Burgold
So, the trade actually makes smart drafting that much more important... so let's take a look back at 2011 and maybe even 2010. Which draft pick surprised or pleased you the most? Who's the guy that really shined or contributed that you thought was a wasted pick or a head scratcher? I'm going to start with my third choice. Chris Nield... a guy taken in the seventh round... after the legit draft was done and one pick before Mr. Irrelevent. Chris proved to be a great effort guy, a good rotational guy, and even had a couple of highlight moments. For someone who came in as a very low round rookie, got no offseason, limited training camp, and basically just told to go... he's the kind of blue colar hustle guy that you can build with. (Obviously, a guy like Kerrigan can be chosen as someone who both surprised and pleased. Heck of a start for a rookie, but while you are free to choose guys like him, do a little digging. Think about guys like Gomes who most people went ballistic about and hated when we drafted him yet filled in pretty ablely as a spot starter... despite the limitations that all rookies faced last year)
c4man5282
Maurice Hurt and Willie Smith for me. Stepped in for an injured/suspended left side of the OL and as the season went on got better and better. Hurt was a 7th round pick Smith was an UDRFA. Burgold
Maurice Hurt and Willie Smith for me. Stepped in for an injured/suspended left side of the OL and as the season went on got better and better. That really was something. After the Williams and Davis suspension I thought the games would be unwatchable. We got better. Those two rooks really impressed me. Hopefully, with a full offseason and training regiment they can be even better.
SKINS'n'Spurs
RK91 is my choice. I remember thinking "who is Ryan Kerrigan?" when his name was called and when draft gurus were calling that pick. I had not done my homework to familiarize myself with his abilities. What a pleasant surprise he turned out to be. I have been blown away by how good of a pick he turned out to be from never hearing of him pre draft.
Est.1974
Jarvis Jenkins maybe..wasn't a head scratcher but some said he was a reach, lazy attitude maybe, think I recall that. But, he was flying before injury. Would have been a starter, imo. He appears to have potential much greater than I expected. Hopefully 2012 becomes his year.
