Sticksboi05
The son of a ***** who wouldn't rewind the VHS tape that you picked up from BlockBuster... Paying for the Internet by the hour. 2D gaming and its awesomeness. Internet + Phone = Doesn't work. Having to physically go to your friend's house to play video games with each other. Waiting for TVGuide Channel to get to your station after barely missing it. The VCR destroying your favorite movie. Handheld gaming minus color, rechargable batteries and a built in light. Actual Saturday morning cartoon blocks. Floppy disks. Crappy CD players that always skipped. The concept of using payphones. Cathode ray televisions. Being able to play dodgeball and other "violent" games in school.
CrypticVillain
For the DC area... sports championships. Waiting for TVGuide Channel to get to your station after barely missing it. Son of a #$%^& I used to hate that. I remember for like 5 days straight, I kept missing Nickelodeon by like three seconds every time I wanted to see what was coming on lol. First Colony
Airlines that included meals and luggage as part of the ticket price. Oh, and as a kid they'd let you go up into the ****pit and give you a pin with wings. And give you a deck of cards. They still let kids do that. Last month, my 5 year old got to visit the ****pit before we took off and the pilots had the plane "talk" to him. Basically, they turned on the warning system so he could see if the plane was a boy or a girl. It was a boy. And last year, on a different airline, they let him say, "Hello" over the loudspeaker. Yeah, I never got to do this since airline travel was a rarity, so I'm living through my son.
DM72
Video game arcades. Real singers. Where's the Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin or Teddy Pendergrass of today? Saturday morning cartoons. Growing up, nothing beat Looney Tunes, Superfriends, Fat Albert, Alvin and the Chipmunks and School House Rock and a bowl of Froot loops on Saturday morning. A time when MTV actually showed music videos. Pro wrestling.
Mr. Sinister
As recently as the 1980s, credit cards were still somewhat a novelty. Most people carried cash or checkbooks. Going on a trip meant either taking a large sum of cash with you or travelers checks. I remember being told that AmEx invented the credit card, because they had all this money sitting around, from people who had bought traveler's checks, and hadn't used them, yet. The AmEx card was the solution to the problem "is there any way we can make a short-term profit off of all this money we've got sitting around?" ---------- Wondering if THIS is dying, now days: Possibly. I've come across a lot of people who don't know how to drive one. Gives you more options hen you go to by a car (that's if there are any on the lot, because a lot of places don't even bother with them anymore)
