mendes
TK @TKextremeskins Prater will not be brought back by Broncos. He is chomping at the bit for a chance to speak to Shanny. I'm all for letting Gano develope , but I think Shanny looks to bring in a good kicker he is familiar with.

Hitman21ST
Eh...not sold on Prater. He's been a beneficiary of the thin Denver air.
Zzj
Prater has had 1 field goal blocked in 116 attempts. Sounds good to me. (Source: http://www.nfl.com/player/mattprater/2506677/profile) why wouldnt they bring him back No idea. New coaches sometimes just want to bring in their own guys. Not sure if that really applies to kickers though.

Zzj
He also hasn't had Danny Smith as a ST coach... Haha, touche. I also doubt the kicker himself has much to do with whether his tries get blocked but, hey, maybe Prater is also luckier than Gano...
Truant
Prater hit 76% last year. Prater hit 69% of his kicks when on the road last year. He's a career 78% kicker. Gano, after you take away the five blocked field goals from this season, hit 86% last year. He'd be a 79% kicker on his career without those blocks. Not saying Gano is better, but he's younger, cheaper, and I don't know if Prater is much of an upgrade. They both have the same career long of 59 yards, except Prater did his at Mile High. illone
Kinda like gano to stick around. Danny Smith, now that's another story. Why does he still work here again?
Enter Apotheosis
No harm in bringing Prater in to compete if he's available. I'd put money on Gano outdueling him in training camp, though.
mikeDinNYC
there is nothing wrong with gano... someone tell me why they think the blocks were his fault? anyone?
Win4us
Competition is good for the Gano, every position needs pushed if possible.
moondog
Fine with bringing in competition, but honestly I like Gano and think he is developing into a nice kicker with a strong leg. He was damn near automatic at the end of the year and pretty consistent all year if you forget the blocks. There is no way to know if the blocks would have been good or not but judging by his percentage without them he probably would have made 4/5. gkekoa
The only reason people want Prater is one game...they don't realize he actually hits less than 80%.
SkinsFTW
there is nothing wrong with gano... someone tell me why they think the blocks were his fault? anyone? If he only had 1 block i'd agree but didn't he have 5-7 blocked? He must not kick high enough.

KCClybun
If he only had 1 block i'd agree but didn't he have 5-7 blocked? He must not kick high enough. His kicks get plenty of height, but it doesn't matter when guys get push right up the middle on your line. It doesn't matter what angle you're kicking it at when that happens. You look at Gano's blocks, and there's pretty much no way he could've AVOIDED having his kicks blocked, no matter how he kicked them. He was a victim of poor blocking and ****ty coaching. TK
Danny Smith, now that's another story. Why does he still work here again? He works here because he's now making the average of the top four ST coaches in the League. Bruce & Shanny know he's a top ST coach in what he teaches in meetings/practice. Players still have to execute though.
COWBOY-KILLA-
I'd lean towards keeping Gano. Prater is ok but so is Gano and I think Gano has a higher ceiling.
Never4Get21
My source tells me that Shanny has said that "Matt Prater, Eddie Royal, and someone else I forget are coming here this offseason" he also said if we bring in prater we would be signing him to a big contract and Graham would be here for camp but it wouldn't b much of a competition

I see him and Royal being the same type of WR. I have been hoping for a Prater reunion with Shanahan. Is the other player you can't remember from the Broncos also?
