mexico and reforming in the Caribbean. No good can come from that. If another had been coming from the East at the same time.......
MattFancy
Not really a tropical threat, but since this is a storm thread it seemed like a good idea to put this in here. Sounds like there is a possibility of a derecho tonight or tomorrow? What do you weather guys think?

Sounds like there is a possibility of a derecho tonight or tomorrow? What do you weather guys think? Where is my picard facepalm when I need it. Derecho gets everyone's attention because of what happened last year. What is more likely to happen is supercell development or damaging winds. There is also a chance of tornadoes. I'll change the thread title so instead of having 3 different weather threads we can consolidate it here

I'm in Southern Maryland so just curious.

Skins24
This hurricane season is close to being a record setter. If no hurricane forms by 9/11 (and though there's a wave off the coast of Africa that may become a tropical something, it's doubtful it'll be a hurricane by then) it'll be the latest we haven't seen any hurricanes in the satellite era. If we make it to October 9th without a hurricane, we'll set the all time record. ENSO is pretty neutral if not leaning La Nina (favorable for Atlantic hurricanes) so, that's not a factor. Any dust coming off of Africa doesn't explain the Caribbean and Gulf, so....*shrugs*
Skins24
With sustained winds of 195mph, Typhoon Haiyan is not only going to be one of the strongest storms to ever hit land, it's one of the strongest ever.... And the Philippines are still recovering from the 7.1 quake they just had... http://www.cnn.com/2013/11/07/world/asia/philippines-typhoon-haiyan/ On sat. the storm is absolutely perfect.
