Sho-nuff
I hope this will allow the U.S. get more of our troop out in a peaceful, expedient fashion. I hope the Iraqi's are more hospitable toward the Turks.

Larry
Frankly, I trust the American troops a lot more then I would the Turks. I seem to remember the Turks having an agenda of their own. At one point, it even looked to me like they were contemplating getting in the war just so they could prevent the establishment of a Kurdish state. And, I'm at least reasonably certain that the Americans don't want to stay permanently. OTOH, it will make it harder for the kooks to claim it's a war against Islam. JackC
I'm not surprised, I just want to know how much of our tax money we have to give to Turkey to try to re-elect this President?
Kilmer17
Jacks right. We should be giving that money to Hamas and other enemy groups like Clinton did.

Glad to see we're beginning to take Patty Murray's advice! Seriously, that IS good news. Seems to me the people scolding others for questioning the costs are the same people who drasticallly minimized those costs in the first place. But here we are, and any progress is good news. Waldo da Magnificent
Do you guys not know this is a smoke screen? That despite the vote, the Turks will not send a large number of troops due to fighting between Turks and Iraqis for the last 400 years?? That the Turks and Kurds have been actively fighting in Northern Iraq for the last 25 years, with 35,000 plus casualities?? That one of the conditions of the Turkish vote is that the U.S. military pacify and disarm the Kurds (won't happen - Kurds won't surrender and the military will not fight them)? Didn't ANYONE actually read the entire article?

Cheap shot Kilmer. Are you sure you want to open the door on which administratons gave what money to who? Typical of you to change the subject from the Bushies to the Clintons. This kind of strategy will surely get the GOP thrown out of office in the next election so please keep it up!
NavyDave
Note to liberals people and nations don't do anything for free. There is no such thing as FREE lunch There is no such thing as Free education Even if you are married or have a steady girl, there is no such thing as FREE Nookie. The only thing free is the air we breathe but if you want the pure clean filter stuff it'll cost ya. The turks wont be in the Kurds territory. And the better news is that NATO is having meetings about the exit date for Bosnia and Kosovo where we have been since 1995 yet I dont hear any snivling about troops still there.
