The trades are so unrealistic. Other than this is cool. Secondary is definitely very deep which is great. We should be able to come out of this draft with a solid prospect at FS, SS, and CB in the 2nd-4th rounds.

This is what I ended up with... I would love this to really happen.

Round 2 Pick 19: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State (A)

Round 3 Pick 26 (G.B.): Bacarri Rambo, FS, Georgia (A)

Round 4 Pick 22: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina (C+)

Round 4 Pick 24 (IND): Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina (A)

Round 4 Pick 25 (G.B.): Shawn Williams, SS, Georgia (B-)

Round 5 Pick 21: Kevin Reddick, ILB, North Carolina (A)

Round 5 Pick 29: Kenjon Barner, RB, Oregon (A-)

Round 6 Pick 23: Josh Boyce, WR, TCU (B)

Round 7 Pick 22: Matt Furstenburg, TE, Maryland (F) - TERPS!

I tried to approach this realistically and ignore all of the very unrealistic trade offers. I will be totally stoked if this was our draft the only regret is I was not able to draft Connor Vernon. I think he could be a great future slot receiver for us...

Reading this thread it seems like the site only grades a draft highly if you grade the players the same way they do.......and I don't agree with their grades/BPA all the time

and plus their trade down machine is more then a bit off

Yeah, if you go back a few pages I mentioned last year's trades from similar positions than us that are certainly more realistic. Something like maybe getting two thirds and a fifth out of our 2nd. No where NEAR what this is ... still fun though, just need to take it as a grain of salt of we will have a lot of angry fans come draft day.

Also, here is my most recent. Tried to make it as realistic as possible ... every pick was an A ... not sure how I didn't get higher than I did. Honestly think you have to make 10 trades and make 15-20 "A" picks to rack up the points.

Okay, well I hate to rain on everyone's parade ... but I went back to 2012 to look at the in-draft trades and you will be sorely disappointed (but probably not surprised) that you cannot, in fact, turn pick #51 into pick #61, #74 (3rd) and #125 (4th) like the model thinks you can. Nor can you turn pick #51 into what amounts to four 3rds, four 4ths and four 5ths ...

2012 Trades:

Packers traded pick #51 to the Eagles for pick #58 and #123 ... so a 4th to move back 7 spots. Not bad.

Buccaneers traded pick #59 and #233 (7th) to Texans for #68 (3rd) and #126 (4th) ...

So, in theory, we could ...

Trade #51 to Denver for #58 and #125

Trade # 58 and # #191 to Cleveland for #68 and #104

So ...

3rd (68)

3rd (85)

4th (104)

4th (119)

4th (125)

5th (154)

5th (162)

7th (233)

So ... that's about as good as you're going to do for trading back and accumulating picks ... at least based on last year ...

Brought forward for emphasis.

So I just tried out something suggested in the patch notes, I'm not sure if anyone else has done this yet.

I ran the draft as another team (Cardinals) and drafted BPA for positions they needed then once I completed it, I looked at the full draft results to see how the computer picked for the Redskins.

This is what it came up with a run through:

Washington Redskins - 3279

Round 2 Pick 19 (51) Redskins: Robert Woods, WR, Southern California

Round 3 Pick 23 (85) Redskins: Terron Armstead, OT, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Round 4 Pick 26 (123) (SEA) Redskins: Will Davis, CB, Utah State

Round 5 Pick 21 (154) Redskins: Zeke Motta, FS, Notre Dame

Round 5 Pick 29 (162) Redskins: JJ Wilcox, SS, Georgia Southern

Round 6 Pick 23 (191) Redskins: Corey Fuller, WR, Virginia Tech

Round 6 Pick 26 (194) (SEA) Redskins: Jason Weaver, OT, Southern Mississippi

Round 7 Pick 8 (214) (SEA) Redskins: Mychal Rivera, TE, Tennessee

Round 7 Pick 22 (228) Redskins: Knile Davis, RB, Arkansas

I ran it through a second time and it did a very similar draft, picking the best WR/OT/CB/FS available in that order with the first 4 picks.

