Duckus
I think we have a winner tonight. I think the fears of the election dragging out weeks are overblown.
88Comrade2000
Wish it was possible to add a poll to a thread. I'd like to see the votes on whether we'll have a winner, tomorrow morning. I say we have a winner when Ohio counts their provisional votes on 11/17.

Larry
Anybody want to predict Virginia? CNN shows it closing at 7:00, and they say it's a battleground. (Me, I thought it was red, myself.)

skinsmarydu
I think Obama squeaks a win in VA. me too...the northern part (more heavily populated than the southern part) is almost definitely his.
Heisenberg
Just to my scattered attention, and it being so early, it seems to be leaning Romney's way, narrowly CNN has been talking as if the exit polls they can't reveal yet don't seem like good news from Romney. However, exit polls aren't very reliable IIRC.

mistertim
That was a hell of a hack piece by Peggy Noonan. No actual substantive reasoning or fact based analysis. "Ignore the massive amounts of polling that has been pretty self-consistent and just look at Mitt! He looks fresh and happy and I just feel good! Can't you feel it? It just totally feels like Romney is going to win. Obama just looks like he is losing and he knows it! Yeah!!!"

(Me, I thought it was red, myself.) Well, I've already said Romney; so I am sticking with that. I think George Allen will not get a second shot at the Senate. Heisenberg
I'm predicting Virginia goes blue again. Also, these exit polls don't include early voting, correct? If that's the case, then they are essentially worthless.
twa
this is the first election I did not have to wait in a line(besides behind my squaw ) I live in a very blue district and the only ones out front were Reps...course nobody sane expects O to win Texas. going from early reports I think a winner will be called tonight(and fought over tomorrow)
skinsmarydu
That's what I'm thinking too! I hope he pulls out another win here in NC too The household is divided on that, he says no way, I think it's Barack's.
Prosperity
Florida is going Blue, Miami Dade is the only county still mostly incomplete, and it's the biggest and bluest county in FL
Kilmer17
It depends on how many votes are left in Miami Dade. Santa Rosa has 0 reporting, and thats a 100k vote with about 0-30 Romney split I think youre right. But it's still a tad early.
zoony
Ooooooh, Karl rove just showed up on fox. I didn't think it was possible, but his jowls have actually gotten bigger. Popeman38
With VA and FL likely going blue again, my prediction is foiled. Drat. Close to being almost correct.

DjTj
I think this election will have a profound affect on how polls are used and abused going forward. The result tonight really reinforced the accuracy of polling. There is going to be an even greater investment in polling in future elections, and conspiracy theories about about polls are going to be pushed to the fringe.Nate Silver is the only person that might be a bigger winner than Obama tonight. He just solidified a career as the Mel Kiper of the Electoral College.
Jumbo
I just can't get over a take I have, that the way people used those polls in here and "out there" has been an impressive example of confirmation bias at work, and should actually be featured in writings (or added to existing research) on the matter. greenspandan
obama will end up with more like 330, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the hurricane. don't let the GOP feed you that lame excuse. mitt's stall occured long before sandy. nailed it. all credit to Nate Silver. serious advice: if you ever want to be right about something, ask nate what he thinks. MattFancy
Silver's getting his numbers from polls. So we all know they could be off, but even still, I'd put Obama's chances at about 70% right now. I think he is definitely the favorite. I still believe he ends up somewhere near 280. I don't quite think its as close as some believe, maybe the popular vote will be very close, but I think Obama is sitting pretty good right now with the EC numbers. I could very well be wrong, but that's my feeling. Looks like Nate Silver and me were spot on. Guess my 280 was a little low, but still wasn't that close! The Evil Genius
I've said (a few weeks ago) that O will get 290+ in EC votes.I'm still stubbornly sticking with it. http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?372987-Kilmer17s-non-confrontational-election-prediction&p=9239231&viewfull=1#post9239231 Hey, I got one right. :evilg:
