Audible_Red40
Talk about wow!! Now that's some serious dough...... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7685419/calvin-johnson-signs-7-year-extension-detroit-lions The Detroit Lions signed star receiver Calvin Johnson to a seven-year extension Wednesday, the team announced on its Twitter account. An NFL source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the contract is worth $132 million and includes $60 million guaranteed. Johnson's contract is the richest deal ever handed out in the NFL, exceeding the $120 million deal Larry Fitzgerald signed with the Arizona Cardinals last year. The extension puts Johnson under contract with the Lions through the 2019 season. The team is holding a news conference at 1 p.m. ET. He was set to enter the final season of the deal he signed as the No. 2 pick overall in the 2007 draft.
G.A.C.O.L.B.
Well deserved. The most talented WR to ever play. Easily. Maybe the most talented football player, period, ever.

Heisenberg
Megatron is probably my favorite non-Redskin player in the game but I would have a hard time with my team eating up that much cap space on a WR.
Kosher Ham
That's grown man money right there. Good for him. He deserves it and awesome of the Lions to reward him justly.
CrabR
No WR is worth that that Only a franchise QB is worth that. With a good QB you do not need a super WR to just a few good ones. IF RG3 is as good as we all think our wide outs will be sufficient. Still would like to sign Royal as Royal can return punts
S.T.real,lights,out
Good for him. Everyone saying hes the hardest worker on the team. MattFancy
I don't think there was a amount the Lions could've paid where people would've said they overpaid. Easily the best WR in the game right now, maybe ever.

G.A.C.O.L.B.
I wonder what Stafford would look like without Megatron. Remember, Daunte Culpepper was also a monster with monster stats when he was throwing the ball to prime Randy Moss. Not so much after. Though how much of that was injury/getting paid and lazy. When Culpepper had that all time season in 2004, Moss was injured most of the year and missed 3 or 4 games on top of that and had a down year. Culpepper had a 4 TD game without Moss that season. Megatron deserves the money. Most remarkable athlete I have ever seen at WR (Larry Allen is the best NFL athlete I have ever seen). Its like Randy Moss' speed and leaping ability/Jerry Rice's and route running/Sterling Sharpe's physical strength/Harold Carmichael's size all in one receiver. RonArtest15
He's worth every penny. IMO, he's the most physically gifted WR in NFL history. Barring injury, he'll go down as one of the all-time greats.
E-Dog Night
A hundred and thirty-two million dollars...for catching a ball. I know, he's awesome. The equivalent of Lebron James in the NFL. Huge, fast, can jump out of the building, great hands, quick. Yes, you said he already easily might be the best ever. G.A.C.O.L.B.
I don't think anyone is saying he's the GOAT simply based on numbers. Because of course Jerry Rice has #'s that arguably will never be topped. But Cy Young also has the most wins ever--by far. Doesn't mean he's the greatest pitcher ever. If you were starting a team today and could pick either prime Jerry Rice or prime Calvin Johnson, who would you go with?
AsiaticSkinsFan
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Cris Carter was still there though right? Was Jake Reed gone by then? Nope, Nate Burleson signed a mega contract based off that season tho. He was the Vikings leading receiver. Culpepper was just in the zone that year.