I did lots of trades and didn't agree with some of their rankins, ie. I think Baccari Rambo is overrated. If his first name was John and last name Doe, he'd be ranked much lower. The names kind of help; just ask the teams that signed Pacman Jones. Biggest mistake I made was not getting Justin Hunter, as he went a pick before Rambo... I traded that pick thinking I'd be safe sliding down a slot and getting that underrated WR

Here's a more realistic draft ... based on Drafttek Simulator and based on the trades made at similar picks last year.

*Trade (2)51 to Denver for (2)58 & (4)125

*Trade (2)58 and (6)191 to Cleveland for (3)68 & (4)104

Here is what Drafttek has for us:

3-68: Robert Alford, CB SE Louisiana

3-85: DJ Swearinger, FS South Carolina

4-104: Brandon Jenkins, OLB Florida State

4-119: BW Webb, CB W&M

4-125: JJ Wilcox, SS Georgia Southern

5-154: Steve Beauharnais, ILB Rutgers

5-162: Josh Boyce, WRS TCU

7-228: Ray Graham, RB Pitt

Here is what I would do (with players available at our picks):

3-68: Bacarri Rambo, FS Georgia

3-85: Terrance Williams, WR Baylor

4-104:Brandon Jenkins, OLB Florida State

4-119: BW Webb, CB W&M

4-125: Kiko Alonso, ILB Oregon

5-154: Micah Hyde, CB Iowa

5-162: Kerwynn Williams, RB Utah State

7-228: Luke Marquardt, OT Azusa Pacific

---------- Post added March-25th-2013 at 12:02 PM ----------

Another example for trades: 2011

Redskins traded 2nd (47) to Indianapolis for their 2nd (53) and 5th (152)

Redskins traded 2nd (53) to Chicago for their 2nd (62) and 4th (127)

Redskins traded 2nd (62) to Miami for their 3rd (79), 5th (146) and 7th (217)

Seattle traded their 2nd (57), 5th (157) and 7th (209) to Detroit for the Lions 3rd (75), 4th (107) and 5th (154)

So again ... take this simulator with a very LARGE grain of salt. No way we get the picks this simulator is suggesting.

In 2011 the Redskins turned pick 49 (close to our current pick at 51) into a 3rd (79), 4th (127), 5th (146), 5th (152) and a 7th (217)

In this draft, that type of trade-down would have us looking like this:

3-79:

4-119:

4-127:

5-146:

5-152:

5-154:

5-162:

6-191:

7-217:

7-228:

Not nearly as glamorous

---------- Post added March-25th-2013 at 12:31 PM ----------

Also, for those 2011 trades Washington made ... here is what the trade value chart had them at .... the trading down team always seems to be at a loss ...

49 = 410 pts. ---> 53 (370) + 152 (31) = 401 pts.

53 = 370 pts. ---> 62 (284) + 127 (45) = 329 pts.

62 = 284 points ---> 79 (195) + 146 (33) + 217 (5) = 233 pts.

So the Redskins traded 410 points for 401 (-9)

They then traded 370 points for 329 (-41)

They then traded 284 points for 233 (-51)

For a subtotal of -101 points (that's a very early 4th round pick)

---------- Post added March-25th-2013 at 12:42 PM ----------

Okay, last post on this, I feel like a total buzz-kill but feel like it's gotta be said:

I just ran another draft on First-Pick. I was offered picks 54 and 82 (2nd and 3rd) for pick 51. I was then offered 55 and 88 (2nd and 3rd) for pick 54. I was then offered pick 62, 94 and 129 (2nd, 3rd, 4th) for 55.

I turned pick 51 into picks 62, 82, 88, 94, 129 (2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th) ...

To give an idea on the trade-chart value of those trades:

Trade 1: Redskins traded 390 points and got back 540 points (+150)

Trade 2: Redskins traded 360 points and got back 500 points (+140)

Trade 3: Redskins traded 350 points and got back 451 points (+101)

For a net gain of 391 ... which, ironically enough, is at the original value of pick #51 ...

Compare that to the loss of 101 points in value via their trade-backs in 2011 ... and you get an idea of how jacked up this trading system is on this simulator

No doubt. Matt Elam falling to the third round? Not bloody likely. He'll be a steal in the 2nd. Bacarri Rambo falling to the third round (like he did for me) will not happen either.
