NFL.com: "Report: Redskins already out on Peyton Manning chase"

Daniel Snyder might want Peyton Manning, but that doesn't mean he can have him.

The Redskins are on the hunt for a quarterback, and a healthy Manning represents the best option on the free-agent market since, well, ever. It makes sense why Snyder, the Redskins' free-spending owner, would want him badly.

But according to Chris Russell, the Redskins beat reporter for ESPN 980-AM, it's not happening.

“A couple of different sources inside the organization have told me that Manning’s camp made it pretty clear to Redskins officials he doesn’t want to come here,” Russell said Thursday on ESPN's "SportsCenter," (via ProFootball.com). "… There’s lots of reasons for that. His brother Eli, the colder weather, the whole situation down in Miami and so on and so forth. But unless that changes -- and I’m taking my sources at their word -- I don’t think Manning’s coming here to D.C.”

What? I bet nothing makes Snyder more angry than hearing the word: "No". If this is true, it is a tad bit unprofessional for Manning's camp and will turn the Redskins Nation against him.

How is it unprofessional to let a team know he isn't interested right away so they don't waste time and resources going after him?

If you got a job somewhere you had no intention of working, wouldn't the right thing be to let them know right away? If anything, he's being MORE professional than most free agents out there.

It is more professional than stringing us along for the sake of raising his price tag. He let us know so we are free to pursue other options

Edit:

^ beat me to it ha

How do you know this isn't a smoke screen so people think we aren't really going after him when we are? The fact this report is posted so quickly? I'm sorry, I'm not buying. Until we hear it from Manning himself, or his agent on TV or live radio. It's all cigars in a smoke field room.

Not a surprise. We're a perennial last place team. My guess is Miami.

Umm I don't see a difference between the first part of your sentence and the last part...

Dolphins has been either 3rd or 4th in their division for a few years now... Manning would change that...

Same thing for us, it's probably more the fax that he doesn't want to play against his brother twice, and he wants to play in the AFC so there could be a possibility of a Manning Bowl.

In terms of Redskins and the Dolphin, I maybe a homer when I say this, but he has a better chance of winning it here with us then Miami.

Tired of seeing "Daniel Snyder wants" coming from reporters and media. I sick and tired of them not getting the memo that he no longer is in charge of his X-Box and "Madden Controllers." ShanAllen are in charge of getting the players, not Danny Boy.

I agree...sick of people that bash Danny...he's changed

Totally agree. The joke has been played out for a while now.

I also get the feeling we never really wanted Manning. We all know we would be mocked and laughed at if we brought in another veteran player that comes here to get paid and fizzes out.
