It's not a defeat.  It'll be back when the team gets good.  If the team gets good.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Two reasons why the name change debate got kicked up a few years ago:

1.  RG3 leading this team to the forefront of the NFL.  Most jersey sales and the year after his rookie season, most prime time games out of any NFL team.  All of a sudden the Redskins are a hot team, people take notice.  No one cares about this debate when the team is in last place with no marquee players on it.  I am willing to bet that if the Redskins had a generational talent that was one of the key faces of the NFL, this debate is still going on.  "....of the Redskins leads all NFL players in jersey sales.  But what does selling jerseys of a team that has what some deem a racist name say about the state of the NFL and what's tolerated?  Bob Ley reports."

2.  Dan Snyder doubling down and saying the name will never change.

The team sucks, Snyder is out of the public eye pretty much all the time and doesn't give interviews.

Sorry the argument only comes up when this team blows.  There was nothing this season about it.

She's the one who won't go to the High Schools who still use the name with majority NA student populations to argue her point. You'd think she could have spent the past few decades doing that. Maybe she tried and they told her she doesn't speak for them. I don't know.

and for the record. I'm in the "I don't care anymore" zone. Keep it. Change it. Whatever.

Im temporarily in that zone too. I’m incredibly angry at the organization. I don’t even know who we drafted.

Well see how that changes when the season starts.

A lot of us get it. Nobody who wants to keep the name is doing it because they want to be racist.

Said it before. If they ever drop the name. I'd rather there be no new nickname. Just Washington. The Washington Football Club. I mean, I guess Warriors is ok. But I'd rather just have their number on their helmet and the same colors.

I'm here, too.

And if they ever do decide to change it, I think they should put it in the hands of Native Americans to decide what the new name is.  Or if the Native Americans don't want to change it, that's fine, too.

Aaaaand, boom:

Poll of Native Americans’ view of Redskins name finds “proud” most common answer

A new survey has found that Native Americans are more likely to be proud than offended by the name of the Washington Redskins.

The survey, as reported by the Washington Post, asked 500 people who identify as Native American to pick from a list of words which one best described their feelings about the Redskins name. The word most picked was “proud.”

Following “proud” came “indifferent,” “annoyed,” “content,” “satisfied” and “disappointed.”

The Washington Post did not publish the full results of the survey, so we do not know what percentage of respondents offered each response, but regarding the word “proud,” the Washington Post reports that “most of the survey’s respondents felt that way.”

I don't follow this thread much, but I've posted this idea in the Stadium's "Conspiracy Thread".

So I don't know if it's been mentioned here in this thread. Sorry if it has.

But is there any belief in a league conspiracy involving refs to make one-sided calls to keep the Skins from winning and becoming a good playoff team,

because the league doesn't want the negative publicity that would come with the Skins making the playoffs and doing well.

It's also evident in the way we get very little coverage by the sports media, and they always pick us to go 3-13, despite offseason improvements.

Just a conspiracy that I wondered how much anyone has thought about.
