LOL, my man!  I feel the same way.  Like WTF is going on, but you know what's going on.

The father of the dead girl just randomly breaks out into some scary ass Dean Martin routine as a way of coping, and then everyone joins in on the act to keep him from melting down, making things super awkward. Wtfffff. Then Coopers weird obsession with the pies from that diner, lol. Lara Flynn Boyle though, my goodness 😷

Theme song is super catchy too. One part dental receptionist area melody, one part peak late 80's-early 90's porn music, one part instructional warehouse safety/drivers ed video music from like 1985.

It's been a few years since it ran, but I've been giving White Collar a go and like it so far. I was a big Mentalist fan, and White Collar scratches the itch pretty well with a similar premise but not as heavy a plot running in the background: Witty, friendly, manipulative-but-not-in-an-evil-way person works as a consultant for a law enforcement agency full of straightmen in exchange for freedom and help with trying to stop/find someone. I'm only a few episodes in, but I like what I see.

Extra old throwback, but I've also been seeing a 1 season series from Britain in the 70's: Danger UXB. It follows a bomb disposal crew in the middle of the London Blitz, and shows a decent amount of detail in how they disarmed unexploded bombs scattered across London. I can't say I've seen anything like this series before.

Anyone caught this newest booty on Netflix called "I-Land?"

I would watch it, but the hover cursor preview thing made it seem a little too LOST-y for my taste.

Im not always deadset against shows that try to recapture a certain genre, but LOST took a part of me. I belong to it, so it's kinda tough to accept this

Snowfall just finished it's 3rd season.. Pretty solid series, imo!  Just wish (and maybe I missed it) but how much time passed between the final 2 episodes?

I gave up on that show after season 1.  The acting was just so bad and the characters just were not believable.  I was hoping it would get better but it just felt so silly the entire time.

The reviews on the show are universally so terrible that i'm almost inclined to watch it just to see if it is truly that bad

i watched the first ep last night.. It's that bad 😮.

Basically starts just like LOST with them all ****ed up on the island (big no no ) and in this case, suffering from amnesia.

So they all catch up and immediately start beefing. These two chicks (one I recognize as the gf from Remember The Titans) start going at each other passive aggressively over a knife, they all then start arguing over each others names, then whiplashingly agree to a beach party out of nowhere.

Hunky wannabe Sawyer/Jack wants to get comfy with wannabe Kate, then they go off and dude gets whiplashingly rapey, and she runs back to the beach party just in time to see a dude get eaten by 3 PS2 sharks that come seemingly from nowhere, and make the dude disappear in a rather small amount of blood for a viscious multi-shark attack.

Oh, and the sharks immediately disappear too, but I didnt care, because its 2019, and those damn things look like they came from 2001.

I too lost my memory after that.

Started watching "Undone" on Prime.  It's animated, but in such a way that some scenes look very real and not in a Pixar way either.  A woman has a car crash and is visited by her dead father who died when she was 8.  He is going to teach her how to travel through time so he can save her.  It's a bit trippy.  I like it so far, but my wife pointed out that her father seems like he's a user. (not drugs, but people).  His "accident" occurred after he had to leave her in an unfamiliar neighborhood and now he's upending her life.

Like I said, it's trippy.  Maybe I need something to help me watch it.

I'm a 2-3 episodes in.  It's different than Lost, there isn't any purgatory and all the supernatural stuff.  Takes a completely different approach, the only similarity I've seen so far is that both shows had people stranded on an island.  Watch the first three episodes as they show you fairly quickly what is really going on (can't remember if it's in episode 2 or 3).

Edit:  just saw you watched the first episode.  Yes the acting is pretty bad :rofl89:  Once I found out what is actually going on, it sparked a little interest.  But it's not something I'm dying to watch or finish immediately.  Probably finish it up over the weekend.

So word is out that there is going to be another Battlestar Galactica remake.

Part of me wants to get excited, but I don't see how they top the SyFy remake.

No idea...not sure if they're going to make it more like the cheesey af original, or as dark as the Syfy remake.

I remember watching the original as a little kid.  I'm going to guess they go in the direction of darker than cheesy, it's gotta compete with the other streaming services original shows (Star Trek Discovery, Picard, The Mandalorian, Titans, Doom Patrol, etc.).

Cheesy worked back in the day for that genre, but I think now, most shows like this (sci-fi and also super hero) have discovered that dark, kick ass action, language, etc. path works really well.

You are going to have to pay to see it. It will air on Universals streaming service: Pea****.

I'll subscribe to only watch that show, then cancel.  What sucks is now every freaking station is heading down the subscription path with exclusive content on their streaming service.  All the premium channels (HBO, Max, Showtime, Starz) and all the others (YouTube - Kobra Kai, DC Universe, CBS All Access, Shudder, etc.).

I hear ya.. It's just a genre that I enjoy and they're aren't (m)any to choose from these days. The "story" definitely picked up since season 1, but the actors are still the actors.. lol  They really should hire a couple OG's as editors to tell em' "Yea, this **** here would of got you kllled right quick", but it is what it is.. 😉

New season of American Horror Story starts tonight! The subtitle is 1984. They are tackling the slasher sub-genre this season.

Ugh, 80's glory tv and film has gotten so tired.

It does seem like everyone is doing it.  But as far as slasher/horror goes, I think this might be pretty good.  Depends on what type of and how much nostalgia is inserted.  If they are just going for the classic slasher/horror vibe (e.g. Friday the 13th) and just the look and feel of the 80s horror flicks, it might not be that bad.

I have been watching Banshee, a show from Cinemax a few years ago that is now on Amazon Prime.  I liked the first season, there are some brutal fight scenes.  There are some aspects of the show that make me roll my eyes, like how every beautiful woman on the show has sex with the main character within minutes of meeting him... With some women even showing up to kill him, then deciding to have sex with him instead.

Overall, the show has been good.  Several interesting characters, particularly the bad guys.
