Uh oh: We're in TJ's top 10.

I'd prefer to fly under the radar, but that's just me. One could argue that we've won all three of our games by 3 points or less.

TJ'S TOP 10 W-L TJ SAYS

1. Chiefs 4-0 Dante Hall is becoming the league's best gamebreaker.

2. Broncos 4-0 Looking ahead to visit to Arrowhead Stadium.

3. Bucs 2-1 Champs welcome Tony Dungy to town next Monday.

4. Vikings 4-0 Randy Moss outduels Terrell Owens in rout of 49ers.

5. Panthers 3-0 Has there been a better fit than RB Stephen Davis?

6. Colts 3-0 Peyton Manning hopes to make Dad proud vs. Saints.

7. 'Hawks 3-0 An extra week to prepare for first-ever 4-0 start.

8. Titans 3-1 Titans' defense made all the big plays at Pittsburgh.

9. 'Skins 3-1 Getting it done with balanced play-calling.

10t. Dolphins 2-1 Off to Meadowlands next week for second time in '03.

10t. Giants 2-1 Run defense bracing for Ricky Williams next Sunday.

Offensive player of the week:

Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss. Eight catches for 172 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings embarrassed San Francisco, 35-7.

Defensive player of the week:

Titans linebacker Rocky Boiman. Sacked Tommy Maddox for an early safety, and returned a Maddox interception 60 yards for a score in Tennessee's victory.

Special teams player of the week:

Chiefs kick returner Dante Hall. Three kick returns in as many weeks for scores, and six kick return touchdowns in his last nine games.

Number of the week:

41. The Rams' rushing attempts today, after running the ball 65 times in their first three contests, in an easy win over the erratic Cardinals.

Surprise of the week:

Bengals over Browns. Not shocking, but kudos to Marvin Lewis on his first victory as an NFL head coach.

Coaching move of the week:

Dom Capers. Went for a touchdown on the final play of regulation and it paid off as the Texans edged the Jaguars, 24-20.

Rising this week:

Redskins. Steve Spurrier is mixing the run and the pass well and is proving that he might be able to coach in this league after all.

Falling this week:

49ers. Dennis Erickson's team was never competitive at Minnesota. Now Steve Mariucci and the Lions come to town and both clubs own identical 1-3 records.

Store it away:

Unbeaten Chiefs host unbeaten Broncos. Denver will need a healthy Clinton Portis to keep pace with Dick Vermeil's much-improved club.

What a joke.

Memo to TJ: the Giants beat us. In fact they stomped us for 3-1/2 quarters in our own house.

Dolphins are also better than us. Rams probably are, too.

Highest possible rank for the Skins is 11 or 12, based on their play. And we haven't proven we deserve even that ranking until we beat the Eagles.

As with Peter King's "Monday Morning QB" column, I tend to be very skeptical of any league-wide analysis done Sunday night. TJ has just watched highlights and is still reeling from the sights and sounds...he hasn't had a chance to digest the games yet, much less analyze them. So he sees a few scores, picks out a few surprises, and presents it in the form of rankings--when it's actually just the ten best performances (or non-performances) on his mind at the moment.

I don't see how you can say that the Dolphins and Rams are definitively better than the Redskins. And you're right, these rankings are a joke. It's just snap analysis. The Redskins are an upper half football team right now. Whether they can remain that will be borne out over the next couple of weeks.

It may be true that Spurrier is more conservative, but it gnaws on me everytime I hear it mentioned, they should make it a nickname, start refering to Spurrier as "He Finally Listened" and I'm glad he is running the ball, but when you have such a young QB I feel he would have done this no matter who said what when. It seems a little masturbatory to me, but does it need to be repeated every week. You'd think Chris Berman sat "He Finally Listened" down for a chat this off-season on the virtues of running the football. In two years if not sooner this offense is going to be the most explosive offense in the game and then we'll see who laughs best. (who knows, maybe I'm hyper-sensitive and need to soak myself in a tub of goo but I don't think so and I resent the implication)

And I prefer smashmouth football

And Bill Maas did the worst color commentary I have ever heard this afternoon, it sounded like he was off his meds, he'd make a mistake, try to correct himself only to show he has no idea why he was wrong in the first place making a compounded error. I was so disgusted I had to turn off the TV and run errands

I now return you to Tom Jackson and his weekly opinion

We *routinely* end our drives short of the end zone, despite having the "#1" offense in the NFL (in yards). It is not an anomaly, a "screw up" -- it's what we do, and it's as essential to the Redskin character this year as burgundy and gold.

You can't just look at our big yardage. We'd have a more effective offense with less yardage and more ability to sustain drives. This was what I trying to demonstrate yesterday with that long statistical analysis.

I love it..:wavetowel cause we haven't been in the top ten for some time.

I'm just praying the team picks up momentum and bring their "A" games against some of the better teams we're about to face the next couple of weeks. Cause if they don't:mad: The media will start tearing us down and taking shots at Danny/Spurrier and who ever else they can get hold to.

IT NEVER FAILS........It's time for the real Skins to start standing up opposed to getting kicked back down by the press.
